2006 Vw Jetta Tdi 5-speed Manual Red Htd Seats New Body Style Mechanics Special on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
|
Car is located in suburban St. Louis, 11 miles east of the Arch. Runs and drives but will need to tow. Has low power and black smoke when warm. Exterior has a few dings and one small dent. Paintless Dent Removal said all can be addressed. A few scuffs on rear bumper. Windshield cracked. Interior is good with no rips or cracks. Some wear on buttons. Brake pad light on. I bought this car to fix up for my daughter but thought it was a 5-speed automatic, when it is actually a 5-speed manual. So I am selling it as I bought it. I am disclosing everything I know about it. But please keep in mind that I have only had it a few weeks and have limited knowledge. This is a car that will can be made nice with some work. I bought it with that in mind. This car is loaded, with sunroof, heated seats, leather, Satellite Radio, and most options. It is definitely a mechanic's special as it has been diagnosed needing a new camshaft and O2 sensor, as well as front brake pads. The camshaft replacement is necessary on most of these and the kit with bearings, lifters and cam is about $450. The engine sounds good with no knocking. The job is about 4 hours with easy access in car for a mechanic. Starts right up. I drove it a couple of miles and it drove well, except that it is low on power and put out black smoke after a bit of driving. Clutch is fine. Has had timing belt replaced. But it has the common camshaft wear so it is low on power, per the shop. I will be glad to cooperate with shipping but my price is firm. Trying to get out what I have in it. Clear title in hand. |

VW CFO Hans Dieter Potsch nominated as new board chairman
Fri, Sep 4 2015The search for a successor to Ferdinand Piech has come to an end as the Volkswagen Group has nominated a new chairman. The Executive and Nomination committees of VW's Supervisory Board have put their weight behind one Hans Dieter Potsch, who currently serves on the company's management board as its chief financial officer. He's expected to continue in his current role until November when an extraordinary general meeting of the supervisory board can be called to confirm his nomination and a replacement CFO can be found to take his place. As you may recall, the chairmanship of the Volkswagen board fell until recently to Ferdinand Piech, grandson of Ferdinand Porsche and one of the principals of the Porsche family that holds over 50 percent ownership in Volkswagen through Porsche Automobil Holding SE. Piech went head to head with VW CEO Martin Winterkorn and ultimately lost. Piech resigned and Winterkorn is about to have his term as chief executive extended through the end of 2018. In Piech's place, former union head Berthold Huber was named as interim chairman, but is now referred to in the statement below once again as deputy chairman instead. An Austrian native, Potsch is an industrial engineer by training. He started his career at BMW where he ultimately served as group controller, and subsequently served as CFO and as chairman at a number of German corporations. Potsch joined the VW management board in 2003, initially without portfolio, and soon assumed the financial portfolio – a role he has held until now. In 2009 he took on the additional role of chief financial officer at the Porsche holding company, whose supervisory board representatives are the parties proposing Potsch's nomination as the group's new chairman – even though he is not, strictly speaking, one of their own. In a related development, it appears that Julia Kuhn-Piech will be leaving her board seat sooner than expected. The departing chairman Ferdinand Piech opposed his niece's nomination to the board in his place, and now she'll apparently be stepping down to make way for the family's new choice of chairman.
Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller throws hat back in ring for VW CEO job
Tue, Mar 24 2015Toward the end of February it got leaked that Porsche CEO Matthias Muller was being promoted to Volkswagen's supervisory board. Muller's credentials and his success over 36 years at the VW Group have, for observers, put his name in the pool of potential candidates to succeed current group CEO Martin Winterkorn when Winterkorn retires in two years. But the 61-year-old Muller told German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung earlier in February, "It's no solution to put a 63-year-old at the head of Volkswagen," and the statement was taken to mean he wasn't considering the job. Muller now says the quote was misunderstood. In a report in Automotive News, the newly minted board member says he was commenting on what it would mean for the supervisory board and the Group if they nominated a 63-year-old to replace a 69-year-old - that it wouldn't result in a "generation change." However, if that's what they choose to do, Muller feels great: "I stand ready to take over any assignment," he said. Muller's name re-enters the candidacy pool, but we still have no idea who leads the running for the role and Winterkorn isn't saying a word. It could be three years before we know: Winterkorn's contract concludes at the end of next year but there is speculation he'll re-up for two years to see out the end of the Strategy 2018 initiative.
VW reveals Outback-rivaling Golf Alltrack ahead of Paris
Wed, 24 Sep 2014The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is getting a baby brother at this year's 2014 Paris Motor Show in the form of a new Golf Alltrack. Like its larger sibling, the little wagon is supposed to offer light-duty off-road driving ability combined with a more rugged look to show it off.
To give the Golf Alltrack that soft-road ability, VW is outfitting the wagon with its latest 4Motion all-wheel drive system from Haldex. The setup can decouple power from the rear-axle when not needed to save fuel. To further improve traction, the Alltrack gets VW's electronic differential lock, and the car can individually brake its inside wheel during hard cornering for better handling.
Volkswagen also wants the Alltrack to be able to visually show that it can handle getting away from the pavement, even though it starts life as a standard Golf wagon. That means jacking up the suspension an extra 0.75 inches and adding black moldings all the way around the car. There are also redesigned bumpers for the front and rear and silver underbody protection, plus new accents like anodized roof rails and silver mirror caps. The interior is essentially unchanged from the wagon, except for altered trim and Alltrack badges.
