1973 VW Thing For Sale

This is a beautiful thing.
I mean...really...a beautiful Thing!

Located in New Brunswick Canada in the hands of a fanatical owner
who has truly gone through it from stem to stearn to make it the wonderful example that it is.

Loaded with nearly every possible accessory and cool add on that is available out there,
Including a very slick little matching trailer!

This is just a cool as they get...a car that someone has really
gone to town with and had a LOT of fun accessorizing and detailing out.
Its a conversation starter wherever it goes and a big hit at the VW shows!

Beautifully finished, always kept indoors and wiped with a soft cloth.
This is someones "baby" and it really shows.

Full roll cage , side curtains, top boot, reverse light, wheel trim rings...etc etc etc

Body mount mirror adaptors so you can easily remove the doors and still have your mirror!
Check out the fantastic side curtains with the sliding window like the old VW Bus.

Gas heater

Modern audio system
Custom pedal pads, coco mats, center console...it has it all!

Great plate!!

Modern retractable seat belts

Coco mats throughout, great "duckboards", nice cammo seat covers over perfect restored seats.

Rollbar mounted speakers.

Nice luggage rack on the hood with the wood load strips.
Hella driving lights,  brush guard, cool VW logo badge

VW logo mudflaps...a couple great bumper stickers too!

Coco mat up front in the trunk as well.
Nice to see the original jack is here as well as an extra one for the trailer.

Seats are excellent under the soft custom fit seat covers.

Locking storage in the back doors.
(very cool accessory!)

Wolfsburg logo seat belts up front

Auxiliary oil filter

Roomy and simple lightweight cargo trailer

Nice new matching spare

Side curtains are in excellent shape

The padded rollbar with the speakers set in the corners is pretty slick!

Here is a better photo of the locking storage doors in the back...so cool!

Doors easily remove for open air motoring

Very nice custom steering wheel with Wolfsburg crest center

The body on the car is excellent, but nothing is "perfect"...I always like to try to find a flaw somewhere
and here is a small one down very low...a small blister just starting in the paint.

Carpet, and coco mats

Side curtains do have a storage bag!

Top is excellent!

Recently built 1776cc engine was pro-built in California and shipped to the owner.
Over $4000 !

Extra gauges, a glove box door and under dash parcel tray

Dash is excellent!

I love the matching logos on the trailer!

Engine is very clean and runs superb!

Running boards are another very uncommon accessory...and they look great!

Locking gas cap

Cool military first aid kit!

Excellent tires on the proper Thing wheels with trim rings and nicely detailed hubcaps

Custom exhaust is fantastic

Battery area is very clean

Trailer hitch

Extremely solid underneath

Nice!!

Spotless under here!

Disc brakes!

Very clean!

Included in the sale is a very nice collection of Thing sales brochures and memorabilia including the original window sticker
a parts list and full service manual.

This hand written list documents the majority of expenses.
Over $26,000 total invested in the car.

A full receipt for the engine work is also included.

In closing this is really a great car.
Well done, well detailed and something that obviously shows the results of a very loving and enthusiastic
owner that made it his pride and joy.
All good "things" must come to an end, so now is the time to see it off to a new home.
Whoever ends up with this one is going to have a blast!

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.

Interested, then not: Marchionne not 'chasing' a VW merger

Tue, Mar 14 2017

Update (March 15, 2017) : Automotive News reports that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne, regarding the suggested VW and FCA merger, said in a press conference "I have no interest." He also said that he "will not call Matthias," the CEO of VW. He did add that he would be willing to entertain anything VW brings up, but he has "no intention of chasing him." Despite this, Marchionne still took a moment to reinforce his favorable stance concerning mergers and consolidation. Last week, Volkswagen's CEO Matthias Mueller effectively shut down Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne's idea of the two automakers merging. However, it seems Mueller has softened, if only just, to the idea. According to Reuters, the CEO said in a press conference he is "not ruling out a conversation." However, he did say that he would like Marchionne to discuss with him directly the possibility rather than to the media. Though this statement certainly doesn't mean such a merger is happening, it's far more open than when he said outright the company isn't in any talks with anyone at the moment. His new stance also indicates that there may be people (lawyers, accountants, etc.) behind the scenes working out possible ways a merger could work. And even though this new development makes the prospect of a merger between the two companies a bit less bleak, it's still a long way from the "will they, won't they" relationship between GM and FCA. FCA's pursuit of GM involved emailing CEO Mary Barra and the threats of a hostile takeover, the latter of which resulted in some awkward statements about hugs. Only time will tell if VW becomes open enough for Marchionne to talk about hugs again. Related Video:
