This is my original 1959 vw bug, it is perfect for a full restoration or a wonderfully fun driver. I have media blasted the entire exterior of the car including the body, the fenders, the hood, the doors, the wheels, and the deck lid. There is no rust in this car body or chassis. The floors of the car are still in the factory gloss black, this includes the back deck and the battery box area. I finished the exterior in epoxy sealer primer. The 36 hp engine is rebuilt including the clutch. I also restored the complete braking system. Other new parts on the car include a new windshield , new window seals, new door seals, new running boards, a new battery, a new reserve tank switch, new hubcaps, and new exhaust tips. The car also features the original flat fold tab hood with wolfsburg crest and folding prop rod,an original pressboard wiring cover and the original glovebox. The interior of the car is also stock but is showing it's age the headliner is a goner and the tops of the seats are worn out but the original rubber flooring is still hanging in there. I love this car. It will do and honest 80 mph on a flat stretch of freeway and will get 35 mpg at 60 mph . You cannot go wrong with this car be it great restoration vehicle or super fun driver. VW Jetta GLI, Peugeot 505 are MotorWeek's 1986 Euro sport sedan alternatives
Tue, Dec 23 2014Video reviews have become a mainstay of automotive journalism, but long before every publication turned on its video cameras and started uploading to YouTube, there was one program that was blazing the trail. That, of course, was MotorWeek, the television car program produced by Maryland Public Television and hosted by the inimitable John Davis. The program first aired back in 1981, and after more than three decades in the business, it's got a considerable archive of old episodes to unearth. In this latest gem recovered from the MotorWeek back catalog, the program pitted two European sports sedans against each other: a Volkswagen Jetta GLI and a Peugeot 505 Turbo. That's right: back in the 1980s, Peugeot was still competing in the US marketplace. The forced-induction 505 may not have been enough to keep the French automaker in American showrooms, but it was enough to stand up against the VW. Which one won MotorWeek's favor? Volkswagen E-Co-Motion Concept brings electric mobility to the commercial set
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Volkswagen sees a future where the bulk of the world's freight is moved into city centers by train, then offloaded onto a fleet of smaller, light-duty commercial vehicles for final delivery. Those vehicles could wind up looking something like the company's E-Co-Motion Concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The EV features a modular underfloor drive unit comprised of a battery, motor and gearbox that can be paired with any number of cab and body configurations to suit a buyer's needs, from a refrigerated box to a standard flat bed.
The E-Co-Motion Concept features a rear-mounted electric motor with 113 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. A standard 20 kWh battery pack provides a driving range of up to 62 miles, while 30 kWh and 40 kWh packs could deliver 93 and 124 miles of travel, respectively. Tanner Foust drifts Rockstar Passat around US Cycling TT course
Fri, May 22 2015The USA Cycling Time Trials take place on Saturday in Chattanooga, TN. That's also where Volkswagen has its US headquarters. So in honor of the event, VW decided to have a little fun involving Tanner Foust and a 900-horsepower Rockstar Drift car. That's a 900-hp Passat, by the way. Pro cyclist Tim Johnson rides along with Foust, showing him the intricacies of the cycling TT course. But of course, with a 900-hp drift car at his disposal, Foust makes use of roundabouts and turnaround points to do what he does best. We won't spoil the rest of the short, minute-and-fifteen-second video posted above. But if you like smoky drifts from super-modified midsize sedans, this clip is for you.
