1965 vw bug driver... this is a good running bug that has been coverted to 12 volt that I used as a daily driver for a couple of summers...still a very original car with lots of patina from paint chips to blemishes and some peeling and dents....odometer is over the 100 ......I changed the shifter guide and put in storage last winter where it sat mostly to the end of summer into the fall.. I drove it home and drove 1/2 dozen times, shiter could still use adjusting... one morning it would not start and that is wher we are at right now.. it does not make a click when you turn the key...I assume it is the battery or something with a wire connection, or worse case a starter....anyway, I have decided to list it for sale in as is condition....if it warms up I may try and put a charge on the battery....the pics make the car look nicer than it is...it is a survivor car that has not had any type of restoration.....it has an adjustable front beam, and the car has been lowered in the past...it has the push out rear windows, radio delete.....lots of flaws and chips in the paint that is very worn but still holds a shine......the window regulators are sticky and wore out as are the door hinges and strikers.... the running boards are rusty and need to be recovered... I thought of replacing them but am afraid the rockers would need to be replaced if i was to start taking bolts off...the heater channels are not funtional due to the fact they were full of holes..... the floor pans have been patched over the years and the passenger side floor is pretty bad... but the patches are water tight and I used the bug for a driver,..... so my only concerns were with keeping the interior water tight... It does have a new carpet installed a few years back.... the dash and the headliner are very original as are the door panels....thr front seats have some old vw covers on them and the rear seats have a fabric over them..the exhaust will need some work with a few of the pipes rusting.....see pics.......anyway, nice running car and is clean inside, what you see is what you get...good driver for someone wanting to get into a VW... but due to rust issues this may not be a canidate for a restoration but I guess that is my opinion ...just a good survivor car to drive and enjoy as it is.... I drove it often and used it to carry my bikes when I would go cycling as why you see the bike rack.....this is being sold as is no warranty...the value of this car is somewhere between $2000 to $3000...so please don't over bid expecting some great deal on a bug......I am willing to help with loading on a trailer... I would not recomend driving this car any great distance at all, nor driving until you work out any bugs it may have.... so plan on having it towed home..... payapl payment of $80 at close of auction....balance can be paid in person when picking up the car, or if buyer is out of state car will not ship until check clears bank...I reserve the right to end the auction at any time....

You didn't think that Volkswagen was going to come to Geneva armed only with a bunch of European-market minivans and wagons, did you? Of course not. Last week VW gave us our first glimpse at a new show car for the Swiss auto expo, and here it is in full: the Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE. Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this week, the Sport Coupe is envisioned as a successor to the current CC, but beyond previewing a specific model, this concept showcases a new design language that's set to characterize all new VWs to come. And judging by how good it looks from the images in the slideshow above, that could prove to be a very good thing indeed. The concept strikes us as the sleekest iteration yet of the company's flexible MQB architecture that already underpins vehicles as small as the Golf and as large as the new Skoda Superb. It's larger than the current CC in every dimension but height, and pushes the wheels further out on a longer wheelbase. And with a liftgate at the back instead of a trunk, it strikes a form more similar to the Audi A7 than the Passat-based CC. As with recent past concepts, VW has taken the opportunity to showcase its hybrid powertrain technologies, fitting the Sport Coupe with a plug-in hybrid system that couples a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 to a pair of electric motors and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The internal combustion engine drives 295 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels, while an electric motor integrated into the gearbox contributes another 54 hp and a second one kicks in 114 hp at the rear. Juiced by a lithium-ion battery housed in the center tunnel and offering all-wheel traction, the combined output of 374 hp is said to be capable of propelling the concept to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat and on to a top speed of 155 mph. It can travel for 32 miles on electric power alone and on to an overall range of 745 miles, netting the equivalent of 118 miles per gallon on the European cycle. Inside, the four-seat cabin is laden with digital displays: there's a 12.3-inch unit – dominated by the speedo and power meter Â– in place of a conventional instrument cluster. The center stack incorporates a 10.1-inch infotainment display, and the rear-seat passengers have access to another 12.3-inch display at the back of the center console and another pair of 10.1-inch displays in the seatbacks.

Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'

From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
