This is the real volvo S60R - not an "R Design".  The S60R was produced from 2004-2007 and was a very limited production vehicle designed to compete against the German high-performance special editions such as the Audi S4 and BMW M3.  I owned a 2005 S60R until recently, and my retired parents liked it so much they decided to get their own - which is the 2007 S60R I am selling here.  This car was optioned with Passion Red paint and the special R-model-only Nordkap full soft leather sport seats.  This S60R came factory equipped with a 300hp turbo 5-cyl engine, 6-speed automatic transmission with geartronic and all-wheel-drive, "Four C" active suspension with comfort, sport, and advanced modes, Brembo 4-piston brakes, and bi-xenon headlamps.  It includes power windows, locks, and seats, has a compass in the rear-view mirror, a homelink transmitter in the sunshade, and has both driver and passenger front, side, and head protection side airbags.  This car was optioned with the Climate Package (heated front seats & rain sensing wipers), Navigation System, Premium Package (power glass moonroof, Dolby in-dash 6 disc premium stereo with surround sound), Interior Air Quality System, 18" Pegasus wheels, and the Sport Body Package.  The window sticker price was $49,240  (The original sticker comes with the car.)


My dad added an Evolve (now called "Elevate" since Volvo made them change their name) performance package which included an ECU programming (raising boost from 13psi to 18psi), an "air management system", 3.5" downpipe, and 3.5" performance exhaust at a cost of $3,500.  The car hasn't been dyno'd, but the hp increase is very noticeable.  The car also includes an extra set of IPD Pegasus 18" wheels with Continental Extreme Contact all-season tires with lots of tread, as well as the OEM Pegasus 18" wheels with Eagle F1 summer tires with plenty of tread.

This car was the baby of my retired parents.  By the condition and the low miles it's obvious that this wasn't some boy racer's plaything.  They washed it by hand very frequently, and enjoyed it on multiple trips up to Northern Wisconsin and out to the East Coast.  My dad took the car on the track at Road America once during the speed-limited lunchtime spectator touring sessions behind a pace car, and that was the extent of its use beyond normal driving with the wife alongside.  The car was serviced at an area Volvo dealer and also at a local shop that specialized in vintage, collector, and race cars.  Mobil 1 synthetic was used for any oil changes not performed by the dealer.

Volvo to stop funding Polestar, sees stock rise dramatically

STOCKHOLM — Volvo Cars said on Thursday it would stop funding Polestar Automotive Holding and was handing responsibility for the struggling luxury car brand over to Volvo's top shareholder China's Geely Holding. The announcement sent the Swedish automaker's stock up more than 30% at market open. The heavy involvement by Swedish-listed Volvo Cars in Polestar, where it owns around 48% of the shares, has been criticised by analysts who see the stake as a drag on Volvo's resources. Like other new EV brands and startups, Polestar has struggled to make headway, particularly since Tesla started a price war last year. The automaker said earlier this month that it had missed its already-reduced delivery targets for 2023. Polestar's shares are down just over 83% since it went public in June 2022 via a merger with a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. Volvo Cars said it has considered handing Polestar shares over to Volvo's shareholders, which would make Geely a big direct owner in the brand. Shares in Volvo were up 20% at 0814 GMT, after they soared 32% at market open. Geely in a separate statement welcomed Volvo's decision to focus its resources on its own development. "Geely Holding will continue to provide full operational and financial support to the independent exclusive (Polestar) brand going forward," the Chinese group said. "This support will not require a reduction of Geely Holding shareholding in Volvo Cars," it added. However, the broker Bernstein said it saw a distinct possibility that the Geely ecosystem could sell down its shares in Volvo. Polestar last week said it planned to cut around 450 jobs globally, or about 15% of its workforce, amid "challenging market conditions". It also said in November that it would try to reduce its reliance on external help, publishing a revised business plan, which included getting additional loans from Volvo and Geely. The news could raise questions about the viability of Polestar, which aims to become cash flow break-even in 2025. Some analysts have said it could make more sense to fold Polestar company into Geely. Volvo Cars meanwhile reported a bigger than expected rise in fourth-quarter operating earnings on Thursday, with operating income excluding joint ventures and associates rising to 6.7 billion Swedish crowns ($643.83 million) from a year-earlier 3.9 billion. Analysts polled by LSEG had expected adjusted earnings before tax and interest (EBIT) of 6.5 billion.

Twelve months of motoring in the 2020 Volvo S60 T8 went by quickly. Our time in Volvo’s sharp, plug-in hybrid sedan is over, and itÂ’s time for a final verdict. The S60 saw two entirely different worlds in its time with us. We took delivery in normal days — you know, pre-global pandemic — but most of its tenure here was in a Covid-19 world. That being the case, it didnÂ’t get out and travel the country as much as our long-term test vehicles normally do. Prior to getting locked down, our S60 took trips to Chicago, Buffalo, the northern reaches of Michigan and elsewhere in the region. Even once its extended driveway sessions began, we snuck it away once to the East Coast for a quick back-and-forth summer trip. We limited our car swaps to once a month in an effort to stay away from each other on staff and keep each other safe. That meant that each of us got to spend longer stints than usual in the driverÂ’s seat — our normal routine wouldnÂ’t have encouraged this behavior pre-coronavirus. It was more like a true ownership experience, which is exactly what we aim to convey with long-term tests. We plugged it in every night, utilized the Volvo smartphone app to track it and integrated the car more fully into our lives. The odometer reading sat at 16,866 miles in the end. A great number of those miles were done under electric power, thanks to the carÂ’s 22-mile electric range when fully charged — our range testing saw it meet or exceed that figure if driven with a light foot.  And since the car was sitting at home so often, it was working with a full charge in most circumstances. Long highway trips saw us match the carÂ’s combined mpg rating of 30 mpg. Most fill-ups would return a much higher effective mpg number, though, as all the electric motoring helps it along. Folks with shorter commutes should take notice, as S60 T8 ownership will greatly reduce the number of necessary fuel stops. Due to the VolvoÂ’s long 10,000-mile maintenance gaps, it only needed to make one regular dealer stop in our time. Besides that, there were two other trips to the dealer. We had recall work done — there was an issue with the automatic emergency braking system — before the first regular service. And a sunroof snafu was the carÂ’s second and last unscheduled trip to the shop. Volvo recalls handful of vehicles for risk of false alarm

Volvo’s latest tech updates have made its vehicles easier to live with and safer, but as with any significant change, there are bumps in the road. The automaker recently recalled a handful of 2023 model-year vehicles for an issue that could cause false warning lights in the gauge cluster. The recall covers the Volvo S60, V60, XC60, XC90, and C40, with build dates that range from late 2022 to March 2023, depending on the model. An issue with the Telematics Connectivity Antenna Module (TCAM) could falsely trigger an error related to communications between the infotainment head unit. The driver receives an “e-call service required” message in the gauge cluster, but the system will continue to operate normally with the error. Though thereÂ’s no real problem or immediate danger when this happens, the false message can obscure a legitimate problem. The e-call feature is part of VolvoÂ’s onboard safety equipment that communicates information after a crash or other incident, so itÂ’s important to know when itÂ’s functioning correctly. There has been only one report of this problem in the U.S., and the recall only involves 329 vehicles. Thankfully for the affected owners, the fix is a simple software update to change the TCAMÂ’s logic. The update is ready to go, and dealers have been notified. The NHTSA said owners would be notified by mail in mid-May, but if your Volvo is acting up, itÂ’s a good idea to call the dealer when you notice. This is the third recall for several 2023 Volvos since last October. All three have involved software issues. The first involves a loss of drive power due to an error in the software that prevented the combustion engine from starting when the vehiclesÂ’ plug-in hybrid batteries were depleted. The second happened in January and related to diagnostic errors in the braking control module that could cause the electronic stability control, antilock brakes, and traction control to malfunction.
