This 1982 Westfalia was bought by our folks in 1984 and we have owned it for the last fifteen years. It has been very well taken care of and has been a Colorado rust free vehicle its whole life. I have personally maintained this van and have kept it in tip top shape as the years have gone by. I may miss some details of things I have done over the years but several things are as follows, replaced all fuel lines and tank seals last summer, rebuilt engine roughly 5000 miles ago, new clutch 5000 miles ago, brakes last summer, tires last summer (weight appropriate I might add), all of the fuel injection parts were replaced 5000 miles ago except for the computer itself, I ever so often would remove the wax and touch up the paint chips and control/remove any tiny rust spots that come from gravel road outings, many van owners haven't taken steps to protect their metal and it shows our van speaks for itself rust free and good looking. Now as for the futures you are looking for in a camper the top pops up in seconds and comes down just as quick, the canvas is perfect, this rv sleeps four two up top two on bottom, it has a very convenient little closet, water tank and sink with running water, two burner stove with stainless steel pull down counter top that covers the burners and allows you two convert the stove top into a counter top, refrigerator that runs on gas battery and electric, this van has the very rare built in camping furnace which is located under the van and when operating blows air into the van just like a ready heater it works perfectly and I have taken care of its maintenance also, their are many neat little features to this camper that i would be happy to tell/teach you about but you may either already know these vehicles pretty well or just have to discover some of them when you own one.

The important part to know about our van is that it is in perfect working order and ready for years of enjoyment. It is not a fixer upper that will cost you a bunch of money. If you keep up on its maintenance like our family has always done it will last you just as many years and go and go.

The only things about this van that are bad is #1 the odometer stopped counting miles two years ago. We have only taken two 500 mile trips in it since this happened and I would estimate altogether we have driven under 1500 miles since it quit.
#2 I have always wanted to get a custom paint job done in a watery blue tie die color but the paint has held up so good that every time I detail it out its to good to spend the money. Take a close look in the pictures and you will see that if you keep this van waxed and washed it still looks great.

We are only letting this go because as a family we have outgrown it and it has not been used much in the last three to five years. We have enjoyed being Westfalia owners and would really like to see someone who would use this and enjoy it as we have get it.

I will add one last thing that is extremely important to know since this is a vehicle you will be living in on occasion, we are very clean people and this is a very clean van, we have always used free bedding and extra padding and when you use this vehicle as a home on wheels you will be glad to have one this clean. Oh and yes it has all of its curtains and even has the original ice cube trays that came with it brand new. Also has books jack and tools. I'll do my best to answer questions you may have but rest assured this is a good Westy with nothing to hide.

Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program

Tue, 04 Oct 2011

You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Audi investing $30.3 billion through 2018 for product expansion

Sun, 29 Dec 2013

How does Audi plan to reach two million units in annual sales and pay for the 11 new models it's adding to its lineup - an expansion that may include models named SQ2, Q9 and F-Tron? By increasing its investment to 22 billion euros ($30.3 billion US) between now and 2018. That figure represents an increase of about 500 million euros over the previously planned outlay, according to a report by Automotive News, and that could be due to Audi wishing to goad the momentum that pushed it to 1.5 million annual sales two years ahead of schedule.
It's also about staving off the challenges from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Now that BMW has been able to turn some of its attention away from its "i" series of Megacity cars, it will reportedly spend more than planned in 2014 as it continues the rollout of ten all-new vehicles and 15 new-generation vehicles through the end of next year. Mercedes, having been dropped to third in the sales race, is preparing to add 13 new cars over the next six years.
Audi's money is going into technology, into product like the next-generation TT and the Q1 and production expansions and upgrades all over the world. The expenditure represents just under a fourth of Volkswagen's 84.2 billion-euro ($115.7 US) outlay devoted to taking the number-one global automaker title away from General Motors and Toyota by 2018.

2015 VW e-Golf coming to ZEV states for $35,445* this November

Mon, Aug 25 2014

Is $6,465 too much to get someone thinking about buying a Nissan Leaf to opt for the Volkswagen e-Golf instead? That's the price difference between the current EV sales champion, which now starts at $28,980, and the just-announced price for the e-Golf, which will sell for $35,445 in the US when it arrives in about ten states (basically, the ZEV states that follow California's lead in zero-emission vehicle rules) this November and will qualify for the federal tax credit of up to $7,500. VW says that the extra money will get you "the most versatile electric vehicle in its class." There is only one trim line, the SEL Premium, which will be the first VW in the US with all-LED headlights. The car's powertrain numbers pretty much match the Nissan Leaf, though. The e-Golf has a 24.2-kWh lithium-ion battery (the Leaf has a 24-kWh pack) and a 115-hp, 199-pound foot electric motor (107 hp,187 lb-ft in the Leaf). The e-Golf's official EPA numbers are not yet available, but VW says it will have an "average range between 70 and 90 miles." The Leaf has an official EPA range of 84 miles. The e-Golf has a better onboard charger – 7.2 kW vs. 3.6 or 6.6, depending on your Leaf's options – and has SAE Combo fast charging capability as standard. VW is also working with 3Degrees to offset all of the emissions "created from production, distribution and charging of the e-Golf for up to approximately 36,000 miles of driving." VW also announced prices for its lightly facelifted 2015 Jetta today. The base model, the 2.0-liter S with a manual transmission, starts at $17,325 while the top-of-the-line model, the Hybrid SEL Premium, will set you back at least $31,670. The lowest-cost TDI is the S manual, which starts at $21,640 and features VW's new 2.0-liter diesel four. A new limited-edition 1.8 Sport model with a firmer suspension, tinted taillamps and rear spoiler starts at $20,895. All VW prices listed exclude VW's *$820 destination charge and you can find all the details on trim lines in the press releases below.
