I have a great 1970 VW Deluxe Transporter , I purchased from a good friend who is 75 years old . The van had got to the point where is was needing some maintenance and with his age he was feeling like it was time to let it go . I purchased the Van with hopes of having it my daily driver this summer . So I went straight to work on it . I pulled the already good running motor and wanted to reseal it completely . In that process I honed the cylinders and installed new rings . replaced any parts the motor needed .And resealed the entire thing . Including the rear main seal , Installed a new clutch and a different exhaust . The motor is a 1600cc single port , has a brand new generator, and regulator . rebuilt carb. new plugs etc. The transmission is in great shape and shifts smooth and nice as it should . I did a little work on the brakes also . By replacing some wheels cylinders , a brake line and installed new front brake shoes . I also replaced the tires with a new set of 195/75/14 all season radials . For the body condition it has been repainted many , many years ago . But still shines nice and looks good I think . Its in no way perfect and has its bit of character having some chips , a few scratches . and a ding here and there .. But I think its great !! And have way more fun driving an old car that has some character rather than one that's had thousands spend on a new paint job . This bus drives so great its hard to express in words how well it performs . The inside is basically all original , The front seats are in great shape ,as well as the door panels and headliner. The rear seats have some wear and a couple small tears . But nothing a good Mexi Blanket cant cover up .
I Honestly don't want to sell the Bus. Especially after getting all the work done and its driving so good . But I had the opportunity to buy the bus of my dreams recently . And cant keep them all . The Roof Rack and Side step are NOT for sale with the bus . I am using them on my new bus . But for the right price I may include them with the sale ?
If you are looking for a nice solid VW bus that's is ready to drive anywhere now . This is a good one !!

Suspended VW exec Hackenberg resigns in wake of scandal
Fri, Dec 4 2015Ulrich Hackenberg, father of the innovative modular architecture that underpins many modern Volkswagen and Audi products and a 30 year veteran of the giant company, has resigned his position as the lead engineer for the entire Volkswagen Group as well as his seat on Audi's management board, reports Automotive News. The resignation closes out a two-month suspension while the investigation into VW's deceptive emissions practices continues. The resignation follows the admission by Audi that the 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine was also fitted with emissions-control defeating software, like some of its four-cylinder TDI counterparts. In turn, this lead to changes in Audi's management structure. AN reports that Matthias Muller, who has already taken over Martin Winterkorn's position as VW Group CEO, will also be named chairman of the Audi brand.Hackenberg's successor was named as part of this announcement. Stephan Knirsch, who has lead engine development at the Audi division, will assume Hackenberg's roles as both board member for Audi in charge of technical development, and as the head for technical development across the whole group.Related Video:

An inside look at VW's new California R&D center
Thu, 18 Oct 2012Less than two months ago, the Volkswagen Group opened a new facility in Oxnard, California (about an hour's drive west of Los Angeles). The $27 million investment, touted as Test Center California (TCC), serves as a research and development lab testing emissions for all brands under Volkswagen's umbrella, including its newest member, Porsche. While still not fully operational, we toured the new 64,000-square-foot building last week and had a first-hand opportunity to see just how much work is involved testing engines and meeting increasingly stringent government emissions standards.
Replacing a similar facility established in 1990 in Westlake Village (about 20-minutes east of the new location), our guide explained how Oxnard was chosen for its temperate climate, varied regional terrain for test drives and low altitude. (The area is only a few feet above sea level - a critical parameter when instrument testing emissions.) The new facility is capable of analyzing hundreds of vehicles, prototypes and customer-owned vehicles, annually.
Most interesting to us was the huge stainless steel climate chamber, with a massive four-wheel dynamometer that allows VW to test running vehicles in both scorching desert and freezing climates without ever leaving the building (an Audi Q7 was running in place during our visit). We were also mesmerized by the countless storage tanks and intricate plumbing of chemicals, stored in both liquid and gas states, needed to perform the variety of tests. Lastly, we took a look at Bugatti's service center on the west coast, located completely within the new center. While there were no supercars on site, the facility is equipped with plenty of spare forged wheels (mounted with expensive Michelin PAX tires) and a Veyron-specific repair jig that allows the vehicle to be completely disassembled, if needed. It is a shame that the facility, which set off all of our automotive geek alerts, is closed to the public.
