If you have been looking for a clean, well cared for and serviced VW Beetle TDI diesel then
you are going to LOVE my 2006 model that is just beautiful inside and out! This Beetle is a 1-owner local Ft. Myers
Florida car that has been fully serviced at our local VW dealership. I went there and had them check on records and
it had been in for most if not all the services required including a new timing belt and waterpump at 85k miles and I
just had it serviced as well! It drives tight as new and truly still feels like a new car, it's that nice to drive!
It has a nice clean Autocheck report as well showing no accidents or problems and it received a great score of 84
points out of an average rating of between 58-73 points so you know it has a great history and being a true Florida
car there is NO rust and even the underside still looks near new, you won't see that on any northern vehicles. It was
traded in at our local Chevrolet dealership by the original owner in this shape. The TDI diesel's are the best way
to go, they don't have hybrid battery issues like the hybrid cars do and this Beetle is rated at 42mpg, and with all
the services already performed you should expect 250k miles from this car. The exterior looks great and still looks
near new, The silver VW paint has a nice deep shine with no dents, scrapes fade or rust. The headlights are nice and
clear as well. The factory aluminum wheels are sporty looking with just a touch of clear coat pealing but not bad.
There are $500 worth of new tires on it to help provide a smooth and quiet ride. The interior is nice and clean as
well with no stains, rips or odors and this is a non-smoker's car so it is very fresh inside. This Beetle has the
$1390 cold weather package which includes heated seats, premium Monsoon CD stereo and power sunroof. The air
conditioning is ice cold and all the power options work great as well. There is plenty of head and legroom both front
and rear and decent room in the hatch area. Look close at the pictures, it is every bit this nice in person. What a
pleasure to drive! The peppy TDI diesel runs smooth as silk and should with all the services performed and again is
rated at 42mpg, this car will save you a bundle at the pumps. The brakes are in great shape and the suspension and
transmission are nice and smooth just as they should be with no issues. With the new tires and all the services
including the timing belt and waterpump change that is around $2000 you won't be spending! I have the factory books
and one key with remote. So again, a 1-owner rust free, accident free Florida Beetle TDI that has been fully serviced
and well cared for. Once around the block you are sure to fall in love and everytime you pass up the repair shop and
gas station you are sure to love it all the more! I have great feedback so you can be sure that this vehicle
will be just as nice as I am stating. Should you need help with shipping call me, if you decide to fly into Ft.Myers
to pick it up in person I will meet you at our local airport right here in town. I know buying a vehicle you haven't
driven is a little scary so I try to make it easy as well as fun!! As with all my vehicles, this one was put
through a safety check to be sure it is safe and road worthy. This includes an oil change and an inspection of the
brakes, belts, hoses, tires, fluid levels, etc. It's just one more thing I can do to make this a good experience for
you. I encourge you to call with any questions @ 239-872-5281. Thanks! ![]()

Volkswagen's ongoing diesel scandal is turning out to be an expensive problem for the German automaker. With a recent settlement expected to cost the company up to $14.7 billion, the company is scrambling to find ways to save cash. In light of this, Audi could be pulling out of the highest class of endurance racing, which it has dominated for years. A report from Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, indicates that Audi has already finalized the automaker's departure from the World Endurance Championship's top-tier LMP1 class after the 2017 season. Another report by Autocar cites an unnamed insider to corroborate the LMP1 exit rumors. The report fingers the VW Group's ongoing diesel scandal's financial fallout as the main culprit for Audi bowing out of LMP1. The move to could also be due to the group's decision to move away from diesel technology. Audi's LMP1 car, the R18, utilizes a V6 turbo-diesel engine. The Porsche 919 Hybrid, on the other hand, uses 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 engine that runs on gasoline. Audi has won the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans 13 times since 1999, making Audi an unstoppable force in endurance racing. Porsche, Audi's corporate sibling, reentered endurance racing with a LMP1 competitor of its own in 2014 and won the constructor's championship last year. Audi's decision to leave LMP1 could give Porsche a shot at creating its own Le Mans-winning dynasty. Autocar reports that Audi is expected to continue fielding cars in other WEC classes, like GT3 and GT4, and perhaps the brand will even enter Formula E. We reached out to Audi for some clarification on the matter and a spokesperson stated that the rumors were "pure speculation at this point." These recently released Swedish videos serve as a reminder that rust isn't just a cosmetic flaw, when it comes to cars. The insurance company Folksam and the homeowner organization Villaagarnas Riksforbund gathered examples of two relatively popular, but by now rusty cars, and then performed crash tests with them at the Thatcham Research facility in Britain. The results are sobering. The rustier cars chosen for the tests were first-generation Mazda6s, cars that have a reputation for early-onset rust in salty surroundings, such as the Nordic countries in Europe or the Salt Belt in the U.S. The cars in the other end of the spectrum were fifth-generation Volkswagen Golfs, which thanks to their body treatment only really start to show rust at over ten years old. But rust isn't just on the surface, it goes bone deep. While the Mazda did decently well in Euro NCAP testing as a new car, there's now a 20 percent higher risk of death in the 2003-2008 Mazda due to the degradation of its bodyshell. In the rusty car, the chassis rail separates from the floor, the footwell ruptures, the sill gives way, the seat mountings move and the dummy's head hits the B-pillar; all important failures, despite Thatcham saying the cars actually performed better in the crashes than they expected with all the rust. But still, the corroded structure isn't able to transmit loads in the way it was originally designed to do. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The Golf does significantly better — despite rust flakes flying when the Golf hits the wall — as the years have only caused it to lose a single point. An important thing to remember is that the cars aren't tested in comparison to corresponding new, 2018 cars: the tests are in reference to the crashworthiness standards in place when they were new. The cars' airbags inflate like they were supposed to, but on the Mazda the dummy's head bottoms out the airbag due to the car's structure failing, meaning the airbag cannot perform as designed. Driven cautiously, an older car is still mostly fine for driving around. But tests like these remind us that it's not enough that a car runs and drives, if the body has turned into Swedish knackebrod. And if you repair the visible rust and the structure underneath remains as compromised as ever, there's an ugly truth under all the bondo. Perhaps it isn't such a bad idea to have yearly roadworthiness inspections.

Volkswagen is working hard to overcome the PR disaster that is its diesel emissions scandal, and part of its efforts is focusing, weirdly, on petrol engines. Starting in June 2017, the embattled German automaker will add particulate filters to the gas-powered Volkswagen Tiguan and Audi A5. The change will eventually impact nearly every direct-injected gas engine the VW Group makes. Audi? Particulate filter. Seat? Particulate filter. Even Bentley is going to get the tech, all in a bid to reduce soot emissions by 90 percent. In fact, by 2022 VAG expects 7 million of its vehicles to boast the emissions-cleaning tech, which has long been a fixture on diesel engines. "Following increases in efficiency and lower CO2 output, we are now bringing about a sustained reduction in the emission levels of our modern petrol engines by fitting particulate filters as standard," Volkswagen Group research and design boss Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn said in a statement. "In the future, all models will be equipped with the latest and most efficient SCR catalytic converter technology." VW's initial rollout focuses on the 1.4-liter, turbocharged Tiguan and the 2.0-liter, turbocharged A5. Considering the popularity of the 2.0-liter across the VW range, we'd expect it's only a matter of time before VW expands its particulate filters tech to additional gas-powered vehicles.
