2006 Volkswagon Jetta Tdi on 2040-cars
Mount Laurel, New Jersey, United States
You are bidding on a single owner 2006 Volkswagon Jetta TDI. As described in the vehicle condition section, the car is not perfect but it is in very good shape for its age and mileage. This car was used as a commuting vehicle and most of the miles were all on the open highway. All maintenance has been kept up with. The clutch has been replaced and is currently in great shape. Timing belt was replaced at approximately 100,000 miles. Both front wheel hubs have been replaced (I consider this a normal maintenance item given the mileage and age). There has been some other mechanical work done and all major work has been done at the VW service center. All maintenance records are available on request. Very high quality tires (Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus) were installed around 190,000 miles and are in excellent condition. There is an existing 80,000 mile manufacturer's warranty on the tires (about 63,000 miles remaining) which is transferrable to the new owner. The tires have been rotated and balanced on schedule. It is about due for a tire rotation. The seller will have the tires rotated and balanced and an alignment performed at no additional cost prior to delivery upon buyer's request. The vehicle has also had regular alignments performed. The rear brakes were recently replaced and are in very good condition. All original owners manuals and other documentation (even including the window sticker!) is available and included with the vehicle. All original keys are included: 2 full function "remote" keys as well as 1 "valet" key. Wheel lock is also included. The car rides very well and is still very "tight" given it's age.
Everything on the vehicle works perfectly...all electronics (radio, controls, heated seats, heated mirrors, power windows, cruise control, windshield wipers, door locks, etc.) mechanical, A/C, heat, and lights. The only exception is the accessory left turn signal on the side view mirror. This is likely just a bulb that needs to be replaced. Other than that one bulb, EVERYTHING on the vehicle works just like new. The vehicle is equipped with Sirius Satellite radio. SiriusXM service is currently active but there is no guarantee it will remain active and a subscription is not included with the sale. The premium sound system is very nice and has always been one of the best features of the car. The sound is very high quality, good amount of bass, and really helps to make a long ride more enjoyable. This car has served the single owner very well since it was purchased new. The mileage shown on the listing and in the photos is current as of the listing date. Final mileage at the time of sale may be up to 100 miles greater due to incidental driving, requested test drives, etc. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I'll try to provide as much information as possible. I have bought and sold cars on EBay before and I have always had very good experience. The starting price is "priced to sell" so don't think it is a low price because there's something wrong with the car. This sale is auction style to the highest bidder. Good luck! Shipping Details: Seller will deliver the vehicle to the buyer free of charge only to a location within 25 miles of zip code 08055 in the US. Outside of that range a delivery charge can be negotiated up to 100 miles from zip code 08055 or buyer can arrange for a carrier service. Outside of 100 miles from zip code 08055 buyer is responsible to make arrangements and pay for shipping of vehicle. Payment in full must be received prior to releasing vehicle for shipment. |

2015 VW Beetle GRC packs 553 rallycrossing horsepower
Fri, May 1 2015In case you couldn't tell from all the wings and vents, this is not your average Volkswagen Beetle. It's the rally machine Tanner Foust and Scott Speed will be driving in the Global Rallycross Championship this year. Don't let the retro form fool you – it is an absolute beast. Last year's Beetle GRC packed a 1.6-liter turbo four good for an astonishing 544 horsepower and 387 pound-feet of torque, but the new one does one better: it now features a 2.0-liter turbo four good for 553 hp and 465 lb-ft. That's right – in a Beetle. It's also got ZF dampers, 9.5 inches of suspension travel, 14-inch front brake discs with four-piston calipers packed into 17-inch wheels and, of course, all-wheel drive. The result? 0-60 in – wait for it – two seconds flat (or thereabouts). It's geared low so it'll only top out at around 125 miles per hour, but that's all it needs for the short tracks on which it's designed to compete. Foust and Speed will be driving this beast for Andretti Autosport in the 2015 championship that kicks off at the end of May in Ft. Lauderdale. Both have quite the act to follow as Foust won back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012, and former F1 driver Speed won three rounds last season to finish third in the standings. Related Video: VOLKSWAGEN ANDRETTI RALLYCROSS TEAM UPDATES BEETLE GRC CARS FOR 2015 SEASON Tanner Foust and Scott Speed will contest the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship with a pair of 2.0-liter Beetles Indianapolis, IN (April 29th, 2015) - After a strong performance in its inaugural season, the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team is ready to challenge for this year's driver and manufacturer titles in the Global Rallycross Championship. In 2015, the team will be on the attack with two Beetle GRC race cars, which debuted in the final races of 2014. This rallycross car is the ultimate expression of the third-generation Beetle. Designed and engineered from the outset as a GRC car, it features a sequential six-speed transmission, with a fixed-ratio all-wheel-drive system that features multiplate limited-slip differentials at the front and rear. For the 2015 season, the team has chosen to change the engine specification from the car that ran in selected rounds of the 2014 series. In place of that car's 1.6-liter turbocharged and intercooled TSI® four-cylinder engine, there is now a 2.0-liter TSI engine that produces 553 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, compared to 544 hp and 387 lb-ft for the 2014 car.
Volkswagen Tiguan arrives with chiseled looks, GTE plug-in model [w/video]
Tue, Sep 15 2015After a long run, Volkswagen has finally retired the first-generation Tiguan crossover in favor of the larger, more chiseled second-generation model. The new compact is longer, wider, and lower than the more upright CUV that came before it. Yet, as we covered in our original post, the new Tig is also over 100 pounds lighter. The bodywork is conservative but handsome; typical of newer VWs. We see plenty of Passat and Touareg in the fascia, which features a three-bar grille that integrates neatly with the slightly canted, rectangular headlights. The beltline looks higher than today's Tiguan, and sits below a more aggressive greenhouse, which is a welcomed change after the soft, crossovery looks of the last-gen model. While VW has only released European powertrain options – there are eight engine options, split evenly between gas and diesel and boasting anywhere from 123 to 237 horsepower – we'll expect a far smaller roster for the US. Look for VW's familiar 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder to feature prominently in both front- and all-wheel-drive models, while we're personally hoping VW will see the light and offer a 2.0-liter TDI Tiguan. Of course, there's more than just gas and diesel for the new Tiggy. The all-new GTE model promises plug-in capability. Expect 31 miles of electric range and 215 system horsepower. There are even solar panels on the roof which could generate up to an extra 600 miles per year of driving range. VOLKSWAGEN REVEALS ALL-NEW EUROPEAN TIGUAN AT THE FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW Based off the MQB platform, the new European Tiguan revolutionizes the compact SUV • Powerful, authentic SUV design of the new Tiguan was completely reconfigured. • Tiguan is the first Volkswagen Group SUV to be based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB). • Longer, wider, lower – new vehicle architecture enables sportier proportions • Tiguan makes its debut at the IAA in an R-Line version, a classic on-road version and a version with an off-road front end. • Volkswagen is also showing the Tiguan GTE in Frankfurt with a plug-in hybrid drive and 1.9 litre per 100 km fuel consumption. • Newly conceptualised solar roof module for the Tiguan GTE increases its electric driving range. • Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, active hood, Lane Assist and the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System are fitted as standard.
Rising aluminum costs cut into Ford's profit
Wed, Jan 24 2018When Ford reports fourth-quarter results on Wednesday afternoon, it is expected to fret that rising metals costs have cut into profits, even as rivals say they have the problem under control. Aluminum prices have risen 20 percent in the last year and nearly 11 percent since Dec. 11. Steel prices have risen just over 9 percent in the last year. Ford uses more aluminum in its vehicles than its rivals. Aluminum is lighter but far more expensive than steel, closing at $2,229 per tonne on Tuesday. U.S. steel futures closed at $677 per ton (0.91 metric tonnes). Republican U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is weighing whether to impose tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, which could push prices even higher. Ford gave a disappointing earnings estimate for 2017 and 2018 last week, saying the higher costs for steel, aluminum and other metals, as well as currency volatility, could cost the company $1.6 billion in 2018. Ford shares took a dive after the announcement. Ford Chief Financial Officer Bob Shanks told analysts at a conference in Detroit last week that while the company benefited from low commodity prices in 2016, rising steel prices were now the main cause of higher costs, followed by aluminum. Shanks said the automaker at times relies on foreign currencies as a "natural hedge" for some commodities but those are now going in the opposite direction, so they are not working. A Ford spokesman added that the automaker also uses a mix of contracts, hedges and indexed buying. Industry analysts point to the spike in aluminum versus steel prices as a plausible reason for Ford's problems, especially since it uses far more of the expensive metal than other major automakers. "When you look at Ford in the context of the other automakers, aluminum drives a lot of their volume and I think that is the cause" of their rising costs, said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at auto consultancy LMC Automotive. Other major automakers say rising commodity costs are not much of a problem. At last week's Detroit auto show, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne reiterated its earnings guidance for 2018 and held forth on a number of topics, but did not mention metals prices. General Motors Co gave a well-received profit outlook last week and did not mention the subject. "We view changes in raw material costs as something that is manageable," a GM spokesman said in an email.
