Auto trans, factory cruise , the engine is the original 2.1 , the cylinder heads have been replaced. Everything works except the cruise( it needs the cable replaced)I HAVE THE WINDOW STICKER AND THE VAN'S SERVICE HISTORY. ALL MANUALS,ETC. ALL ORIGINAL PAINT. THIS IS NOT A RESTORED VANAGON THIS VAN HAS NEVER BEEN TOUCHED.  WHICH MAKES IT A BETTER CHOICE VS THE AVERAGE REPAINTED, REBUILT VANS OUT THERE.THIS VAN WILL APPRECIATE AT  A DIFFERENT RATE THAN THE REPAINTED/REBUILT ONES..THE OWNER HAD THIS VAN SENT TO ZIEBART FOR A FULL RUST PROTECTION & INTERIOR PROTECTION WHEN IT WAS NEW. NO WRECKS. NO OIL LEAKS, NOTHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO THIS VAN! I JUST HAD THE FOLLOWING WORK PERFORMED: A/C CHARGED (STILL HAS R12) WATER PUMP, LOW TEMP THERMOSTAT,WIRES,PLUGS,ALL FILTERS, ALL FLUIDS CHANGED,NEW TIRES,FRONT ROTORS,PADS,BEARINGS,FRONT SEALS. THE INTERIOR LOOKS AS IF IT HAS NEVER BEEN TOUCHED! THE ORIGINAL OWNER MADE A CARPET TO PUT ON TOP OF THE ORIGINAL CARPET. THIS HAS A 3 WINDOW CANVAS FROM BUS BOYS THAT IS IN PERFECT CONDITION. I ALSO HAVE THE FACTORY REAR HATCH SCREEN, ALL CURTAINS, SCREEN FOR THE SKYLIGHT. I HAVE BOTH TABLES TOO. FOR THE STEREO...PULL OUT SONY TAPE DECK, SONY CD CHANGER, OPEN THE GLOVE BOX AND YOU HAVE EQ CONTROLS FOR THE SUBS. THE ORIGINAL OWNER BUILT A "COFFEE TABLE" THAT HOUSES 2 SUBWOOFERS! THIS TABLE SITS BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGERS SEAT. IF YOUR CAMPING YOU CAN SIMPLY LIFT IT UP AND SET IT OUTSIDE! THIS THING ROCKS. HE PAINTED IT TO MATCH THE INTERIOR. THE VAN HAS 10 SPEAKERS, INCLUDING THE 2 SUBS.

This classic VW bus packs Porsche power

Thu, May 14 2015

Appearances can be deceiving. The rolling embodiments of that principal we call "sleeper cars": ordinary-looking vehicles that pack a much bigger punch than you'd get by just looking at them. Take this classic VW bus, for example. Sure, it may have some racing graphics and upgraded rolling stock to tell you this isn't just any old van, but looking at it, you'd still have no idea what lies beneath the surface. That's where you'll find oily bits sourced from Porsches. And not from a 914, either. (That was as much a Volkswagen as it was a Porsche anyway.) No, this vintage 1962 VW T1 "Bulli" van packs the air-cooled, forced-induction flat-six from a 993 Turbo, driving 530 horsepower and 558 pound-feet of torque through the six-speed manual transmission from a 996 GT3 to 18-inch BBS alloys. It's the obsessive six-year project of Swiss customizer Fred Bernhard, who also used carbon fiber to cut the curb weight down to 3,300 pounds. The resulting light sleeper can top out at 143 miles per hour, in a vehicle with the aerodynamic profile of, well, a bus. It's called the T1 Race Taxi and is being showcased by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles at the GTI-Treffen at Worthersee this year. Short of maybe the Renault Espace F1 concept, we can hardly imagine any other van we'd rather drive around the Nordschleife. Or just to pick up the kids from school.

VW recalls 1.1M Jetta, Beetle models in US, China over suspension fears

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Volkswagen is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in China and North America in a newly announced campaign affecting the rear suspensions on some models. For the US, the action covers about 442,265 vehicles, including 400,602 examples of its 2011-2013 Jetta and 41,663 units of the 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible. According to Reuters, the recall affects a further 126,000 vehicles in Canada and about 581,090 in China, including related market-specific models like the Sagitar.
The problem can occur if the affected models have a collision to the rear or the side-rear of the vehicle. It's then possible for the trailing arms on the torsion-beam rear suspension to be damaged. If the harm isn't noticed, then the part could fracture while driving. Obviously, a broken rear suspension is going to have an adverse effect on handling.
To fix things, VW dealers will inspect the trailing arms on the models, and they will all receive a sheetmetal part that will make a distinctive sound if broken in the future. If already damaged, the entire torsion beam will be replaced. Obviously, this work will be done at no charge to owners.

Next-gen Volkswagen Golf R spied while running the 'Ring

Tue, 16 Apr 2013

The launch of a new Volkswagen Golf is never a small thing, and things are already looking up for the subcompact hatchback after it was named 2013 World Car of the Year. While we've already seen the base and GTI versions of the next-generation Golf, now we're getting our first look at the sportier Golf R.
Although this prototype wears GTI lettering on the front fenders, it's more than just the roll cage and Sparco racing seat hinting that this is something a little more serious. Unlike the Golf and GTI, this car shows that the Golf R will continue to flaunt massive air intakes on each side of the fascia, and the rear of the car (though it's hard to see) has quadruple exhaust outlets. We still don't have an official word on power, but rumors indicate that the next Golf R could be pushing close to 300 horsepower, making it the most powerful production Golf ever. As much fun as we had during our first drive of the Golf R Cabriolet in the cold, snowy French Riviera last month, more power is a warming idea.
