Volkswagen Other Dune Buggy on 2040-cars
Darien, Illinois, United States
This is an original 1966 Meyers Tow'd Dune Buggy. I have owned it for over 40 years. It is street legal and is titled in Illinois. This is my 3rd Dune Buggy that I have built and owned. I am turning 63 years old next week. My wife of 39 years, said it's time to get rid of my toys. I have used this toy before I was married and have grown-up 4 children to adulthood. I used to race this dune buggy, driven all over off the road, and used it on the street. It's been sitting in garage for over 5 years. It's TIME to go! When I was young and stupid, I used to ride it off road. I cut off the front-end nose of the fiberglass body at the bumper. I mounted an electric wench to get me out of trouble, which is not there now. I have included many pictures. There is an extra set of rear Terra Tires and Wheels. There is a spare front and rear tire. Before I stopped using the buggy, I made new set pads and covers. There are full body Roll Bars. The Tow'd is being sold AS IS where is. There is NO warranty. Shipping is up to the buyer. A $500.00 payment thru Paypal is due at the closing bid and the remainder is to be paid by Cash, Cashiers Check, or Wire Transfer within 7 Days. Please ask any questions Before you bid.

VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
World Car Of The Year down to its final four
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
Judges for the World Car of the Year Award have narrowed down the finalists to just four vehicles. Out of a total of 42 entries, only the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Porsche Boxster/Cayman, Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT-86 and Volkswagen Golf remain standing. For Volkswagen, this marks the second consecutive year the company has had an entry among the finalists, and the fourth time since 2009. In order to qualify, a vehicle must be on sale on two continents during the span of time between January 1, 2013 and May 30, 2013. A panel of 66 journalists from 23 countries then vote on the finalists.
Three vehicles have made the cut for the last round of voting on the 2013 World Performance Car as well, with the Cayman/Boxster and FR-S/BRZ/GT-86 running against the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Meanwhile, the Renault Zoe, Tesla Model S and Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid are duking it out for the World Green Car Award. Finally, the World Car Design of the Year Award is up for grabs between the Aston Martin Vanquish, Jaguar F-Type, and the Mazda6. Check out the full press release below. Overall winners will be presented at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
