**1992 Volvo 240 - B230ft Swap/no Rust - Sonic Blue - Excellent Condition** on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
Absolutely rock solid restomod of a 1992 Volvo 240 - 1992 244 - Turbo Sonic Blue on EVERYTHING (car was almost completely disassembled) - extremely good with 5 coats of base and 4 coats of clear Engine 1990 B230FT - pulls very hard and starts every single time Trans M47 5SPD - no grinding, misses or weak gears Gold BBS Propus wheels and almost new tires with plenty of tread Dash is ALMOST PERFECT with a tiny 1/2 inch crack (see pictures - the best I've personally seen) A/C 134A - updated compressor (blows ice cold down here in Houston humidity, so I'm sure it'll be fine where ever you're at) Single-din Pioneer radio - good speakers in each door, two 6x9's in rear deck and custom subwoofer/amp setup in trunk Body 215K - all panels aligned, no major dents/ZERO RUST, a couple of small dings that can't be captured well with camera Volvo R/Brembo front calipers/rotors - stops on an absolute dime Stainless brake lines front and rear Dynamat throughout entire vehicle - trunk, doors and floors WELDED holes for lower moulding and antenna Filled bumpers IPD sways 28mm front 25mm rears Lowered on Lesfojor springs and Bilstein shocks SAM strut brace - very rare DJ Auto ECodes with Hi/Lo HID's Various new random parts - every single window, lock and function work on the car Tons of other little things you can inspect in the pictures (like the frenched-in LEDs along the front spoiler for a Euro-look) and ton of other things a Volvo enthusiast will notice. There is not ONE thing left to do to this car. Link to a gallery with more pics and a video of startup/audio system below - I also just recently installed a brand new 16" Permacool e-fan (high performance version, Part #19115) with the correct accessory switch and relay kit (Part #19005). Could I have gone with a used 850 fan and butchered it in there with Nissan relays? Sure. But everything done to this car was first class and there was no reason to stop at the cooling system, not to mention I live in Houston and love an A/C system so this isn't the place to screw with cooling needs heading into summer. Also installed brand new amp (you can see from the pictures there is a gap in the custom custom trunk floor as the older amp was bigger). The older amp just needs to be regrounded inside but I got a good deal on a brand new one so I jumped on it. The car will come with older amp if you'd like to reground and install for a flush trunk floor. Or just make a new one! The pictures are very indicative of what you will be getting and the car is back and tucked away after a good detail. There is a picture of any noticeable ding or damage already taken. The paint job is 2 years old but has sat in a garage, under car cover and driven sparingly. Car cover will also come with vehicle. Never had been a daily driver (way too nice in my opinion) but easily could mechanically/electrically. Has never made the round at your typical Volvo shows...always bad timing. Be the guy to unveil her... LOW reserve but email me (jaxwithanx at gmail dot com) for questions and I will do my best to answer thoroughly. I'm selling because of different life priorities. I'd rather start building for a down payment on a house than have a daily driver and 2 toys sitting around. I could possibly consider an offer but am more interested in letting the bid process go through. It's obviously not the type of car that comes around often. And for a Volvo-guy....doesn't get much better sorted.... On Jun-01-14 at 22:08:51 PDT, seller added the following information: NO RESERVE And for those that found and watched the video in the Picasa album....the audio sucks because it's a cell phone microphone and it's clipping heavily. Trust me the stereo sounds better than most new car systems...great clarity with a little bass. |

2025 Volvo S60 the last model year for the sedan in the U.S.
Thu, Jun 20 2024Once Volvo finally got the EX90 headed down assembly lines at the automaker's South Carolina plant, the plant's other product, the S60 sedan, was on borrowed time. A few days after the EX90 news, Instagram account volvo.forlife posted a pic with the caption, "Did you know that with the start of production of the @volvocars #VolvoEX90 at the Charleston, South Carolina plant, the production of the #VolvoS60 will also be coming to an end?" The S60 got about three more days of borrowed time, Volvo telling Road & Track that "After five years Volvo Cars is ending production of the S60 sedan in Ridgeville, South Carolina at the end of June 2024 for the U.S. and some other markets to focus on the all-new EX90." We suspect the sedan would have died earlier if EX90 production had commenced on time. The reprieve could have given the news more time to infiltrate the back channels, and might help explain why S60 sales are up 255% so far this year. Volvo's Chengdu, China plant that also makes the S60 will continue to do so, but those cars aren't coming here. The South Carolina facility can now concentrate on ramping up output of the Volvo EX90, already underway, and the Polestar 3, which commences local shortly. We haven't had an S60 sit through Autoblog exams for a bit, but the the sedan's seen no major revisions since we last drove the current third generation introduced in 2019. We lauded it for fantastic styling, a luxurious interior, and robust tech, dinging it only for a braking system not totally prepared for a driver to enjoy the dynamic potential of a 4,000-pound sedan with 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.   That T8 Inscription trim is no more, but the rest of the S60's plaudits remain valid. Until inventory dries up, the S60 comes in three trims priced from about $45,000 to $53,000 before options. All are powered by turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder mild hybrid making a combined 247 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque, in front- or all-wheel-drive, and rated to tow 2,000 pounds.  Â
Volvo Concept Recharge previews the future of Volvo design and technology
Wed, Jun 30 2021Volvo has announced a whole slew of information about where the company is headed, from battery technology to advanced driver aids. And it was all capped by the concept car you see above, the Volvo Concept Recharge. It all shows that Volvo's future is stylish, electrified and featuring the latest in safety technology. So, in a way, pretty much exactly what you'd hope and expect. Volvo didn't say much about the specifications of the Concept Recharge, but its design will clearly influence future Volvo models, including the company's upcoming flagship electric SUV that will be revealed next year. The front ditches even faux grilles for a sculpted fascia. The shape does echo some of the look of a grille, particularly with the Volvo slash and badge in the middle. The "Thor's Hammer" headlights remain, and in the case of the concept, they have wild running lights that slide up and out of the way inside the housing to make way for the actual projector headlights at night time. The whole shape of the car is based around the electric powertrain. It has a low floor and glass roof that means the whole body can be made lower and sleeker without compromising space. The wheels are pushed to the far edges, too. At the back, the car has slim vertical taillights, continuing a Volvo design tradition. On the roof, there is a lidar sensor placed at the top of the windshield. This is a significant piece of Volvo's future, as its next generation of vehicles, starting with that aforementioned SUV, will all come with one of these sensors as standard. It will be used in combination with cameras, radar, real-time data, machine learning and mapping data to provide advanced driver aids, including what Volvo describes as "unsupervised autonomous" driving in specific circumstances. Basically, it will be SAE Level 3 autonomy, a step beyond the hands-free, but still supervised Level 2 systems such as GM's Super Cruise. It will only be available on specific roads in specific circumstances, and so it won't be able to handle the entire driving task from driveway to driveway. The company expects to offer this level of autonomy on highways first, and it will only be in specific areas to begin. It didn't give an exact timeline for the roll-out and it will be a more gradual increase over time, rather than everything being launched all at once. The company also emphasized that it will only begin launching the features when they're well and truly ready.
