I am selling my 1976 Super Beetle Convertible. It is partially restored and I have taken it as far as I want to go. It is a daily driver and I mean that seriously! I drive it to work which is a 70 mile round trip. It drives down the road like a new car. I am not the type of bug owner to get the car so perfect as to be afraid of every scratch and paint chip. Some of you are. Professionally paint this baby and you’ll have a 15,000 car! The good: Decent paint done with a can. No shine but no drips. No body rust. Trim in good shape. Newer tires (about 5K on them) Chrome hubcaps and chrome wheels Clean interior with carpet on sides, rubber floor mats. New seat covers. Decent radio with speakers in door. New wipers One new tie rod, front bearings greased Engine removed and all gaskets and seals replaced Converted from FI to carb. New plugs, wires, distributor cap and wires. New engine compartment casket Heater boxes patched. Heat works great, even in Wisconsin Starts easily; couple pumps and it fires right up New electric fuel pump New spare tire. Jack and tools present Probably more but I can’t recall right now The bad: This is a daily driver, not a show car. The paint is even and consistent, just not glossy. To restore it completely, it should be professionally painted. The floor pans are rusty in places. They are patched (temporarily) behind the driver seat and where the battery is. The area around the frame head has some rust. Nothing that could not be treated and patched but the body would need to come off. The main engine seal (by the clutch) still leaks a little at high speeds but not while the car is just sitting. The vert top works and looks fine but has one hole on the right rear side that has been patched. There is also no interior lining. I have an extra new top that will come with the car. The new seat covers are the wrong style and do not fit like they should. Not a big deal though as they still look fine. |

Editors' Picks May 2021 | BMW M3, Toyota Camry and some hot Golfs
Thu, Jun 3 2021We awarded Editors’ Picks status to a number of performance cars this month, but a couple more regular sedans won out, too. April saw us recognize four models, but that increases to six for May. As the weather warms up here in Michigan, we tend to get into the sports cars that we missed driving all winter, resulting in a sports car-heavy month of testing. That explains why the list this month is so heavy on sports cars and hot hatches. In case you missed our previous couple Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in May that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Toyota Camry 2021 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid View 22 Photos Quick take: The Toyota Camry retains its place as one of the best midsize sedans you can buy. It comes in a variety of trims and powertrains, from the potent TRD model to the fuel-sipping hybrid. It's an attractive, functional and well-rounded car offering value and function. Score: 8.5 What it competes with: Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5, Nissan Altima, Mazda6, Subaru Legacy, VW Passat, Chevy Malibu Pros: Highly versatile, efficient hybrid, fun-to-drive sport models Cons: Average infotainment, polarizing exterior, slow base four-cylinder From the editors: Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore — “The Camry is one of the standard bearers in the midsize segment. With many companies abandoning this area, the ones that remain — like Toyota — do it well. Long a bastion of boring design and sleepy driving dynamics, the Camry is now legitimately attractive and offers a range of powertrains. It's a solid entry and along with the Honda Accord, makes the case for midsize sedans to exist." VW clubs pay it forward to fix elderly woman's vandalized '69 Bus
Sun, Jan 11 2015Not long after Thanksgiving, surveillance cameras caught four boys in Arizona throwing rocks through the windows of a 1969 Volkswagen bus belonging to an elderly woman called Ann. A few nights later they returned to the scene of the first crime and repeated it, smashing windows they missed before. Ann had no other car and no way to make a living, but when Jesus Aguilera – a member of the Arizona Bus Club – came across the incident on a Facebook page, he got to work. When he was finished, the AZ Bus Club and the Tucson Mob Squad had donated thousands of dollars to pay for new glass and get it installed, and now Ann has a magic bus she can drive again. Now, the vandals just need to be caught... Check out the video above for the story. News Source: AZ FamilyTip: Jav Volkswagen Minivan/Van Classics Videos crime vw bus
Volkswagen CrossBlue previews a three-row future, diesel-hybrid power [w/video]
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Volkswagen looks to be getting ready to jump into the large three-row crossover game. The automaker has officially pulled back the curtain on the CrossBlue Concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
Designers and engineers penned the machine specifically for the Canadian and US markets, and with a plug-in diesel electric hybrid drivetrain, the hulking five-door, at least in concept form, should offer substantially better efficiency than anything else on the market. The drivetrain pairs a 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 305 horsepower and a ludicrous 516 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch gearbox handles shifting detail, while one electric motor spins the front wheels. The second motor spins the back axle independently, make the CrossBlue a through-the-road hybrid.
As a result, the crossover can pop to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Perhaps more impressively, the CrossBlue can whir around on all-electric propulsion for up to 14 miles at up to 75 mph. Once the diesel four kicks in, the drivetrain can yield up to 39 mpg, though Volkswagen says the hardware can hit 89 MPGe on a full charge thanks to a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
