You are bidding on a 1975 Super Beetle project car. I have had this car for about two years and have been restoring it for a nice weekend driver. Unfortunately I am forced to sell the car because I moved my elderly mother from the west coast and now have no time to complete the car.  I have lots of experience with car restoration over the last 40 years so anyone that looks at the car won't be disappointed.

The car is complete with the exception of the engine and the fuel tank. You will also need carpet as I was planning to change colors. The car was completely disassembled and the chassis had the floor pans replaced and a few small areas of rust repaired.  The chassis was sand blasted, primed, and top coated on a rotisserie. All of the brakes were replaced including  brake cylinders, master cylinder, brake pressure switches, drums on the back, and all new metal brake lines. The rear shocks were replaced and the front struts were replaced with Topline adjustable struts and a disc brake conversion. The front end is all new with an oversized sway bar, new tie rod ends, new ball joints, and a new rack and pinion boot. The transmission was sandblasted and repainted and the shifter bushings were replaced. The entire chassis is complete and spotless.

The body had a few rust areas removed and new panels installed. Both heater channels have been repaired or replaced. The engine compartment structural pieces were replaced. All rust has been removed. The outside paint was finished from the previous owner and is in very good condition. I did repaint the door jams, engine bay, and trunk area. The inside of the fenders were prepared and painted and the fender beading was replaced. The front turn signals are new along with the rear flush mount lights. The hood, doors, and trunk lid are not installed but are in similar condition as the rest of the car.

The interior was redone by the original owner and is gray and complete with the exception of carpet. The dash is in very good condition with one small crack about 1.5 inches long, that has been repaired. The sun roof has a new seal and works. The doors seem to fit well in the body openings. The car is ready to wire and has the front lights, horn and brake pressure switch wired. The rear lights are also wired. The inside will need to be completed. I do have a nice modern fuse panel ready for installation.

All parts used for the restoration were top quality and most from Germany or from NAPA. The car is located in Dover Delaware and can be towed or trailered. If you have any questions please let me know.

Payment of $125 immediately after winning the bid is required. This is because Ebay will change my account on a successful bid ( even without the car actually being sold). If you win the bid, pay the $125( non refundable) and don't like the car when you come to pick it up, I will relist and will not leave any bad feedback. I am confident that anyone that understands classic beetles will appreciate the amount of work/money put into this car.

Former Porsche execs acquitted of stock manipulation charges

Fri, Mar 18 2016

A German court acquitted former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and former CFO Holger Harter of stock manipulation charges, according to Bloomberg. Prosecutors alleged the men hid plans to takeover Volkswagen while publicly denying their intentions to investors. The presiding judge didn't find any merit to those claims, though. "There is nothing to the allegations, absolutely nothing," Judge Frank Maurer said, according to Bloomberg. "There was no secret plan to take over VW." Rather than Porsche taking over VW, the exact opposite eventually happened, and both execs stepped down. Investigators first indicted Wiedeking and Harter for alleged stock manipulation in late 2012. A court in Stuttgart dismissed the case in 2014 because of a lack of evidence, but an appeals court later overruled that decision. The current trial finally began in October 2015. If convicted, Wiedeking faced up to 30 months in prison, and Harter could have received up to 27 months, Bloomberg reported. Prosecutors also wanted one million euro ($1.1 million) fines from them and 807 million euros ($910 million) from Porsche. The acquittal might not be the end of this long-running case, though. In Germany, prosecutors have the right to appeal a ruling, and the lawyer hasn't made a final decision yet. If the court thinks there's a reason, the former execs could be back in front of a judge at some point in the future.

Audi, Porsche ensnared in new Volkswagen cheating allegations

Mon, Nov 2 2015

The scope of the Volkswagen emissions cheating scandal that has enveloped the global automaker for the past six weeks widened Monday. Now, some of the automaker's premium brands are further ensnared in the mess. Officials with the Environmental Protection Agency issued a second notice of violations Monday, accusing Volkswagen of violating the Clean Air Act by using defeat devices that circumvent emissions testing on diesel versions of certain vehicles equipped with 3.0-liter engines. Roughly 10,000 vehicles in the United States contain the illegal software, the EPA alleges. That's a far smaller number than the 482,000 vehicles affected by the first instances of cheating, which Volkswagen confessed to in September. But this latest violation alleges the cheating occurred broadly through the Volkswagen empire and includes vehicles from the Porsche and Audi brands. Audi had one model, the A3, involved in the first round of announced violations. But the brand, which has enjoyed skyrocketing sales in the US in recent years, is more extensively involved in violations announced Monday. The 2016 Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, A8L and Q5 are among the cars which contain the illegal software, which permits the cars to emit nitrogen oxide at up to nine times the allowable thresholds set in the Clean Air Act, according to the EPA. The 2015 Porsche Cayenne and '14 Volkswagen Toureg SUV are also affected. "There is clear evidence of additional violations and it's important to put Volkswagen on notice and to inform the public." - Janet McCabe. "Audi, which has been on a roll in terms of sales, reputation and image of late, now is being drawn deeper into the quagmire," said Michelle Krebs, senior analyst for Autotrader. "Previously, only the low-volume A3 was under scrutiny, but now Audi's core models are under fire." Audi officials did not respond to a request for comment Monday. In a written statement issued late Monday afternoon, a Porsche spokesperson said, "We are surprised to learn this information. Until this notice, all our information was that the Porsche Cayenne Diesel is fully compliant." Porsche said it would cooperate with authorities.

Major automakers urge Trump not to freeze fuel economy targets

Mon, May 7 2018

WASHINGTON — Major automakers are telling the Trump administration they want to reach an agreement with California to avoid a legal battle over fuel efficiency standards, and they support continued increases in mileage standards through 2025. "We support standards that increase year over year that also are consistent with marketplace realities," Mitch Bainwol, chief executive of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a trade group representing major automakers, will tell a U.S. House of Representatives panel on Tuesday, according to written testimony released on Monday. The Trump administration is weighing how to revise fuel economy standards through at least the 2025 model year, and one option is to propose freezing the standards through 2026, effectively allowing automakers to delay investments in technology to cut greenhouse gas emissions from burning petroleum. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not formally submitted its joint proposal with the Environmental Protection Agency to the White House Office of Management and Budget for review. Even so, last week, California and 16 other states sued to challenge the Trump administration's decision to revise U.S. vehicle rules. Auto industry executives have held meetings with the Trump administration for months and have urged the administration to try to reach a deal with California even as they support slowing the pace of reduction in carbon dioxide emissions that the Obama administration rules outlined. One automaker official said part of the message to President Donald Trump at a meeting on Friday will be to consider California like a foreign trade deal that needs to be renegotiated. Automakers want to urge him to get automakers a "better deal" — as opposed to potentially years of litigation between major states and federal regulators. On Friday, Trump is set to meet with the chief executives of General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and the top U.S. executives of at least five other major automakers, including Toyota, Volkswagen AG and Daimler AG, to talk about revisions to the vehicle rules. Senior EPA and Transportation Department officials will also attend. Environmental groups are eager to keep the rules in place, saying they will save consumers billions in fuel costs. A coalition of groups plans to stage a protest outside Ford's headquarters in Michigan.
