This is my good old 1970 Standard Bug.  It has been with me a long time now.  Loss of work unfortunately forces the sale.
The engine is a 1776 Mofoco build with hydraulic lifters.  No need for constant valve adjustment.  There is a deep sump on the engine too.  It has dual Weber 34 ICT's, and upgraded fan and alternator and a rebuilt 019 distributor.
The exterior looks nice.  Nothing smashed.  This car has its dents and dings I am sure.  The paint is shiny.  The headlights are H4.  There is a PIAA center brake light in the back because around here people like to tailgate while on the phone and don't pay attention to what they are doing.
Yes, the roof rack goes with the car.
The interior is basic.  It has pop-out rear windows.  The seats are Scat Pro 90 and I like them.  The rear seat is stock.  It has ABS kick panels with speakers in them. It has a set of gauges being, Tach, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, and Volts.  New pedals. The headliner looks okay, not torn.
It has front disc brakes that work great.  It also has a heavy duty rear anti-sway bar.
The transaxel is not original to the car, but it works great, no problems.  Has new clutch and HD T/O bearing.
The striping needs to be re-done or removed completely.  The stripes are just vinyl.
Has a spare and original jack.
The pan was repaired years ago, passenger side.  It was rusted behind the passengers seat.  It has a new pan section welded in place.  The inside floor was painted.
The window trim is all good.  All has been replaced.
The wheels are period Enkei.
Comes with two big plastic totes full of parts and spares.
I will help assist your shipping company as best I can should you need to go that route.
This little car is not perfect, far from it.  In fact it is far from far from it, but it has been a great car and always easy to fix.  The paint is not perfect.  The interior is not perfect, nothing is perfect but it is a good driver.  It has always been a driver and I hope it still will be.

China sticking to its guns on EVs for the future

Mon, Apr 27 2015

Automakers are obviously free to develop whatever next-gen, zero-emissions tech that they want. However, if a company wants to get on the good side of the Chinese government, that strategy better include some plug-in vehicles. The authorities there are lending major support to plug-ins at the moment, and its forcing the auto industry to play along. According to Bloomberg, Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and BMW are all launching dedicated EV brands with their joint venture partners, and as many as 40 electric models could hit the Chinese market this year alone. However, analysts don't think the vehicles are going to sell well. Instead, the launches are essentially a way for companies to play nice with the government and help get the approval to build factories in the country. Take Toyota as an example. The company is pushing the future of hydrogen hard with promotional films for the Mirai and engineers talking down fast-charging EVs. Still, the Japanese automaker is getting ready to launch two EV brands in China with its joint venture partners, according to Bloomberg. China's push for alternative fuels has been happening for a while, but it really kicked into high gear last year. The government has set a goal to improve fleet-wide economy by 40 percent by the end of the decade in order to spend less importing oil and for the population's health. The plan has shown some success so far with hybrid and EV sales growing early in 2015. Recharge Wrap-up: 2015 Fuel Economy Guide available, how Porsche ships 919 Hybrid

Fri, Nov 7 2014

The EPA and Department of Energy have released the 2015 Fuel Economy Guide. Unsurprisingly, the groups say that this year features more fuel efficient and low-emissions vehicles than previous years, and they span a greater variety of vehicle types. The guide also provides "best-in-class" lists, greenhouse gas ratings and estimated fuel costs for each vehicle. The EPA and DOE hope that car buyers will use the guide to help choose cars that are better for the environment and the climate. Check out the guide for yourself or read more in the press release below. To get from one WEC race to the next, Porsche ships its 919 Hybrid LMP1 cars by air. As the team travels around the world - from continent to continent - it must take 35 tons worth of cargo with it, including two LMP1 cars. That means draining fluids, partially dismantling the cars, and fitting everything into a 747. The team also ships items by sea, which requires shipping extra sets of items due to the longer shipping times. "It's all about efficiency," according to Porsche. Volkswagen is providing a 2015 e-Golf to Stanford University for research. The car will be used to study electric mobility, improvements in the driving experience and people's driving behavior and attitudes toward EVs. "Volkswagen's longstanding relationship with Stanford has allowed us to push the boundaries of automotive research and innovation," says Volkswagen's Ewald Goessmann, "and we look forward to extending our work together to drive advances in electric vehicles." EVs still burning aboard ship carrying luxury cars near Azores

Tue, Feb 22 2022

LISBON — Heavy tug boats on Tuesday sprayed water on a burning ship carrying thousands of Porsches and Bentleys adrift off the coast of Portugal's Azores islands, the ship's manager said in a statement. The Felicity Ace, carrying around 4,000 vehicles including Porsches, Audis and Bentleys, some with lithium-ion batteries, caught fire on Wednesday last week. The 22 crew members on board were evacuated the same day. Ship manager Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd (MOL) said in a statement the vessel was still on fire but stable, and that no oil leak had been reported so far. It also said the ship was drifting further from the Azores islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Two large tug boats equipped with firefighting gear arrived from Gibraltar on Monday, and were working with another patrol boat to spray water at the Felicity Ace and cool it down, MOL said. The arrival of two other tug boats with more firefighting equipment is scheduled for Feb. 23 and Feb. 26. "Together with the all relevant parties, MOL is making every effort to contain the damage and resolve the situation as soon as possible," MOL said. Joao Mendes Cabecas, the captain of the nearest port on the Azorean island of Faial, said on Sunday the fire had lost its intensity, probably because there was little left to burn. Cabecas said as the fire subsides and the structure cools down, firefighting teams and technicians might be able to board the vessel to prepare to tow it either to Europe or the Bahamas. "When conditions are safe the salvage team will board the Felicity Ace for an initial assessment," MOL added. Cabecas told Reuters over the weekend the lithium-ion batteries in the electric vehicles were "keeping the fire alive." It was not clear whether the batteries had caused the fire. MOL did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on the cause of the fire. Volkswagen, which owns the car brands, said on Monday it did not have any further information to share.
