HISTORY:
I purchased this car with 60,000 miles a little over a year ago with from Elk Mountain Audi in Glenwood Springs, CO while I was living in Aspen. It was purchased new in Denver then purchased CPO by its 2nd owner with 1906 miles from Elk Mountain Audi. The 2nd owner lived in Aspen and had all service done at the dealership. The only reason for selling it is that I now live in Boston and simply don't have the need for a car.

DETAILS/CONDITION:
Overall, this car is in good condition with low miles for the year.

Exterior - Minor nicks/scratches/scuffs/dings consistent with the age and mileage. I have tried to capture these in the photographs.

Interior -  Nearly flawless, almost none of the button wear that VW's are known for, only minor wear on front window switches and drivers side fan control.
Leather, wood, aluminum all in excellent condition. Carpet in excellent shape except for a tear on the drivers side seat base.

Mechanical - Timing belt/water pump service recently completed at the dealership. Ive put 20,000 miles on this car over the last year with zero issues. Oil
recently changed. No known issues/warning lights etc. The car runs flawlessly, shifts well, stops, steers, and handles as new. Drive anywhere

If you are a serious buyer please call me at 413-374-9897 so we can discuss the car and do a detailed walk around. I don't want there to be any surprises. If you are local I strongly encourage you to come drive the car and inspect it in person. The roof rack is not included in the sale.

I truly love this car. It is very safe and excellent in wintery conditions. It is solid, stable and quiet on the highway. It has acceleration and handling that belies it's off road capabilities. It has a tight turning radius and is surprisingly agile. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and the sound system is great. It is a clean colorado car with low miles. The major timing belt/water pump service is done and was performed at the dealership at of cost of over 2k. Like I said I have put over 20,000 miles on this car over the past year or so and it has been faultless.

Piech and Winterkorn still at odds about VW leadership plan

Wed, Apr 15 2015

Volkswagen Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech (above, right) and CEO Martin Winterkorn (above, left) will be meeting in the coming days to discuss who the next leader of the Volkswagen Group will be. This, of course, comes after a report last Friday in Der Spiegel where Piech said he didn't want Winterkorn to be the automaker's next chairman. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that conference room. As Automotive News reports, Winterkorn had been widely viewed as the probable replacement for the 77-year-old Piech, until last week, when the current chairman said he was keeping the CEO "at a distance," in the German paper. While Winterkorn confirmed to German media on Monday that he still had a job, analysts aren't sure what Piech's comments will mean for the 67-year-old CEO's future, with some indicating he may end up being a "lame duck" leader. According to AN, Piech doesn't think that Winterkorn has the vision to lead the sprawling Volkswagen Group empire, even though the current CEO has the support of a number of other VAG stakeholders. "Piech knows what he is doing and will assume that he can get the supervisory board to implement his decisions," former BMW executive turned analyst Helmut Becker told German media, AN reports. Winterkorn has just over 18 months left on his contract, while Piech's term has another two years left on it, meaning it will still be some time before we find out how the Volkswagen Group's leadership issues play out.

VW may move production because of Russia's cutoff of natural gas

Sun, Sep 25 2022

Volkswagen AG is exploring ways to counter a shortage in natural gas, including shifting production around its network of global facilities, signaling how the energy crisis unleashed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine threatens to upend EuropeÂ’s industrial landscape. Volkswagen, EuropeÂ’s biggest carmaker, said Thursday that reallocating some of its production was one of the options available in the medium term if gas shortages last much beyond this winter. The company has major factories in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which are among European countries most reliant on Russian gas, as well as facilities in southern Europe that source energy from elsewhere. “As mid-term alternatives, we are focusing on greater localization, relocation of manufacturing capacity, or technical alternatives, similar to what is already common practice in the context of challenges related to semiconductor shortages and other recent supply chain disruptions,” Geng Wu, VolkswagenÂ’s head of purchasing, said in a statement.  RussiaÂ’s decision to throttle gas supplies to Europe has raised concerns that Germany might be forced to ration its fuel. Recent news that gas storage levels hit 90% ahead of schedule has soothed fears of acute shortages this winter, but Germany faces a challenge in replenishing depleted reserves next summer without contributions from Russia. Southwestern Europe or coastal zones of northern Europe, both of which have better access to seaborne liquefied natural gas cargoes, could be the beneficiaries of any production shift, a Volkswagen spokesman said by phone. The Volkswagen group already operates car factories in Portugal, Spain and Belgium, countries that host LNG terminals. Labor hurdles To be sure, any major production shift away from EuropeÂ’s biggest economy would face significant hurdles. VW has some 295,000 employees in Germany and worker representatives account for around half the companyÂ’s 20-member supervisory board. Any shift in production would likely involve a limited number of vehicles rather than wholesale factory shutdowns. While gas supplies for VWÂ’s plants are currently secured, the company has identified potential savings at its European sites to cut gas consumption by a “mid-double-digit percentage,” said Michael Heinemann, managing director of VWÂ’s power-plant unit. Still, the carmaker said it was concerned about the effect high gas prices could have on its suppliers.

Volkswagen is not cool with a Fiat Chrysler merger

Wed, Mar 8 2017

Volkswagen CEO Matthias Mueller shot down Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne's overtures for a merger in blunt fashion this week. Mueller told Reuters at the Geneva Motor Show, "We are not ready for talks about anything ... we have other problems. I haven't seen Marchionne for months." The unusually candid – and icy – response from one chief executive to another comes after Marchionne similarly pursued General Motors (again) this week. The FCA boss suggested GM might be looking for a new European partner as it prepares to unload its troubled Opel and Vauxhall divisions to PSA. A GM spokesman told USA Today that the company is not interested. Marchionne has been openly suggesting a GM merger since at least 2015, despite GM never reciprocating interest. VW's "other problems," as Mueller notes, include legal proceedings, fines, recalls, and other issues related to its long-running diesel scandal. Marchionne has long sought industry consolidation, arguing that automakers don't get a proper return on their investments in technologies, some of which are relatively similar. He's suggested sharing chassis and powertrain components could be a benefit to the collective auto sector. Skeptics argue FCA, which is smaller than GM, VW, Toyota, and others, needs a partner to survive, while its rivals already have the necessary scale to remain competitive. Related Video:
