1969 Classic Beetle , Near Perfect Condition ! on 2040-cars

This is an extremely nice Volkswagen Beetle built in 1968 and is a 1969 Model year , it is a desirable color, Savannah Beige , has chrome wheels and Michelin XZX tires , wheels and tires are about 1500 dollars ( see Coker tire) the car has a Nardi wood steering wheel , the Bamboo under dash storage shelf and has a Great AM,FM XM satellite stereo , I bought this car last year from the Bob Stanek collection here in Atlanta , this car was restored by this avid VW collector and was his favorite and he drove it often . He had a phenominal paint job put on it complete bare metal inside and out , all trim and rubber removed ,completely disassembled as it should be done , paint on dash , inside door jams , window frames is exceptional and probably explains why the paint work was over $18,000 alone , it has new interior including headliner , floor mats , visors etc , again perfect . All new rubber trim was installed and motor and gearbox were rebuild to perfection , runs , starts, steers and stops better than any I have seen. Leak down reflects the quality of the drive train . Stanek performed a no expense spared restoration and it is an unbelievable value as restoration cost ( invoices with car ) exceed 40K . I should keep it but I have 5 VW's and 4 356's I bought it spontaneously and have enjoyed it but it needs to be in the hands of someone who can drive it and show it more frequently, it needs nothing but a quick wash to show anywhere , the VW show or any cruise .
I am selling it for exactly what I paid for it , all I have done is paint the floorboards with POR 15 and change the oil . If you like VW's this is a great car ! |

Recharge Wrap-up: VW CEO mulls battery factory, voters approve $201B in transportation funding
Mon, Nov 21 2016Volkswagen Group CEO Matthias Muller says that it would "make sense" for the automaker to begin producing its own batteries. As the company moves toward electrification, Muller says it would be a smart move to build a battery factory. "If more than a quarter of our cars are to be electronic vehicles in the foreseeable future then we are going to need approximately 3 million batteries a year," he says. Volkswagen has agreed to cut 30,000 jobs in its restructuring, while committing to creating 9,000 jobs in Germany through battery manufacturing and mobility services. Read more at Automotive News Europe. Election results show a desire for transportation funding. Earlier this month, voters in 22 states approved ballot measures adding up to $201 billion in funding for transportation projects, according to the American Road & Transportation Builders Association. California passed 15 transportation measures, including one in Los Angeles worth $120 billion for roads, bridges, and transit. The state of Washington secured $54 billion for light rail and buses. Atlanta approved about $4 billion for road and transit projects. Illinois and New Jersey passed measures to prevent the diversion of transportation user fee revenue to other industries. A Delaware federal judge ordered the DOE to give the documents – which concern a presentation by Fisker to the DOE in which it falsely claimed to meet milestones set forth in a government loan – to lawyers in a case in which investors claim Fisker lied to them about financial troubles. While the DOE has given over documents already, they were incomplete and heavily redacted. "I understand that such disclosures may have a negative impact on future DOE analyses," says US District Judge Sue Robinson. "but conclude nonetheless that under the circumstances at bar – the public money at stake, the Congressional hearings, and the fact that Fisker Automotive is now a defunct company – the balance of interests favors plaintiffs." VW TDI ads star four 'salty' ladies and a stinky dog named Tuna
Sun, Mar 22 2015The Kim Kardashian sex tape just keeps on giving: it brought the Three Golden Sisters to our attention, and now Volkswagen has used their comedic, Bronx grandmother schtick to promote its TDI engines. The ads are another round in the fight against the malicious perceptions of diesel – like how they're slow and loud (they aren't), that it's hard to find a station to refill (it isn't), and that they stink (they don't). Tanner Foust makes an appearance in one spot to dispel the notion of sluggishness, and Tuna the Dastardly Dog proves that she (or he?) can outstink a diesel any day. You'll find Tuna in the ad above, the other three ads are below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. German authorities claim 2.8 million VW diesels evaded testing
Fri, Sep 25 2015While Volkswagen admits that there are 11 million diesel vehicles around the world that may be able to evade emissions testing, investigations by government authorities are starting to provide a glimpse of where some of those actually are. According to German Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt, there are 2.8 million VWs in the country with the tech to cheat environmental rules, Reuters reports. In the US, at least 482,000 cars are believed to be affected. German regulators claim not knowing about the automaker's emissions testing evasions until quite recently, and Dobrindt didn't begin a fact-finding mission into the situation until just this week. Environmental agencies around the world have also begun their own inquiries into the scandal, including in Canada, South Korea, and many countries in Europe. In the US, where the story originally broke, the Department of Justice has started a criminal investigation into VW, and a maximum fine from the Environmental Protection Agency could tally $18 billion. The automaker has responded so far by setting aside about $7.3 billion to fix the affected models. CEO Martin Winterkorn is also already gone, and Porsche boss Matthias Muller is taking the top spot. The company's next moves still aren't clear, though. "VW needs to be very open about what has happened, how it was possible that this could happen to make sure that this never happens again in the future," an anonymous, top shareholder in the company said to Reuters.
