1981 Volvo 245 wagon with 1988 5.0HO automatic from a Lincoln LSC. The car was converted to V8 power about 10 years ago and has been driven over 35,000 miles since conversion. It has the heavy duty trailer hitch. I have been diving the car to and from work (40 miles round trip) it runs and drives well. The good: Bilstein shocks and struts, IPD heavy duty sway bars front and rear, new radiator last November, tires and battery replaced last year, rotors and pads about 2 years ago, custom dual exhaust sounds great. It has a 3.73 rear end and the electronic speedometer from a later model 240. Odometer reading is not the actual miles as the instrument cluster has been replaced during the conversion. Tach and speedometer work, the odometer does not work. The bad: paint is ugly (great patina!), rear wiper not installed, front and rear window washers do not work, dash is cracked, windshield is cracked, there are some rust spots on the car, odometer does not work. Some small holes in the interior, small transmission leak. Did I mention the ugly paint? A/C was working when converted. One of the hoses came loose and the freon leaked out. I have not recharged freon since. The cruise control was not installed after the conversion. The hub caps for the wheels are included with the sale. I have had my fun with this car and am working on a new project. It is time for someone else to enjoy this rat rod. Clear FL title in hand. Ask questions before bidding. Bidders with less then 10 feedback must contact me before bidding. This is a no reserve auction. This vehicle is over 30 years old and is sold as is, where is, no warranty. Winning bidder is responsible for pick up in central FL or shipping vehicle. I will be traveling the last week of August and will not be available to turn the car over from 8/24-9/1. Delivery within 100 miles available for expenses. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Lotus could be sold to Chinese automaker Geely
Mon, Feb 20 2017Two things are constant throughout the history of Lotus Cars: amazing vehicles, and financial struggles. Frequent changes in both ownership and leadership have left the company's future up in the air. And while the new management has improved quality and set a new product plan in place, its seems that Lotus could have a new parent company soon. Despite comments to the contrary, Chinese automaker Geely is rumored to be interested in acquiring Lotus Cars. The British automaker has been owned by Proton since 1996, but after Proton was sold to DRB-Hicom in 2012 investors suggested selling off Lotus. The Star Online reports that PSA in France is rumored to be looking at purchasing Proton cars from DRB-Hicom. In turn, Geely, the parent company of Volvo, is interested in purchasing Lotus from Proton. The report states that Geely has no interest in mass-market vehicles from Proton, while crossover-focus PSA, owner of Peugeot and Citroen, has no interest in a sports car manufacturer like Lotus. China has been encouraging its native automakers to purchase and acquire technology it lacks. Buying Lotus looks like it would benefit both companies. Lotus needs an influx of cash while Geely, looking to compete further on the global stage, would gain a great deal of technical and engineering knowledge from Lotus. Geely's stewardship of Volvo has been mostly hands-off, while giving the Swedish company enough money to invest in new platforms and technologies. If the same were to happen to Lotus, Colin Chapman's company could have its best years ahead of it. Volvo won't entirely give up on sedans and station wagons
Mon, Jan 10 2022Volvo, like an overwhelming majority of its peers and rivals, sells more SUVs and crossovers than sedans and station wagons. It confirmed plans to pivot away from low-riding models in 2021, but it stressed that it's not ready to throw in the towel in either segment quite yet. "Yes, the [V and S lines] will be replaced with something even more attractive to customers," affirmed company boss Hakan Samuelsson in an interview with British magazine Autocar. His comments come as a relief for Volvo wagon fans around the world, given that in 2021 he had said that the company needs "to move [on] from wagons and sedans." There's a catch, though: Future V and S models will look quite different than today's. Samuelsson (who will step down from his position in March 2022) acknowledged that Volvo needs lower-riding cars but noted that their design will evolve and become "maybe a little less square." It's not just about style, either. "Cars will be less boxy in the future, when we need to have lower air resistance. You could call it coupe-ish. We talk a lot about range in electric cars, but I think we will start looking at energy efficiency, and of course air resistance will be very central to that," he said. It helps that sleeker designs help keep buyers interested in sedans. Volvo's S90 and V90 were introduced and 2015 and 2016, respectively, so they're expected to be replaced in the not-too-distant future. One point that's still up in the air is what they'll be called. The Swedish company is preparing to ditch its alphanumerical naming system in order to give its cars an actual name, so both nameplates will die with the current-generation models. We'll have a better idea of what the future has in store when the XC90's replacement arrives later in 2022 with a new name, a new architecture, and a large serving of new technology. Volvo rolls out new R-Design versions of S60, XC60 and new V60
Wed, 27 Mar 2013Volvo has put together R-Design packages for its newly facelifted S60, V60 and XC60 models, and for those who want more bark to go with them, there's a power upgrade for the S60 and V60 courtesy of Polestar performance. The aesthetics start with new front and rear fascias, the grille going frameless and Tech Matte Black with a silk metal diagonal bar, the back end getting a finned diffuser and round R-Design tailpipes. On top of that, the S60 and V60 are lowered 15 millimeters and can be fitted with 19-inch versions of the company's Ixion wheel pattern.
The R-Design sport chassis stiffens things up, items like the rear dampers getting 20-percent stiffer while front bushings get a whopping 400-percent stiffer. Inside there's a black headliner, perforated leather mixed with nubuck and contrasting stitching on the sport seats, or a full leather option for those who love their cow, and the Adaptive Digital Display gets a blue hue when set to the Elegance appearance theme.
Buyers of the 3.0-liter T6 engine can add the Polestar performance option, which cranks things up to 329 horsepower instead of the standard 304 hp, and an exclusive accelerator pedal comes with it. More detail can be found in the press release below.
