Put $40.00 in the tank and drive about 500 miles before thinking about stopping again!!
HAS THULE ROOF RACKS - NOT PICTURED BUT WILL INCLUDE IF WANTED.
The car rides and drives nicely and I have put 8K miles on it in the 4 months I've had it.  I drive over 30K a year which is why this car saved me a lot of money in just the short time I've had it.

What's Bad:
I've sold vehicles on eBay before and always give a very honest and comprehensive assessment of what the vehicle's problems are.  I don't want the buyer to have any surprises.

I purchased this vehicle from Caliber Imports in Montrose, NY - who deals exclusively in these VW Diesels - I paid $8,800 for the car.  I wanted the VW Diesel because of the amazing mileage (I was told 50 MPG but this gets 45)
I made the mistake of believing the seller about a lot of things, the worst being a clean carfax.  The vehicle does not have a salvage title but the carfax says "structural damage in left front pillar".  This makes the resale a problem, although I had a professional body mechanic inspect the car and was told that either there was no damage or it was fixed so well that there's no way to tell.  The car rides very nicely, especially on the highway.  I will email you a scan of the carfax or you can check the Vehicle History Report eBay provides.  The eBay vehicle history report does not have the same warning about "possible structural damage" as carfax - but the buyer should know that the carfax paints a darker picture of the vehicle's history.

Otherwise, there are some issues where you will have to spend some money, which is why I'm not keeping it.  For me to put more money into the car would mean that I spent what amounts to the price of a reasonable new car on a used car, so it is best that I sell this car, proceed civilly against Caliber Imports, and buy new.

I've had this car checked by 2 different mechanics because I have a small claim filed against the seller so I will list what both Danbury Volkswagen  and Meccanic Shop North in North Salem, NY found alongside the problem I describe.

Cranks slowly on cold start -
Fault for quantity adjuster in injection pump, failing starter.

Squeaking in front end -
Sway bar bushings, brackets, front struts

Has on occasion bogged, worst case on a very steep hill with three (3) people in the vehicle -
Mass air sensor

Glove box door won't close.
Replace door.

Musty smell
Replace carpets.

Meccanic Shop North is very well known or servicing high end foreign cars, and their estimate to bring the car into a very sound mechanical condition was $1,383.79.
Danbury Volkswagen (dealers are know for outrageous service fees) came in at around four times that amount - $5295.00

To the right person, this car is very valuable.  I still drive it daily and I'm saving a ton of money over my F250 diesel that gets about 14 MPG.  I noticed right away how I have a lot more spending cash driving this car around.

I'm listing it at $1,200 more than the cost of the radio which is brand new and wish everyone luck bidding.

I just noticed a small chip in the windshield which I will have repaired.

VW of Danbury indicated that there is some oil seepage from valve cover gasket.

2015 Volkswagen Touareg TDI Quick Spin [w/video]

Thu, Jul 9 2015

There are two particularly great things about diesel-powered cars: torque and range. The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg TDI has both in spades. We put 190 miles on our test car, and upon return, the computer claimed we still had 490 miles to go. We weren't even averaging the EPA-estimaged 29 miles per gallon highway. Plus, that's in a sport-utility vehicle with tons of room and a whopping 406 pound-feet of torque. That said, our most recent adventure with the Touareg wasn't totally positive. This thing feels decidedly long in the tooth, despite a 2014 refresh. Driving Notes The Touareg TDI's powertrain really is the star of the show. The 3.0-liter, turbodiesel V6 has been in service since 2009, but it's still a dynamite engine. With 240 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which can be called upon at just 2,000 rpm, there's no shortage of thrust under your right foot. Turbo lag is an issue when you get aggressive with the throttle, but don't drive like a boob and you'll be fine. ZF's critically acclaimed eight-speed automatic delivers that power to all four wheels. But where other ZF-equipped vehicles deliver a crisper, sharper character, the TDI's trans is tuned for a far more relaxed driving experience. Upshifts are leisurely; the eight-speed keeps you right in the thick of the Touareg's broad torque curve. The suspension tuning follows a similar philosophy. It's far more comfortable than dynamic, soaking up all manner of bumps and general imperfections with aplomb. That said, the Touareg does not feel floaty or disconnected – just smooth. The greasy bits of the Touareg are very desirable, but the package they're wrapped in is less so. It's not that the interior or exterior designs are necessarily bad – fans of Earth tones will love our tester's Black Oak Brown Metallic paint and Cornsilk Beige interior – they're just kind of bland, or anonymous. The switchgear and buttons come from the Volkswagen parts bin, and while they're fine on a $20,000 Golf, these pieces aren't as appropriate in a vehicle that starts at more than twice the price. The dash plastics and faux wood don't look as nice as what's inside an Acura MDX, or even a Jeep Grand Cherokee. This mid-level Touareg TDI Lux starts at $57,580.

Volkswagen Golf GTE Sport Concept debuts at Worthersee

Thu, May 14 2015

Do you like hot Volkswagens? So do we. And that's why the annual Worthersee festival in Austria is a treat. It's where the Volkswagen Group shows off some performance-minded concept cars, like the GTI Clubsport or the 600-horsepower Audi TT. But VW wants to show that it's possible to increase performance while still maintaining some eco-friendly dignity. And that's where this striking Golf GTE Sport Concept comes in. The concept is powered by a three-motor plug-in hybrid system. There's a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four up front, with electric motors mounted at each axle. Total output is said to be 396 horsepower, which is enough to move the all-wheel-drive hatch to 62 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 174 mph. It can drive under full electric power, act as a traditional hybrid, or go into full "GTE" mode, where the engine and both motors are on full assault. Its styling is definitely forward-thinking, with angles and creases abound. But it still retains that signature Golf C-pillar design, with a two-tier adaptation first seen on the outrageous GTI W12-650 concept from 2007. The body is largely constructed from carbon fiber and has doors that swing forward and up (think BMW i8). Volkswagen says the Golf GTE Sport Concept "bridges the gap between road cars and racing sport cars." That's evident inside the car, too. There's a rakish dashboard with a three-tier instrument display setup, and a very aggressive cockpit design for the two-seat cabin. Five-point seatbelts on each chair and a racing-inspired steering wheel really drive home the performance mindset of this concept. There's a lot more to learn in the detailed press release below. Check it out, but not before scrolling through the image gallery above. This one's certainly a looker. World premiere of the Golf GTE Sport: Plug-in hybrid sports car catapults the GT idea to the future - Lightweight and high-strength body of the Golf GTE Sport is made of carbon - Concept car with a top speed of 280 km/h is a zero emission vehicle and a race car in one Five key facts about the Golf GTE Sport: 1.
