1984 Volvo 244 Diesel 157k, odometer is working. - Donated to charity, Thick folder of records (See  pictures), Great running and driving Diesel with some needed TLC. Been in Arkansas and Texas all its life.  Doesn't smoke, drives like a champ.

Hello there eBayers, This vehicle was donated for sale benefitting charity. The previous owner and donator  has an extensive history for this vehicle, all documented and in a nice, neat folder. He has owned it  since 2000 and according to the folder, has really spared no expense when the vehicle needed it. Vehicle  is running and driving, with a great powertrain and transmission, but will require some TLC to be  complete. Please read on.

Aside from some cars in my personal collection that we have sold on eBay, every now and again we come  across something that we believe you may appreciate, and this might be the one. We have sold quite a  number of vehicles on eBay, all with positive feedback. (Credentials can be supplied on request.) Please  see Title section below for specifics regarding title transfer to you. It's an easy process and title is  again, in our possession and ready to be transferred to you.

Please, please, PLEASE, read everything here so there are no surprises, this is a used car, so please  don't expect a beauty queen. This car is more like a nicely running and operating workhorse than anything  else. Mechanically very sound, but with some issues listed below, also cosmetically needs some assistance  in the clearcoat / paint department.

Description Below:

Drivetrain: 5 Speed Manual with working overdrive, Straight 6 Cylinder Audi/VW/Volvo Diesel Engine
This car starts up in a mere fraction of a second after the glowplug light turns off. A half-second turn  of the starter gets her running, smooth and steady. (Please see video of engine view cold start to warm up  and exhaust view) - Engine is smooth, accelerates beautifully, transmission is excellent and overdrive  works just as it should. Clutch has plenty of life left, suspension is in amazing shape and due to  records, all major joints and shocks have been changed not many miles ago. You can literally take your  hands off the wheel while doing 65 and feel confident that she will drive straight. Literally NO smoke  from the exhaust. (See video) A solidly driving vehicle, with healthy drivetrain. Engine wiring harness  has been changed due to records, to a sum of over $900. She may not be the most beautiful car, but the  previous owner & donor loved it.

Mechanical Issues:
The mount for the power steering pump has been broken from its housing. The part number for this part is  1328517. The pump itself is excellent and works fine, it just needs the top mount in order to be able to  use it. Currently we are unable to connect the drivebelt to the pump due to the separation in the top  mount. (pay attention when watching video and looking at pictures to see the crack in top housing...  further pics can be supplied on request.) Due to the inability to attach belt to the power steering pump,  the cooling fan does not spin either. However, the car still doesn't overheat, even when idling in  traffic. However, I haven't really driven it in summer. Coolant is always green and at a pefect level.  Temperature has never been above 1/3rd on gauge.

Also, just lately I am experiencing an issue where the power brakes will work flawlessly for the first few  pumps, but on the third and subsequent pumps, you will have to push the pedal harder to engage brakes. It  seems to have a vacuum leak somewhere in the brake system. After waiting a few seconds after first  braking, the power will return. It might be a failing brake booster, or perhaps vacuum line. We are unsure  at this point. These two points are the only mechanical issues we have noticed.

Body and Paint:
Body is nice and straight, with no real dings or dents to be seen, chassis is rust free, but the clearcoat  has been faded, and may need paint if you decide later on. There are some discolored clearcoat spots, but for the most part, the clearcoat has worn out evenly. The result is a matte finish. Please see pictures, keeping in mind that the camera may have made the clearcoat look better than in person.

Interior:
The interior is quite clean, but not perfect. The seats are in great condition, everything is intact, but  there are blemishes on the carpet and areas where the interior may need cleaning or attention. The  pictures really say it all.

Tires:
Tires are in great shape and look relatively new, with reciept still in folder. I'd rate the tread at 80%  or more life left.

Electronics & Electrics:
Everything works and is healthy and functional. The power window switch for the driver's side broke, but  we have another on order and will be replaced for you before arrival.

Title:
Good blue title, Title is available and may be in my name, or may be transferred by previous owner to our  business. Either way, the title is ready and available to either hand to you for registration in your  state or possibly get temporary tags until which time you can register car in your name. Car will NOT come  with license plates, so you will have to either trailer the car, or obtain insurance so you can then get a  temporary license plate from the D.O.T. - Either way, all documents are in order for transfer.

Deposit and payment:
Deposit of $300 is due immediately after auction end to our PayPal account. Remainder is due within 3  days.

Storage and Pickup:
We can store the vehicle for a period of 14 days for you. If you need longer, please contact us first, I'm  sure we can make arrangements usually at no additional cost.

Turn up your speakers for this Shelby-powered Sunbeam Tiger and friends

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

Most of us are never going to be like Jay Leno and drive a new car every day. However, it's possibly affordable to collect a handful of vintage rides, especially if you look a touch off the beaten path. In recent video, Petrolicious highlights Hans Abrahams, who is doing just that. He has three 1960s, European classics that love to be driven.
The absolute star of the trio is a 1966 Sunbeam Tiger. In the cabin, it has the meaty growl of a muscle car, but outside it has a little of the raspiness of period European cars. Abrahams says its mostly original except for its Ford 289-cubic-inch (4.7-liter) V8 with Shelby parts, producing around 273 horsepower. He says it's a bit difficult to maintain and hard to keep cool, but when you hear it, you know the trouble is worth it.
Next up, is Abrahams' 1965 MGB that is a bit of a monster in its own right. It lacks the Tiger's oomph under the hood, but it's loud enough to blow out Petrolicious' microphone. It's still a very cool little roadster.

Cars with the worst resale value in 2022

Thu, Nov 10 2022

Car values are all over the map right now. Used vehicles that were worth a small fortune earlier this year are now coming back to Earth, but the new vehicle supply remains tight. Prices are still elevated overall, but some models have seen more severe price drops. Depreciation strikes almost every model, supply constraint or not, though a few vehicles are leading the way. New research from analytics iSeeCars found that a handful of cars depreciated more than 50 percent over five years, with the BMW 7 Series dropping 56.9 percent and an average price cut of $61,923 over that time. The vehicles with the highest depreciation — or worst resale value — over five years: BMW 7 Series: -56.9% Maserati Ghibli: -56.3% Jaguar XF: -54% Infiniti QX80: -52.6% Cadillac Escalade ESV: 52.3% Mercedes-Benz S-Class: 51.9% Lincoln Navigator: -51.9% Audi A6: -51.5% Volvo S90: -51.4% Ford Expedition: -50.7% iSeeCarsÂ’ research showed that midsize trucks, sports cars, and fuel-efficient vehicles were slowest to depreciate over five years, while itÂ’s clear that luxury brands tend to lose value much faster. As iSeeCarsÂ’ Executive Analyst Karl Brauer explained, used buyers donÂ’t value high-end vehiclesÂ’ features as much as the first owners, so resale values tend to be softer. The tech and options that made the cars so expensive and appealing new donÂ’t add the same value on the used market. Read more: Cars with the best resale value Interestingly, electric vehicles also depreciated quite heavily, though they were just short of the abysmal numbers in luxury segments. The Nissan Leaf depreciated most among EVs, dropping by 49.1 percent. The average EV depreciation is 44.2 percent, with the Tesla Model S and Model X sliding in right under the bar at 43.7 and 38.8 percent, respectively. As iSeeCars notes, itÂ’s important to be vigilant when car shopping and not let your emotions win over reason. Shiny new luxury cars look great in the showroom, but you could end up taking a bath when you try selling them a few years later on. Volvo V90 Cross Country vs V60 Cross Country Luggage Test | Comparing cargo areas

Fri, Jun 4 2021

While the Audi A6 Allroad and Mercedes E 450 All-Terrain have disappointed us with their poseur levels of capability and questionable value, that is not the case with the other midsize luxury off-roadish wagon: the 2021 Volvo V90 Cross Country. It has genuinely useful extra ground clearance and a lower, more sensible price. But what about that other element of wagon goodness, utility?  Although I have not luggage-tested the Allroad or All-Terrain, Road Test Editor Zac Palmer effectively did so using different luggage and different A6/E-Class wagon variants. Our results are therefore only vaguely comparable. My guess is the Mercedes would win the day and the V90 would top the Audi, but again, that's just a guess. I have, however, luggage-tested Volvo's smaller off-roadish wagon, the V60 Cross Country. Surprisingly, the difference between Cross Countries isn't that great.  According to Volvo's wonderfully detailed cargo specifications that indicate what exactly they measured (hint hint, every other car company), the V90 Cross Country (above left) has 25.5 cubic-feet of space behind the back seat from floor to roof. The V60 Cross Country (right) has 23.2 cubic feet. That's not much of a difference.  However, Volvo also provides the cargo area length from the seat base to the liftgate. That's a bigger difference on paper: 45.4 inches for the V90 and 40.7 inches for the V60. That would play out once I brought the luggage into the equation.  Before we get to the bags, though, take one more look at the above comparison photo. Check out the different D pillars and specifically how much more upright the V60's are. That's my guess as to why the V90 cargo area manages to be so much longer, yet has only a minor volume difference.  Same bags, same formation, different Volvo wagons. You clearly see here that there's more length available in the V90. Five inches more? I don't know about that, but you nevertheless DO get more space.  As with every luggage test I do, I use two midsize roller suitcases that would need to be checked in at the airport (26 inches long, 16 wide, 11 deep), two roll-aboard suitcases that just barely fit in the overhead (24L x 15W x 10D), and one smaller roll-aboard that fits easily (23L x 15W x 10D). I also include my wife's fancy overnight bag just to spruce things up a bit (21L x 12W x 12D).
