We are pleased to present this incredibly nice Volvo S80. These S80s are actually very difficult to find in the later years of the first body style. It's a shame because as this design of the S80 aged, the reliability and quality of the cars REALLY improved. Because this is a 2004, it is the first year for a minor "facelift" to the first generation body style. In the later years of a specific model, Volvo tends to stuff their models with all kinds of upgrades and improvements. That is definitely the case here. The interior gets some extra special treatments with beautiful "watch dial" gauges which are front lit and shimmer in the LED light, along with 17" alloy wheels, and LED brake lamps in redesigned tail lights. The headlights are also slightly different to give the car a more modern look. Additionally, they've added more chrome trim to the exterior of the 2004 and up. For example, the door handles, and above the license plate area of the trunk are chrome trimmed. The interior of this S80 is in very, very good condition. In fact, it looks nearly new! It has off-black leather heated seats with beautiful walnut accents on the dash and door panels. The car has the "high performance sound" Alpine audio system upgrade which sounds excellent. It also has a power moonroof. The previous owner of this car was definitely a non-smoker. These cars don't even come with cigarette lighters, just power outlets. There is a cup holder that accommodates one beverage in the center console, and there is a single cup holder in each door pocket. This Volvo has dual front airbags, as well as front side airbags, and curtain airbags for the front and rear seats. It also features rain sensitive windshield wipers, along with heated mirrors and headlight wash and wipe, which are part of the climate package. The carpet and floor mat on the drivers side is somewhat worn, as would be expected on a car of this mileage. Additionally, the cup holder latch is broken, so it won't stay closed. This is a very, very inexpensive part which is redily available on eBay, Amazon, and from your local Volvo dealership. Otherwise, everything is in great shape! The exterior of this S80 is in GORGEOUS condition for the miles, and Nautic Blue in color. The only real flaws on the exterior are that there are some scratches on the bumpers from parking, along with about 3 door dings. Otherwise, the car is gorgeous. The car has no accident history at all. The 17 inch alloy wheels are in fabulous condition. The car has had only one owner since it was new, and it was serviced like clockwork. We have all of the service records, and it was taken into the Volvo dealership at least every 7500 miles every time. Additionally, the service book is stamped in every space. The tires are all matching Michelins Pilots with over 80% tread remaining. These are simply the most expensive tires you can get in this size, and is certainly an indicator that the previous owner spared no expense in maintaining this car. The brakes are in good shape and the car stops as it should. The 2.9 Litre non-turbo 6 cylinder engine runs flawlessly and is very smooth. The transmission is also just fine. The owners manual set is included. As was mentioned above, the carfax doesn't show any accident or damage history at all, and is completely clean. It shows that the car has had one owner. We also have an extensive service history for this car. It was serviced like clockwork. The important timing belt service was done at 210k miles, so it won't be due again until 320k miles. In China, it's all about being driven. That's why we've seen so many automakers stretch their most popular models to appeal to buyers in the Chinese market. Volvo is certainly no stranger to this, and according to Autocar, the company is already working on a super-lux, four-seat version of its recently launched XC90 crossover. Volvo won't stretch the XC90 and just increase second-row legroom, however. Instead, the company will reportedly remove both the standard XC90's second and third row benches, and install a duplicate set of front seats in the rear compartment, featuring the same electric adjustment features, including massage. These more luxurious thrones will be placed further back in the vehicle, allowing for "exceptional" legroom, Autocar reports, without needing to stretch the wheelbase. Mum's the word on when we can expect to see the high-zoot Volvo arrive, though the magazine estimates that it surface later this year.

Just because the penetration of the American automotive market by Chinese brands hasn't quite happened yet doesn't mean that Chinese-built cars are far off. According to a new report, we could very soon see long-wheelbase Volvo S60s that were assembled in the People's Republic arriving on US shores. The report comes from Automotive News China, which cites an anonymous Volvo exec. An official Volvo spokesperson later corroborated ANC's report, although where the original source claimed that we could see the Chinese-built S60L in US dealers at some point in 2015, the company line was that a timeline hadn't been established to begin exports from the world's most populous nation. According to Volvo, the benefit to exporting from China to the United States rather than from Sweden is the relationship between the US dollar and the Chinese yuan. Overall, it's a less tumultuous issue than the dollar-to-euro situation. By moving vehicles from China to the US, the Chinese-owned company is limiting the degree of risk it's taking with sudden currency swings.

Volvo Cars Chief Operating Officer Bjorn Annwall  BMW veered into a public-relations mess this year when it started charging car owners monthly subscription fees to warm their behinds. Volvo Car won’t be making similar moves. “If you are to charge for software updates, it must be a step change in consumer benefit,” VolvoÂ’s Chief Operating Officer Bjorn Annwall said in an interview this month. “We will not ask people who have bought a car for 1 million kronor ($96,500) to pay another 10 kronor to get extra heat in the seat.” While BMW will no doubt have other manufacturers follow in its footsteps — Mercedes-Benz recently started asking buyers of its EQ electric vehicles to fork over $1,200 a year to unlock quicker acceleration, for example — the auto world has started to second-guess just how much money there is to be made from the rise of software within their hardware-intensive business. In a 91-page deep dive into the topic last month, analysts at UBS pegged the total addressable market at $700 billion by 2030. ThatÂ’s no pittance, but pales in comparison to the $2 trillion opportunity they anticipated previously. Annwall sees Volvo generating little additional revenue from software until mid-decade. Only if major upgrades become available — a self-driving mode, for example — would Volvo charge extra. “You donÂ’t have to hold the steering wheel — now thatÂ’s a step change in user benefit.” Annwall was speaking at the opening of VolvoÂ’s new tech hub in Stockholm, where the manufacturer builds software for selling and marketing cars online. The company, which last month unveiled a battery-powered sport utility vehicle to succeed its gasoline-era flagship, intends to cease making combustion cars by the end of the decade. ItÂ’s going to be an uphill push: EVs made up just under a fifth of the companyÂ’s shipments last month. Bloomberg spoke with Annwall about VolvoÂ’s tech efforts, the software issues that have plagued some of its competitors and the ongoing supply-chain issues holding back the industry. Here are highlights from the conversation, which have been edited for length and clarity: Large automakers including Volkswagen have had problems with their car software. Have you experienced similar obstacles? I wonÂ’t hide the fact that we have had some problems with our software in the car as well. But weÂ’ve been good at correcting them fairly quickly.
