Up for auction is a 2002 Jetta TDI Diesel MKIV with the ALH motor. This car is my wife's daily driver and may have a few hundred additional miles by auctions end.  We purchased the car from a dealer in South Carolina via an ebay auction about seven years ago and it has been very reliable.  The car runs great with no problems. The engine and transmission are 100%, smooth shifting automatic and plenty of power from the 1.9L engine. There are no visible fluid leaks and the undercarriage is dry. The suspension has new bushings and ball joints and the handling is very good. The brakes are quiet and have plenty of stopping power, the pads and rotors were replaced last summer and still have 75% remaining. The tires are also about a year old with about 75% tread left. All the power options work properly and the climate control blows both cold and hot air. I have been a member of ebay since 1999 bid with confidence.

Exterior Description

The exterior is in good condition and looks great in blue. The paint looks nice, but has some scratches and chips.  There is no visible rust. Under inspection you can find several dings and a few small dents. Windshield and the rest of the glass is free of chips or cracks. The wheels are in good condition with some scratches. The car was involved in a minor accident a few years ago that involved a repair to the drivers side rear quarter panel and rear door. The pinstripping was never repainted on the rear drivers side door.  There is also a scuff on the front bumper cover from scraping a curb which I tried to show in the photos.

Interior Description

The non-smoking interior is just as good as the rest of the car and is fully loaded with luxury options. The leather seats are in good condition with no stains. Headliner and rear window carpet have a few stains. The car is loaded with great options you would expect from a luxury car including, power mirrors, stereo with CD and cassette player, power windows, power locks, heated front seats, power glass sunroof, TDI Diesel engine and automatic transmission. The carpet is in good shape with no major stains. The armrest while intact, seems a bit loose.  Did I mention the heated seats?

Editors' Picks May 2021 | BMW M3, Toyota Camry and some hot Golfs

Thu, Jun 3 2021

We awarded Editors’ Picks status to a number of performance cars this month, but a couple more regular sedans won out, too. April saw us recognize four models, but that increases to six for May. As the weather warms up here in Michigan, we tend to get into the sports cars that we missed driving all winter, resulting in a sports car-heavy month of testing. That explains why the list this month is so heavy on sports cars and hot hatches. In case you missed our previous couple Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in May that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Toyota Camry 2021 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid View 22 Photos Quick take: The Toyota Camry retains its place as one of the best midsize sedans you can buy. It comes in a variety of trims and powertrains, from the potent TRD model to the fuel-sipping hybrid. It's an attractive, functional and well-rounded car offering value and function. Score: 8.5 What it competes with: Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5, Nissan Altima, Mazda6, Subaru Legacy, VW Passat, Chevy Malibu Pros: Highly versatile, efficient hybrid, fun-to-drive sport models Cons: Average infotainment, polarizing exterior, slow base four-cylinder From the editors: Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore — “The Camry is one of the standard bearers in the midsize segment. With many companies abandoning this area, the ones that remain — like Toyota — do it well. Long a bastion of boring design and sleepy driving dynamics, the Camry is now legitimately attractive and offers a range of powertrains. It's a solid entry and along with the Honda Accord, makes the case for midsize sedans to exist." VW Sport Coupe Concept GTE 'marks beginning of a new design era' [w/video]

Mon, Mar 2 2015

You didn't think that Volkswagen was going to come to Geneva armed only with a bunch of European-market minivans and wagons, did you? Of course not. Last week VW gave us our first glimpse at a new show car for the Swiss auto expo, and here it is in full: the Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE. Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this week, the Sport Coupe is envisioned as a successor to the current CC, but beyond previewing a specific model, this concept showcases a new design language that's set to characterize all new VWs to come. And judging by how good it looks from the images in the slideshow above, that could prove to be a very good thing indeed. The concept strikes us as the sleekest iteration yet of the company's flexible MQB architecture that already underpins vehicles as small as the Golf and as large as the new Skoda Superb. It's larger than the current CC in every dimension but height, and pushes the wheels further out on a longer wheelbase. And with a liftgate at the back instead of a trunk, it strikes a form more similar to the Audi A7 than the Passat-based CC. As with recent past concepts, VW has taken the opportunity to showcase its hybrid powertrain technologies, fitting the Sport Coupe with a plug-in hybrid system that couples a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 to a pair of electric motors and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The internal combustion engine drives 295 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels, while an electric motor integrated into the gearbox contributes another 54 hp and a second one kicks in 114 hp at the rear. Juiced by a lithium-ion battery housed in the center tunnel and offering all-wheel traction, the combined output of 374 hp is said to be capable of propelling the concept to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat and on to a top speed of 155 mph. It can travel for 32 miles on electric power alone and on to an overall range of 745 miles, netting the equivalent of 118 miles per gallon on the European cycle. Inside, the four-seat cabin is laden with digital displays: there's a 12.3-inch unit – dominated by the speedo and power meter – in place of a conventional instrument cluster. The center stack incorporates a 10.1-inch infotainment display, and the rear-seat passengers have access to another 12.3-inch display at the back of the center console and another pair of 10.1-inch displays in the seatbacks.

Volkswagen Golf Wagon caught completely uncovered

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Without a lot of information to go with them, our camera-toting spies have captured some new images of a Volkswagen Golf wagon variant that is almost completely undisguised. In fact, the one piece of camouflage on the tidy wagon would probably have gone unnoticed to most casual viewers. Look closely at the rear three-quarter view of the car and you'll notice that the apparent taillight clusters are actually fakes - the outline of the real units is faintly visible behind the blue bodywork and the sticker-like fake taillights.
It's a good guess then, that this Golf wagon (called a Golf Kombi by our spy photographer) is a prototype that's pretty far along in the development cycle for Volkswagen. We can't be sure what impact this will have on the company's small wagon offering here in the US, but we'd be pretty surprised if something very like this didn't end up as the next Jetta SportWagen. We might well have more information on that front, after we visit Geneva next week.
