I have an Exceptional 1970 VW bus. Has been a great and VERY reliable VW bus! It has been 100% garage kept and has been a weekend, take the kids to get ice cream vehicle. This can be a daily driver with no problem, and it rides nice and smooth. I bought the bus from the west coast and has NO RUST. New KYB shocks front and rear. New tires with approx. 500 miles on them. The front seats were upholstered 14 months ago. The rear seats are original, sit extremely well, and in good shape (see pics). New carpet front and rear. Comes with roof rack. Engine is a 1600 dual port. New alternator, and Carb (Summer 2013) New Pertronics Ignition, Coil, New Wheel Cylinder & Shoes(Fall of 2013). Has wood door panels and rear side panels. Mechanically bus has been well taken care of. Has new master cylinder and stops GREAT. Recently purchased a paint matching New fire extinguisher and 1st Aid Kit. New windshield rubber. Bus has its original M code plate. This is a nice everyday driver. Catches attention everywhere you go with MANY “thumbs up” and waves. Needs some work, could use door and window rubber after the desert heat. Needs minor electrical work, as the bus has no turn signals (lights work, but not signal arm), so you will have to put that in. Horn does not work, and wipers aren’t hooked up. I have never driven the van in the rain so I haven’t needed wipers. Headlights, running lights and brake lights all work perfectly. Bus just needs a little tinkering with. My passion for all things VW has been surpassed by the family want for a large lake pontoon boat. This is a SMOKE FREE vehicle! Any questions feel free to ask. Clean Mississippi title. I Will assist if shipping overseas or you use a car hauler service, as I used one to ship from Nevada to Mississippi. It was surprisingly a hassle-free event and I was very pleased. |

Recharge Wrap Up: VW's Last Mile Surfer, Apple's BMW i3
Tue, Jul 28 2015Volkswagen has unveiled its Last Mile Surfer. This little electric scooter – it folds up small enough to fit in the trunk and weighs just 24 pounds – will go on sale next year for around 1,000 euros ($1,100 US), according to VW chairman Martin Winterkorn, as reported by Autocar. Of course, we're wondering why you'd need to pay that much money to avoid walking a mile, but maybe we just haven't walked that far in an interested buyer's shoes. See more at Autocar. Did Apple want to use the BMW i3 as the basis for its own electric car? That's the word from the German magazine Manager, which says that Apple and BMW were talking about using the i3 shell for the plug-in iCar (or whatever) started last fall but are no longer actively taking place, but the two organizations have not totally closed off communication. Read more at Manager or at Green Car Reports. BMW is continuing its efforts to connect your car to your phone in interesting ways with the new EnLighten app. The idea here is to let your phone act as a bridge between alerts about traffic signals and the car, so that notifications can be displayed in the dash instead of on your phone. That should keep more eyes on the road and let drivers minimize those races to the next red light, which will save fuel. At least, it will do so in cities that broadcast that sort of signal information. Read more in the press release below. Traffic City Info Makes Driving in Cities Easier than Ever Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – July 27, 2015... The BMW Group announced today that it is the first manufacturer to bring the EnLighten App, by Connected Signals, into the car. Drivers of BMW Vehicles with iOS Devices will be able to see traffic signal data on the vehicle's display in real time. The EnLighten app makes driving in cities easier by helping the driver anticipate traffic signal changes, which can increase safety and help save fuel by avoiding unnecessary acceleration. The EnLighten app shows the current status of the traffic light in front of the car in real time as well as a countdown to when the signal will change. Based on the current vehicle position, as well as its speed, the EnLighten app offers a recommendation about whether or not to stop for the traffic light or proceed through. An audio alert notifies the driver about a pending change in the signal they are approaching.
Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.
Audi exec suspended over diesel scandal
Mon, Sep 19 2016So far, just one lower-level employee has plead guilty in the ongoing VW diesel scandal. Up high, the VW CEO when the scandal broke, Martin Winterkorn, resigned right after the news came out. Other executives have also quit or been suspended as well. Today, we learn that one more executive is feeling the heat a year into the scandal. Stefan Knirsch, the head of technical development at Audi and Audi board member, is going to be suspended from his position this week because of his ties to the technology that VW Group used to cheat emissions tests. The German newspaper Bild Am Sonntag reports that Knirsch not only knew that the cheating software existed but also lied about it under oath. Knirsch previously worked at Porsche and then Audi's electrification division. He left Audi's EV efforts behind in early 2015.
