1982 Vanagon L - Does not run, engine will not turn over.

This is a Vanagon L model with nice Westfalia interior furniture installed including a 2 burner propane stove, sink, fridge and the rear seat folds down to a bed w/ storage below.. The fridge door is missing.

The body is very solid. All 4 doors open and latch smoothly. Crank down windows work smoothly. Both tail lights are in very good conition, the front turn light lenses are intact w/ stress cracks. There are 2 spots of rust in the rear and side window frames. There is light body damage on the sliding door and rear quarter. I checked all the other usual places for rot and found none.

Dash is faded but intact in fair shape. Original front seats with small cracks in the vinyl. Original carpet in front in fair condition. Headliner is intact in fair condition. Original rear bench seat included.

I tried to jump start it. The starter tried but the engine will not turn over. Let's assume the engine is seized or locked up somehow. But you might get lucky! The rear bumper, end cap for front bumper and fridge door are missing.

This is one of the last of the old-reliable air cooled buses. With the Westfalia gear and almost rust free body it is a great candidate for restoration.

VW, Fiat, Mercedes could be CNG winners in Europe

Fiat ads in the US try to play up the exotic, sexy side of Italian culture. On the home front in Italy, however, passenger-vehicle sales are marked by something less edgy and quite a bit more practical: the growth of compressed-natural-gas (CNG) powered car sales. In fact, Italy is leading a group of European countries where CNG sales are on the upswing and may be benefiting automakers like VW, Fiat and Mercedes-Benz, according to Automotive News. VW started sales of its Golf TGI natural-gas vehicle this year – the company's fourth in Europe Â– while Mercedes-Benz added a natural-gas B-class model. Fiat accounts for about 50 percent of CNG vehicles sold on the continent. In all, Europe's CNG sales through September totaled about 67,000, up seven percent from a year earlier, Automotive News Europe says, citing research firm JATO Dynamics. And the number of CNG vehicles on Europe's roads could jump tenfold within the next decade. The draw is a combination of lower refueling prices and a CNG drivetrain that typically emits less CO2 than diesel vehicles. As for Italy, about five percent of new-vehicle sales are CNG. To put that into perspective, hybrids, battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and diesels combined to account for about 4.2 percent of US vehicle sales last year. Volkswagen Golf R 400 will come to US

If you're like us, and have been drooling over the Volkswagen Golf R 400 concept since it was first unveiled in Beijing last year, we've got some potentially good news for you. Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, member of the board of management responsible for development at Volkswagen, told Autoblog that the Golf R 400 will definitely come to the US... if it gets the production green light, anyway. Neusser says that the US market has had a hugely positive reaction to the seventh-generation Golf family. The new hatch won both Motor Trend Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year, and Volkswagen has expanded the Golf range to include a bunch of new variants, including the electric e-Golf and recently released SportWagen. The Golf R 400 would "fit very well into this strategy," says Neusser. The hotter Golfs have been successful, too. When Volkswagen opened the order books for the 2015 Golf R, the yearly allocation for the US sold out in just 11 hours. Neusser says the R 400 will "show how sporty the Golf family can be." We're certainly in favor of this hottest hatch hitting our market. All we need now, is for Volkswagen to officially give it the go-ahead.
