2011 Volkswagen VW Jetta TDI Wagon– Glass Roof - Extended Warranty

Up for auction is my 76 year old mom’s VW Jetta Turbo Diesel Wagon (Black on Black) with the Panorama Glass Roof.   The story of this car really is the proverbial old lady driving it very carefully and slowly.  She and my dad bought it new, and since my dad passed, she is consolidating vehicles down to a single SUV since she needs a car that is great in the snow.   This car is garage kept and has approximately 27,300 miles.

In addition to the cleanliness of the car, my mom and dad also took the car to the dealer for every milestone service.   So the car has all documents regarding service and maintenance.   In addition to the factory 3 year warranty, they purchased an additional 3-year warranty which is the Fidelity Platinum package – Yes this is in fact the authorized VW factory warranty.  There are other warranty providers out there but Fidelity is the VW primary factory authorized warranty provider.  The car and the extended warranty were purchased October 22, 2010 and it has the 6 Year 72,000 mile extended warranty which covers through 10/22/2016 or 72,000 miles.  The cost of this warranty was $1,732.  It has 2.5 years left.   The value of this warranty with 2.5 years left is $1,443.  And if you were to buy a similar VW privately without the warranty, you could not add the Fidelity warranty.

The pro rated value of the warranty is being added to the Average Kelly Blue Book value and the NADA value to arrive at a Buy It Now Price.

According to NADA, the value of this car is as follows:

Clean Trade-in $20,025 and Clean Retail is $22,875 – Average is $21,450

According to KBB the value of this car is as follows:

Excellent condition Trade In is $19,317 and Excellent condition private party sale is $21,017 – Average is $20,167

The Buy It Now Price is the average of the 2 averages above ($20,808), plus $1,443 for the prorated extended warranty. So, the price to take it today is $22,251.  I’ve set the reserve a little under that, but this is a fair deal by all standards, and it’s a very lightly used and well maintained TDI.

There are a couple of scratches on the wheels but nothing major, there are also some light scratches on the rear bumper which have been photographed up close.  They would likely buff out but I can’t promise that.  The car is black on black and there are no flaws on the interior anywhere.  There are also no dings anywhere.  It has blue tooth and heated front seats that work great.  We went overboard with photos to make it as absolutely clear as possible.   She is fine from top to bottom and front to back.

Weekly Recap: 2016 CTS-V gives Cadillac new momentum for the new year

Sat, Dec 27 2014

It's been a rough year for Cadillac. The historic luxury carmaker been in the news for all of the wrong reasons: Declining sales, ditching its advertising agency and the relocation of its headquarters from Detroit to New York. But in late December, Cadillac reminded everyone what it does best: Build some of the rawest and most compelling luxury sedans in the world, as evidenced by the 2016 CTS-V. This monster churns out 640 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Sound familiar? That's the Corvette Z06 engine, and it makes this CTS the most powerful production Cadillac ever. It also puts the sporting divisions of the Germans on notice. The new CTS-V easily overpowers the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic and its 5.5-liter biturbo V8 rated at 577 hp, and the BMW M5 (with the competition pack) and its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that pushes out 575 hp. The rear-wheel drive Cadillac can sprint to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds, which is close to the 3.5-second time turned in by the 4Matic-driven E63 S, and a bit quicker than the 4.1 seconds posted by the M5. With Magnetic Ride Control, General Motors' stout eight-speed automatic transmission (also used in the Corvette), Brembo brakes and a carbon-fiber option package that pretty much builds your car out of carbon fiber – it's clear this Cadillac means business. Truth be told, we expected this CTS-V to deliver. It's been a serious sports sedan for a decade, and the recent generation and its 556-hp arrogance have been particularly memorable. But notice what we're doing here? We're talking about product. Not who makes Cadillac's ads, or if the brand's headquarters has a mailing address in NYC. Like the 2016 ATS-V that's due in the spring, the debut of the 2016 CTS-V (on sale in late summer) is a shot in the arm for Cadillac, and its arrival comes during time of transition. The brand is trying to reinvent itself as a modern luxury maker. It wants new customers, a different image and obviously more sales. Those things are going to take time, but with a 640-hp sledgehammer of a sports sedan on tap for next year, Cadillac can still maintain some of its swagger through all of the change. Volkswagen shows off performance-ish Passat concept

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

As part of its 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut package, Volkswagen has rolled out a sportier version of the Passat sedan, though it's strictly conceptual for now. A small dose of go-fast visuals have been added to the handsome Volkswagen, including 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, an advanced front lighting system, LED taillamps and dual exhaust. Some carbon bits and upgraded leather are found inside the cabin, as well.
But the real performance chops come in the form of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends 250 horsepower to the Passat's front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. That's a good boost in power over the 170 hp of the base 2.5-liter inline-five, but not quite as potent as the 3.6-liter VR6. A lowered sport suspension and revised electronic steering are also on hand, making things slightly more involving out on the road... we assume.
It's not quite the performance concept we were hoping for, but a more enthusiastic Passat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scroll down for the press release.

This semi-autonomous stroller from VW is a great idea

Thu, Aug 13 2015

We're still on the fence about the prospect of autonomous vehicles. On the one hand, they promise to make commuting a breeze and collisions a thing of the past. On the other, they stand to take us away from the steering wheel, and that's something we can't abide. But an autonomous stroller, now that's the kind of idea we can get behind. Shame such a thing doesn't exist... right? That's what we assumed until we saw this spot from Volkswagen. The German automaker's Dutch office posted on Facebook, asking the public for suggestions on how the company might improve other products, aside from automobiles. The most popular response was a baby stroller with automatic braking. So they went ahead and built one. The resulting prototype – and we're sorry to report that it's just a prototype for the time being – doesn't just have automatic braking. It can even follow the parent (or nanny or whomever) around under its own power and with its own steering. It's got the adaptive cruise control sensor from a Golf and is programmed to keep a fixed distance from the guardian in front. Or so the video suggests, at any rate. There's a good chance that there's some manner of trickery going on here, probably in the form of a hidden engineer off-screen with a remote control, and hopefully without an actual baby on board. Whether it's real or not, the invention in the commercial is sure to pique the interest of the parents among us, and maybe get those without kids thinking about taking that big step... stroller autonomously in tow.
