I am selling my beloved 1981 VOLVO 244 DL. This DL is perhaps the nicest you will ever see. I bought it from a lady here in San Diego. She bought it when she was 50 and let it go when she was 81. The Volvo traveled only 30 miles per day when she owned it. To and from work for 31 years. She told me the furthest it ever went was 50 miles. My wife and I were lucky enough to buy it last year for her to go back and forth to work. She loved, garaged and carefully maintained the Volvo just as the original owner had done. This Volvo has been garaged its entire life. The previous owner had custom seat covers made for both the front seats. They are in perfect condition and so are the original front seat covers. If you notice in the pictures the PO even made leather hand grips on the drivers side interior door so as to not ruin the original grips. I have a detailed letter from her ( 81 years old ) that I will pass on to the winning bidder describing the Volvo and the years she owned it since new. The Volvo is Museum quality in my opinion. The original paint is in fantastic condition, interior is a 10 out of 10. There are no dents, there is no rust, the undercarriage is in great condition with no leaks, the 4 cylinder B21f ENGINE runs perfect, the Volvo transmission is in perfect running condition also, trunk is flawless, great tires, no issues with electrical, everything on this Volvo works perfectly. AC is cold, heater works perfect. Everywhere we go in this Volvo people stop to have a closer look. It is a time capsule and looks new inside and out. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. The Volvo was always properly maintained and as a result runs perfect. IF your looking for a classic Volvo 244 and want to drive the closest thing to a new one from back then in 1981 then you should try and win this auction. It has been an honor to have owned it for the past year. I collect a variety of classics but am selling this one since my wife just bought a Toyota Avalon and has decided to go with a newer vehicle. Volvo's are very tough, run forever and are extremely comfortable to drive. They also get great fuel mileage ( approx. 25 mpg ). I do have receipts that I will pass along to the winning bidder. The Volvo is currently garaged and is NOT being driven. I have set the reserve fairly in my opinion based on the rarity and condition of this DL. It ain't cheap though so if your looking for a ''beater'' then don't bother to bid. This vehicle is either for a collector, a museum or someone who wants a classic Volvo to travel around in. I will answer all questions and post the answers on Ebay for everyone to see. I do have extra pics and can take other pics if you need some. Just email and let me know. Thanks. Globalvu3nn3.

Volvo rolls out new R-Design versions of S60, XC60 and new V60

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

Volvo has put together R-Design packages for its newly facelifted S60, V60 and XC60 models, and for those who want more bark to go with them, there's a power upgrade for the S60 and V60 courtesy of Polestar performance. The aesthetics start with new front and rear fascias, the grille going frameless and Tech Matte Black with a silk metal diagonal bar, the back end getting a finned diffuser and round R-Design tailpipes. On top of that, the S60 and V60 are lowered 15 millimeters and can be fitted with 19-inch versions of the company's Ixion wheel pattern.
The R-Design sport chassis stiffens things up, items like the rear dampers getting 20-percent stiffer while front bushings get a whopping 400-percent stiffer. Inside there's a black headliner, perforated leather mixed with nubuck and contrasting stitching on the sport seats, or a full leather option for those who love their cow, and the Adaptive Digital Display gets a blue hue when set to the Elegance appearance theme.
Buyers of the 3.0-liter T6 engine can add the Polestar performance option, which cranks things up to 329 horsepower instead of the standard 304 hp, and an exclusive accelerator pedal comes with it. More detail can be found in the press release below.

Macron hosts BMW and Volvo execs as they consider moving operations to the U.S.

Mon, Nov 21 2022

PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday will host a dinner with a number of European chief executives to convince them not to move production to the United States, where lower energy prices and the Inflation Reduction Act is proving a lure. European leaders have been alarmed by massive anti-inflation measures passed by Joe Biden's administration, which make tax breaks conditional on U.S-manufactured content and which EU industries say make investment in Europe less competitive. "We're having difficulties with companies which are starting to consider offshoring their production or making future investment outside Europe," a French official said, listing high energy costs and the U.S. legislation as reasons. At the Elysee palace, Macron will seek to convince executives from companies including chemical groups Solvay and Air Liquide, carmakers Volvo and BMW, pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and telecom groups Ericsson and Orange to stay in Europe and choose France for their future investments. Macron, who has called on the European Union to launch its own 'European Buy Act' to subsidise European production, has encountered resistance from the more anti-protectionist members of the bloc. It was unclear what Macron would tell the executives to convince them not to move to the U.S. But France has unveiled a number of measures over the weekend to cushion the impact of high energy bills for French companies. European companies have been increasingly strident about the impact of soaring energy prices since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has pushed up gas and electricity prices. Eric Trappier, CEO of Dassault Aviation, who heads the French federation of metals industries, warned in the Les Echos newspaper over the weekend that Europe should protect its own industry more aggressively or see it move to other shores. Volvo will replace C70... eventually

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Volvo has already announced the end of production for its C70 hardtop convertible, a handsome but seriously dated offering that was last refreshed in 2010. Volvo won't be abandoning the two-door coupe-convertible market for long, though, as news out of Australia claims that a replacement, based on the striking Concept Coupe, will join the Chinese-owned, Swedish brand's ranks, although it's unclear precisely when we'll see it on the road.
"Eventually yes... as soon as possible," Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo's CEO, told the Drive, before adding, "when we are ready."
"The Coupe Concept car, we can put that into production and it will have an exposure on the brand. But at the end it's the cream on the cake and at the end you need the cake first before you put the cream on it," said Volvo's Senior Vice President of Product Strategy and Vehicle Line Management, Lex Kerssemakers.
