Selling a 2001 VW Beetle GLX.  1.8 liter turbo motor, with 5 speed manual transmission.  Has all power options (GLX, top of the line model).  About 165k miles.  It's a 2 owner vehicle.  First owner had the car for 8 or 9 years, then we got it.  My 2nd cousin's car.  She bought a new car, so this has to go.

The car has a decently clean body with no rust or anything.  A few scratches on the body.  Front bumper clips came off by where the center grille is, but can be reattached without too much drama.  Brakes, clutch, ignition coils, mass air meter, throttle body and timing belt were done not too long ago.  Battery is brand new, with warranty.  It does have an exhaust leak, which may be fixed before the car is sold (mid pipe needs some welding).  Driver seat bottom has a rip on it, from age.  Floor mat has a hole in it as well, but it's not a big deal.

All of the proper maintenance has been done, so it should be reliable.  Car is sold as is, with no warranty expressed or implied.

No reserve.,  Highest bidder gets it.  Can deliver car for free within 50 miles of 07747, after it's paid for.

If you have any questions, just ask.  Thanks for looking!  Have a great rest of the day.

Volkswagen Routan dead, pour out a sippy cup for your little homies

Thu, 28 Mar 2013

America's minivan wolfpack has just gotten smaller by one. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen officials have confirmed what we've suspected for some time - the Routan is dead. Essentially a lightly reworked version of the Dodge Grand Caravan, the Routan actually hasn't been rolling off of Chrysler's Windsor, Ontario production line at all this year, but VW had yet to confirm its discontinuation. However, Jonathan Browning, CEO of VW America, has reportedly admitted that the Routan is being axed, with remaining units expected to be funneled into corporate functions for "internal purposes."
The move isn't unexpected - the Routan has never been a big seller, with just 57,650 examples moved since sales began in 2008 - peak yearly sales totaled under 16,000 units, and that was back in 2010. And while many have talked of the minivan segment shrinking, Automotive News points out that the segment actually grew 14 percent last year to 597,118 units, though it should be noted that most segments have been on sales upticks as the US economy chugs out of its recession.
So, is volume-crazy Volkswagen prepared to pass on large family vehicle sales? Probably not - the German automaker has signaled that it plans to build a three-row crossover in North America soon, and we wouldn't be surprised if it looks an awful lot like the Crossblue Concept from January's Detroit Auto Show - minus the fancy plug-in diesel powertrain.

TN politicians may push to end VW incentives if plant goes union

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Volkswagen's Chattanooga Assembly Plant is scheduled to vote on whether to unionize in the coming days, but Tennessee state lawmakers are threatening to deny future tax subsidies to the factory, if the vote is successful. The factory is currently the only Volkswagen plant worldwide that is not unionized.
The states's Republican lawmakers have been particularly vocal against the union vote. Tennessee state senator Bo Watson said during a press conference that VW would have a "very tough time" with future incentives if the vote were successful, according to Automotive News. Tennessee House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick said the "heavy hand" of the UAW is not welcome there. VW has drawn criticism from both sides because it has allowed both pro- and anti-union groups to speak to workers and hand out leaflets.
Roughly 1,500 factory employees will vote on whether to unionize from February 12-14. If successful, the Chattanooga factory would be the first in the US organized under a German-style works council system where white- and blue-collar workers directly negotiate factory issues with the company's management.
