2002 VW JETTA WAGON 5 SPEED DIESEL, I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE AND NEVER BROKE DOWN. CAR HAS 199,034 MILES BUT FEELS LIKE A CAR WITH 50,000 MILES! THE ENGINE RUNS PERFECT, GEARBOX AND CLUTCH FUNCTION AND ENGAGE AS THEY SHOULD WITH NO ISSUES, STEERING IS TIGHT AND SUSPENSION GOOD, AC BLOWS COLD, CAR IS VERY COMFORTABLE AROUND TOWN OR ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70+ STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW WITH NO VIBRATIONS OR NOISES. I DRIVE CAR PRETTY EASY WITH A MIX OF AROUND TOWN AND SOME HIGHWAY, AND TYPICALLY AVERAGE 45 MPG FOR MOST TANKS. THE WORST I EVER GOT WAS 43 MPG DOING 75MPH A/C GOING WITH 4 PEOPLE, 4 BIKES ON THE HITCH AND LUGGAGE IN THE BACK. BEST TANK WAS 46 NOT MUCH A/C USE AND AROUND TOWN STOP AND GO AND UNDER 60MPH DRIVING. DEPENDING ON HOW YOU DRIVE YOU SHOULD EXPECT 43-45MPG.THIS CAR HAS THE VERY DESIRABLE 5 SPEED GEARBOX THAT IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE AUTOMATIC. PRIOR TO PURCHASING THIS CAR I OWNED AN AUTOMATIC, AND THE BEST I COULD MANAGE WAS 39 MPG. UPON PURCHASE OF THIS CAR MY FIRST TANK WAS 6 MPG BETTTER! CAR HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND I HAVE ALL THE RECORDS AND RECEIPTS ALONG WITH THE OWNERS MANUAL AND 2 SETS OF ORIGINAL KEYS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TURBO 20K AGO WHICH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON THING WITH THESE CARS BETWEEN 150K AND 200K OR AROUND 10 YEARS OLD(HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY OTHER ONE). TIRES ARE BFG TOURING TA LOW ROLLING RESISTANCE AND ONE OF THE BEST TIRES MADE. TIRES HAVE 80% TREAD, ROTORS REPLACED 20K AGO, TIMING BELT REPLACED AT 172,000, ALTERNATOR AT 189,000, CLUTCH REPLACED IN 2009. CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS ORIGINAL PAINT. CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND IT SHOWS, JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURES! EVERYTHING WORKS ON THIS CAR AND I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE. BEING A 12 YEAR OLD CAR THERE IS SOME WEAR AND TEAR TO BE EXPECTED. THERE IS A SMALL DENT ON THE REAR HATCH TO THE LEFT OF THE WIPER THAT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE IN THE PHOTOS. THERE IS ALSO A SMALL RUST BUBBLE IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE REAR WINDOW. THE DRIVER SEAT HAS SOME WEAR AS SHOWN IN PHOTOS, BUT STILL VERY NICE. MORE PICS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. CAR HAS NO LEAKS OR UNUSUAL SMELLS, STAINS, RATTLES, ETC.. THE REASON I AM SELLING THE CAR IS MY FAMILY IS GROWING, AND WE NEED MORE ROOM FOR THE KIDS AND ALL THEIR STUFF. THE HITCH ON THE BACK WAS NEVER USED FOR TOWING, BUT WAS USED FOR OUR BIKE RACK. IT IS A CUSTOM MADE HITCH WITH A 2 1/2 RECEIVER AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY TRAILER WIRING. I CAN REMOVE HITCH IF BUYER DOESN'T WANT IT.

Ten of the greatest Super Bowl car commercials of all time
Thu, Jan 28 2016With an average of over 100 million viewers each year, the Super Bowl always has advertisers bringing out the big guns. And for those among us who don't know the difference between a safety and a touchback, those commercials can be one of the most compelling aspects of the annual ritual. Car companies, in particular, have a long history of making the most of the huge Super Bowl audience by debuting some of the most memorable advertisements that have ever aired on television. So, in preparation for the new batch we'll be seeing this coming Sunday, here's a collection of our favorites from the past. 10. Audi – The Godfather When Audi created this homage to the quintessential gangster movie to promote its newest sports car, the company managed to make a commercial that was simultaneously funny, a little bit disturbing, and most importantly memorable. 9. Maserati – Strike This one might start out slow, but it delivers not only with the wicked sound of the third-generation Ghibli's engine, but with an interesting message about hubris in the auto industry as well. 8. Nissan 300ZX Twin-Turbo – Dream Directed by none other than Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien), this dystopian spot has centers around a narrator who explains that in his dream the bad guys are unable to catch him despite their best efforts by way of street bikes, race cars, and supersonic jets. While the twin-turbocharged 300ZX car was certainly a performance powerhouse to be reckoned with in its day, the concept and execution of this one does come off a little bit campy now – but in a good way. Then again, it is a dream, after all. 7. General Motors – Robot This one is unique in that it's genuinely depressing on a profound level. Who would've thought that the simulated suicide of a lovable, anthropomorphic car-building robot who has fallen on hard times could be such a downer? 6. Nissan – With Dad Although the debut season of its new LMP1 racer didn't exactly turn out how the team hoped it would, there's no denying that Nissan's depiction of a strained father-and-son relationship that eventually leads to redemption (and the introduction of the 2016 Maxima) tugs at the heartstrings. 5. Volkswagen – Big Day A surprisingly poignant advert, this one might be low on dialogue but it certainly gets its message across. And just as the dramatic soundtrack begins to lull the viewer into a sense of security, our expectations are upended. 4.
Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires
Mon, 11 Mar 2013There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.
Latest Volkswagen Transporter shows itself as the modern Microbus
Thu, Apr 16 2015With a model history dating back to 1950, the newly unveiled Volkswagen Transporter has a long legacy to uphold as one of elder statesmen of the commercial vehicle world. The sixth generation maintains the classic boxy look, and VW even admits that the shape is "modernized cautiously." Still, the changes show handsome improvements like creases in the hood and a grille that better integrates into the headlights. Rather than styling, economy is more on the minds of many commercial buyers. VW ticks that box with an average 15-percent improvement in fuel consumption across the lineup, thanks in part to standard stop/start. The engine range includes a 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder available in 83-, 101-, 148- and 201-horsepower variants. There's also a 2.0-liter gasoline-fueled four with either 148 hp or 201 hp. VW is really working to make the Transporter a safer, more comfortable carrier for its new generation. The van is available with features like adjustable shocks, adaptive cruise control, a power tailgate and the company's City Assist Braking system, which is capable of automatically bringing the van to a stop from under 19 mph. The Driver Alert System even monitors behavior behind the wheel and advises when to take a break. VW offers the T6 in many variants, including the Multivan for carrying people and mixed use Caravelle, but the highlight at launch is the fantastic looking Generation Six special edition (pictured above). Based on the Multivan Comfortline, the retro, two-tone paint is optional, but standard features include LED headlights, chrome trim and Alcantara seats. While the latest Transporter isn't coming to the US, European buyers can order one soon with a base price of 23,035 euros ($27,000). Generation SIX: world premiere of the new T series Classic Transporter design is even sharper, more precise, higher end Better fuel economy – new engines with stop/start function as standard Better safety – latest driver assistance systems More comfort and convenience – adaptive chassis, electrically adjustable seats and electric tailgate More information – new radio-navigation system with integrated online services Prices start below level of previous model Hannover/Amsterdam, 15 April 2015 – Today, the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand presents the sixth generation of the successful Transporter model series that is produced in Hannover.
