| Hi everyone, I sell to you here my lovely project. I have been working on the car for over 12 months now but want to sell it now. I look for someone who is willing to finish it. The hole Bus is finished to 85 %. My price is only the costs for the materials, paint and parts. The work and time is not included, because thats the fun in the whole project. Here is what I have done so far (Milestones): - Pre-cleaned the whole bus - Got the entire interials out - I put in a running engine - Sand stripped the whole chasis and many parts - Repaired the broken or rusted body areas and filled them up - Painted the bus (PlastiDip) and almost all the parts - Cleaned and rebuilt chrome parts, lights, radio, speedometer and other things like a wallnut gear nob - Bought a CD-Player System and a Bass Box and other speakers and cables - engine, starter and transmission are professionally rebuild (Engine runs but I guess needs to be a little adjusted / I can send you a video of the running Engine) - New white wall Hankook tires, wheels newly painted and original chrome hubcaps rebuilt (quite nice) - Roof is cleaned, sanded, painted and reinstalled (works good, tent is missing) - Fuel tank, firewall, fuel intake and engine area are rebuild - Electric System checked by a professional (nearly everything can be used again) - Nearly all Body Rubber and Seals are new Here is what you need to do to finish it: - Install speedometer, radio, some electric - Install several bulbs, replace some small parts - Check and maybe replace brake pads or system (Brakes are still working) - Check and maybe replace shock absorbers (They are still working) - Get interior panels - Repair hot air tube under the bus if needed - Install Power-inlet on side of the Camper What is part of the deal: Because it will be too many pictures to show everything I give you a summary of the main part groups you are getting: - The BUS with new wheels, tires and so on (Ready to drive) - New Battery - Sound System (Bass Box, Super 8 Radio, original VW Radio, CD Radio) - Clean title How can You get the Bus: I recommend you come with a PICKUP TRUCK or a big VAN or SUV. Bring a Trailer that is able to hold the camper. The total weight of all the stuff is around 3400 lb. The bus is in a fair condition so far, but I am just a normal guy and not a volkswagen specialist. So I strongly recommend for you to look before you buy. Bus ist 43 years old and not new! |

VW confirms three-row Tiguan to be built in Mexico
Tue, Mar 10 2015Volkswagen has been toying with the idea of a three-row crossover for some time – as evidenced by the CrossBlue concept in 2013 and the Magellan concept way back in 2002. But now the German automaker is bringing it to fruition, and it's doing so right in our back yard (or across the fence, anyway). In its latest announcement, VW confirmed recent reports that it will build a new three-row Tiguan at its plant in Puebla, Mexico. It will be made alongside the Golf and Jetta at the company's largest assembly plant outside of Germany, after a billion-dollar expansion program that will encompass nearly a million more square feet of space and employ some 2,000 workers. Once production of the new Tiguan comes on full steam in 2017, the plant will be pumping out 500 of them every day to be delivered in the Americas, but also exported to markets overseas (save for China and Europe). At that point, VW will be producing 90 percent of its products for North America locally. Of course this won't be the first time Volkswagen will be producing a Tiguan. The current model was introduced in 2007 and underwent a facelift in 2011, but includes only two rows of seating and is imported to North America from factories overseas. VOLKSWAGEN DE MEXICO TO PRODUCE THE NEW THREE-ROW TIGUAN IN ITS PUEBLA ASSEMBLY PLANT Mar 9, 2015 - Investment of $1 billion at Puebla plant - US-CEO Michael Horn: Localization key to safeguard our competitive position - Start of production end of 2016 Puebla/Herndon, March 9, 2015 – Volkswagen de Mexico announced today that a three-row version of the Tiguan will be produced at its plant in Puebla, Mexico. The car will be launched to the markets in 2017. The company will invest $1 billion for the expansion and modernization of its production facilities at the Puebla plant, as well as tooling to produce auto parts at suppliers. Volkswagen de Mexico's strategy of technological upgrading, which started with the production of the new Golf on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform, goes to the next step with the new Tiguan. "Localization has become key to safeguarding our competitive position on the global market and manufacturing the Tiguan in Mexico will bring production closer to the U.S.-market," said Michael Horn, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. "It is another proof point that Volkswagen is committed to further growth in the U.S. and North American markets.
Recharge Wrap-up: Smart Ready for Rent, MOIA comes to US in 2018
Mon, Dec 12 2016Daimler is launching its "Smart Ready to Rent" service in Europe. Beginning this month in German and French cities, the rental scheme bridges the gap between short-term Car2go rentals and longer leases. Customers book the Smart model of their choice – including the emissions-free Electric Drive and the hotter Brabus versions – for a period of one day up to three months. As such, Smart Ready to Rent is useful to those who live outside of an urban center. Users can book a car online or through a dealer, and vehicles are collected and returned at the dealership. The recently announced brand will take on public transportation as a competitor with services such as ride hailing and car sharing. VW is looking into forging partnerships with the likes of technology and ride sharing companies. The automaker also expects to show an electric shuttle-type concept in 2017 for pooling services, but will use the three-row VW Atlas crossover in the meantime until that concept reaches production. Look to see MOIA emerging in major cities along the US coasts. Read more at Automotive News. A new report from Lux Research suggests that most EV batteries are better off being recycled than reused. Once lithium-ion batteries have outlived their usefulness for automotive duty, some automakers (BMW, Nissan, and Toyota included) are looking at ways to use their remaining capacity, such as for stationary energy storage. The new report, though, says that reusing batteries offers "questionable returns on account of reduced performance." Better to be like Tesla, and just recycle them. Read more at Hybrid Cars. Tanner Foust drifts in with new VW Passat [w/video]
Thu, Apr 9 2015Tanner Foust, like many drifting and rallycross names, may have had a long track record with Ford, campaigning Blue Oval drifters in Formula D, the X Games and the Global RallyCross Championship. He won a few medals with Nissan too. But these days he's all about the Volkswagens. He drives a Beetle in the aforementioned GRC, but is now set to return to Formula Drift with the Passat you see here. The Top Gear USA co-host's new ride is ostensibly based on the German sedan we all know, but instead of a 1.8 turbo, a V6, a TDI or even a W8, this one packs a 7.4-liter V8. That mammoth mill sends about 700 horsepower to the rear wheels through a four-speed transmission, but will churn out a good 900 hp on nitrous. In short, it should be better suited towards drifting than the Passat 4Motion this writer tried to slide so many times in his youth. The beast is sponsored once again by Rockstar Energy, and we're looking forward to watching Tanner use it to try and retake the titles he won in 2007 and 2008.
