I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE ONLY DRIVER. PRIMARILY THE VEHICLE WAS USED TO TRAVEL TO AND FROM WORK AND HAS ALMOST 72,000 MILES ON IT OF WHICH 95 PERCENT ARE HIGHWAY MILES. THE VEHICLE IS CLEAN AND WAS WELL CARED FOR.  I DO WANT TO DISCLOSE THE FOLLOWING, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN ONE MINOR ACCIDENT WHICH OCCURRED  TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE WHEN A VEHICLE MAKING A U-TURN HIT AND DENTED MY REAR LEFT PASSENGER DOOR. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED 100 PERCENT BY FENDER MENDERS IN LIC, NYC.
FROM THE VERY BEGINNING THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED BY VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE EVERY 5,000 MILES USING ONLY CASTROL EDGE 5W-40 SYNTHETIC OIL. EVERY 15,000 MILES THE VEHICLE HAD ITS CABIN AND AIR FILTERS REPLACED. ALL FLUIDS WERE REPLACED AT 45,000 MILES WHICH INCLUDED COOLANT FLUID, BRAKE FLUID, REPLACED TIRES, BRAKES AND UPGRADED RIMS TO NEW 17-INCH PRONTO WHEELS FOUND ON 2010 PASSATS, AT 65,000 MILES, IN ADDITION TO FILTER AND AN OIL CHANGE, I REPLACED SPARK PLUGS. AT 70,000 MILES I REPLACED THE VEHICLES TIRES WITH NEW YAMAHA ADVENTADOR W-RATED TIRES (A-BIT HIGHER PERFORMING THAN STOCK H-RATED TIRES).
THE VEHICLE WAS JUST SERVICED AND A 40 POINT INSPECTION COMPLETED. THE VEHICLE IS 100 PERCENT AND A MUST SEE TO BE APPRECIATED.

German carmakers recall 630,000 diesel vehicles in Europe

Fri, Apr 22 2016

Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, and Volkswagen will recall over 630,000 cars in Europe, according to reports Friday. No diesel car has been able to get under the legal emissions limit in real-world driving, according to a German government investigation. While only Volkswagen Group has been using a specific "defeat device", other carmakers have been playing with their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. Depending of the manufacturer, the systems have been cut off at a certain temperature. In a specific test cycle the systems operate to fulfill the legal requirements, but in everyday use the limits are exceeded. According to the magazine Der Spiegel, the supplier Bosch is behind this programming and has provided it to all German automakers. The mentioned carmakers have announced recalls, but many other manufacturers are also mentioned by name in the report, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan, Renault, and Suzuki. PSA Group, which produces Peugeot, Citroen, and DS cars, declared yesterday that its offices were raided following an emissions investigation. To solve diesel problem, VW might need two fixes

Fri, Oct 2 2015

Volkswagen says that a fix is on the way for its 11 million vehicles around the globe that are equipped with diesel engine software that can evade emissions tests. The problem might be far more complicated than simply creating a single solution for all of them, though. According to Automotive News citing Reuters, two remedies to cover different NOx-reducing systems could be necessary, and both potentially affect performance. Earlier examples of the EA 189 diesel engine used a lean NOx trap to reduce the harmful material coming from the tailpipe. According to experts in the Automotive News report, a software update might allow the engines to achieve compliance, but that could affect fuel economy. VW already tried this route once before the scandal came to light, but tests by the California Air Resources Board still showed the figures were too high. Later, some of the 2.0 TDI engines began using Selective Catalytic Reduction that reduced NOx by injecting a urea solution into the exhaust stream. According to Automotive News, a software update for this equipment might increase the amount of the substance used. Not only would that mean topping up the fluid more often, but there still could be some reduction in fuel economy. But, since the 2-liter, 4-cylinder TDI engine that sits inside the diesel vehicles first mentioned as being affected by the issue in the US don't have a urea treatment system, VW would need to install them into these cars. VW still hasn't officially outlined its solution (or solutions) to the emissions issue but is expected to soon. The automaker's long-term evasion of regulations with these diesel engines pumped vast quantities of additional NOx into the air. The substance is known to be linked with smog and acid rain. The US Department of Justice is already beginning an investigation into the company, and politicians are pushing for harsh punishments.

Are more diesel scandals about to erupt?

Fri, Nov 20 2015

More automakers may soon be embroiled, like Volkswagen, in diesel emissions scandals. According to the Daily Kanban, either the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) or the Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) will soon announce from 10 to 15 more cases of automakers cheating national diesel emissions rules. The outlet says three of the incidents are attributed to Opel. Studies conducted by the DUH, the University of Applied Sciences in Bern, Switzerland, and the UK's Leeds University found that Opel's diesel Zafira, Corsa, and Vectra models emit more NOx than European regulations allow when tested in ways that go beyond the European testing protocol, such as when done on a four-wheel rolling road instead of a two-wheel rolling road. Opel said the accusations had no merit. Specifically on the Zafira, the DUH asked Opel about the emissions findings, and Opel said that no General Motors software contains any measures to enable cheating. Opel then tested a Zafira of its own "both on a two- and a four-wheel roller dynamometer," finding that "The emission behavior determined in each case does not differ from one another." That makes this a case of he-said-she-said for the moment. The Daily Kanban's sources say the cheating methods "range from the crude to the highly sophisticated," with those at the latter end complex enough to render Volkswagen's methods "pedestrian." As for any automakers who might be named, the matter of real-world emissions exceeding a legal limit doesn't mean a carmaker has designed systems that cheat, it might mean the company designed the car to pass a test.
