1984 Volkswagen Rabbit Turbo Diesel on 2040-cars
Upland, Indiana, United States
|
Up for sale is a VW rabbit turbo diesel. It has a hydraulic lifter head
turbo diesel swapped into it from a later eco diesel model. This
requires no valve adjustment. This is the most desirable of the turbo
diesels because of its fuel economy and reliability. The injector pump
is completely rebuilt which costs several hundred dollars. The engine
has around 125,000 miles on it and has all new gaskets, new coolant, new
water pump, new timing belt, new glow plugs, new coolant reservoir, new
oil change, new clutch, new fuel filter, etc. It has a performance air
filter and tall geared 4 speed manual trans. It runs 10 psi of boost
and is a really quick, fun car to drive. not slow at all like its non
turbo brothers.
The suspension and steering sytems are completely new and rebuilt. All bushings were replaced with poly bushings which dont wear out as quick as rubber and are a little more firm so it handles like a go-cart. It has all new fuel and brake lines with new hubs and wheel bearing all around along with brand new driveshafts. The tank was cleaned painted and replaced. The interior is minimalistic with a racing seat and a factory seat. factory driver seat will be included. heat works. all lights work. wipers work and there is one key that works everything. car has minor rust on the tailgate pictured and some surface rust under the car. nothing structural. it is a very solid vehicle that I wouldn't hesitate to drive anywhere and should serve you well for hundreds of thousands of miles. No body damage, never has been in a wreck. paint is faded and swirled but very few dents and dings. windows are perfect. Has a clean indiana title. odometer doesnt function and was replaced. body has over 100,000 miles on it and engine has a little over that much on it and will run for many hundred thousand miles more. Ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them accurately. I reserve the right to end the sale at any time as it is for sale locally. A $500 deposit will be made within a day of the auction and the rest will be paid in cash in person upon pickup. you can make arrangements to have it shipped but I would prefer you to pick it up in person. |

Recharge Wrap-up: First VW e-Golf in US up for auction, meet Project Ain't Fuelin'
Tue, Oct 14 2014Volkswagen is auctioning the first e-Golf in the US to raise money for Global Green USA. The auction is live now, and bidding goes until 3:30 pm Eastern on October 29. Global Green USA will use the proceeds to help find solutions to climate change, and the winner will get to enjoy emissions-free driving before the car e-Golf goes on sale in November. If you don't live in or near California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont or Washington DC, you might want to sit this one out, as the car will only be available to pick up at dealers in those initial launch states. Go bid now, or learn more in the press release below. Berlin, Germany will use Solaris electric buses for a complete bus line in 2015. The downtown line will run 3.8 miles between Zoologischer Garten Station and Sudkreuz. The transport operator Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) will use four of the Solaris e-buses for the test, each about 39 feet long. The buses use a 200-kilowatt inductive charging system at the ends of the line to recharge in just a few minutes. The government-funded test runs through 2016, but BVG pans to use the electric buses beyond that timeline. Read more at Green Car Congress. The American Petroleum Institute (API) is worried that the Obama administration will use ethanol requirements to influence a Senate race in Iowa. In the midst of a close race against Republican Joni Ernst, Representative Bruce Braley, the Democratic candidate, is urging Obama to reject a cut in the Renewable Fuel Standard. The November election approaches, meanwhile the EPA continues to delay issuing an ethanol requirement for the year, with or without its proposed 16-percent reduction. Rejecting the cut could help get farmers and ethanol producers on the side of Braley. "We are very concerned that the signals we are seeing from the administration is that the political calculations are outweighing sound fuels policy," says API's Bob Greco. Read more at Businessweek. Project Ain't Fuelin' aims to fix up old cars to return them to original fuel economy, and then surpass it. Episode 3 of Valvoline's Under The Hood video series features Daniel Gray of MPGomatic, who is doing just that to a 1999 Honda Civic HX Coupe. He aims to get 50 mpg out of the old Civic by tuning it up, tinkering with the aerodynamics, switching to more efficient tires and other modifications.
Icon goes Derelict on a 1967 VW Bus
Fri, Sep 11 2015Jonathan Ward and Icon have an eye for the little details in everything they make, and that's especially true of the company's Derelict projects. This time they are turning their attention to the '67 Volkswagen Bus. The van might look a little tired at first, but Icon gives the VW a complete makeover to keep it on the road for decades to come. Ward's client for this build had owned VW Buses before but wanted to have a truly usable one. Making that harder, she requested that the final result remain true to the essence of these classic vans. To do that, Icon let the exterior remain almost entirely stock, except for a few minor additions like the roof rack, tent, and a 110-volt outlet hidden at the back. The interior was kept looking original too, but the builders installed custom walnut cabinets and a load of modern upgrades, including air conditioning. The air-cooled boxer engine was also dumped in favor of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder sourced from a Jetta. To really understand just how much is changed, let Ward take you on a complete tour of the overhauled, vintage VW in this clip to show off all of his team's impressive work. Related Video:
Volkswagen loses thousands of vehicles in Chinese explosion
Thu, Aug 13 2015Yesterday, a blazing, explosive fireball erupted from a port in the city of Tianjin, in China, lighting up the night sky and shattering windows with the force of 21 tons of TNT. Hundreds were injured and the death toll continues to rise, with the most recent reports claiming 50 were killed. While the human cost of this tragedy simply can't be overstated, it hasn't taken long for corporations to look into what the enormous explosion cost them. And for Volkswagen, the answer is quite a lot. According to our friends at Jalopnik, a Chinese source claims the German giant, which remains one of the PRC's most popular brands, lost thousands of vehicles. The automotive casualty sheet lists 1,065 Touaregs, 391 Beetles, 257 Tiguans, 114 Golfs, 84 Up! minicars, 39 SportVans, and 28 Magotans (a locally built version of the Passat). While those are the only vehicles listed, the Chinese source said over 2,700 vehicles were destroyed. For example, both Land Rover and Renault lost an unspecified number of Discovery SUVs and Koleos CUVs, respectively. The explosion also affected Toyota. Its research and design facility with joint-venture partner Sichuan FAW also suffered an unspecified amount of damage. You can check out the translated source article here. As Google Translate jobs go, though, this one is particularly bad, but it still offers some details of the automotive cost of this disaster.
