Clean on 2040-cars
Woodstock, Georgia, United States

Mk. V GTI for sale, I am the fifth owner. I love the car but It’s time for something newer.
This is a great used car in good condition. The ride is comfortable with a quality interior, one of the best at this price point. The steering, acceleration, and just general driving characteristics are all fantastic. What's even better is how much capability you get along with it. Despite being a two-door the back seats are still spacious and not too difficult to get into. You get a good amount of cargo space as well, even more with the backseats folded down, I was able to fit my mountain bike in it. Fuel economy is pretty great for a turbocharged engine as well, I usually get around 25-27mpg.
Mods: Nothing major, just an aftermarket intake and stereo head unit with Bluetooth.
I've had a lot of recent maintenance done:
Brand new tires, they're barely a month old
Fixed a vacuum leak and replaced the oil dipstick
Replaced the brake booster and brake booster hoses
Replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor
Replaced the oil separator pres. regulating valve
Replaced the crankcase vent valve gasket
Replaced the breather hose
The car is in good condition, especially for how many miles it's driven, however, there are a few (mostly cosmetic) issues with it:
Sunspots on the exterior
Scraped a curb while parking once and the front splitter came loose a little
The passenger seat adjuster is broken off, though luckily the seat is stuck in a good position so legroom for both the front seat and rear-seat passengers is still good.
Front left parking light is out (which causes a warning light). This light would only be on while the vehicle is stationary.
Mechanical:
The only mechanical issue I know of is that the engine thermostat needs to be replaced (this is causing the check engine light to be on). I have the part and was planning on doing it myself but it is a tedious repair and I simply don't have the time. The repair is doable yourself but it might be easiest to just take the part to a shop and have them do it.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.
Volkswagen CrossBlue previews a three-row future, diesel-hybrid power [w/video]
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Volkswagen looks to be getting ready to jump into the large three-row crossover game. The automaker has officially pulled back the curtain on the CrossBlue Concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
Designers and engineers penned the machine specifically for the Canadian and US markets, and with a plug-in diesel electric hybrid drivetrain, the hulking five-door, at least in concept form, should offer substantially better efficiency than anything else on the market. The drivetrain pairs a 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 305 horsepower and a ludicrous 516 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch gearbox handles shifting detail, while one electric motor spins the front wheels. The second motor spins the back axle independently, make the CrossBlue a through-the-road hybrid.
As a result, the crossover can pop to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Perhaps more impressively, the CrossBlue can whir around on all-electric propulsion for up to 14 miles at up to 75 mph. Once the diesel four kicks in, the drivetrain can yield up to 39 mpg, though Volkswagen says the hardware can hit 89 MPGe on a full charge thanks to a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Volkswagen Golf Variant Concept R-Line puts the sport in SportWagen
Wed, 06 Mar 2013With the introduction of the newest Volkswagen Golf Variant, we get an early look at what will most likely be the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here in the US. To further wet our appetities, VW is now teasing something a little sportier with the Concept R-Line. Looking the part of a GTI wagon (or a stretched Golf R), the Golf Variant Concept R-Line has a production-ready appearance that has us hoping we'll see this sporty wagon sooner rather than later.
The R-Line starts off with a new fascia that isn't quite as aggressive as the recently introduced GTI, but it gives the new styling some extra punch. Below the fascia is a lower splitter that visually carries back into the rocker panel extensions, and the rear of the car gets some bright exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. The Lapis Blue Metallic paint job probably does enough on its own to add a sporty flair to the Golf wagon, and it's all finished off with 18-inch split-spoke wheels. Inside, the Concept R-Line shows off sport seats wrapped in carbon leather featuring blue nappa inserts in the middle.
Rightfully so, VW brought the Concept R-Line to Geneva with its TDI and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. A sporty, all-wheel-drive diesel wagon? Yes, please. Scroll down for the full press blast with all the details.
