2003 Vw Eurovan Mpv Westfalia Weekender on 2040-cars

I purchased this van in October, 2013 from a private seller in Ogden, UT. The van has 206,500 miles on it and he replaced the engine in April, 2011 at approximately 160,000 miles with a brand new VW factory engine. I had the transmission and torque converter rebuilt by Aamco on 10/21/13 and it is under a one year transferable warranty. At that time I also had a new OEM heater core, thermostat and left outer tie rod end installed. In addition, it has 2,000 miles on new tires, a new windshield, starter, and ignition switch. The electronic control module was replaced and the speedometer cluster rebuilt. The van is in great shape and has no known mechanical flaws. There are 2 small dents on the right rear and the previous owner placed duct tape on the pop top canvas to reinforce wear spots. There is a small tear in one of the screens. The pop top functions well but it is the one item I would replace if I were to keep the van. Scratches and body wear are very minimal. It has the refrigerator under the driver's side rear facing seat which works well. It has a factory installed auxiliary battery and 750 watt converter. The curtains are all in excellent condition. It has an easily removable rear facing seat on the passenger side, the fold up table, and of course the rear bench folds down into a bed. It seats 7 passengers wtih seat belts for all.
I am selling this van because our plans have changed and we are moving overseas at the end of July. |

Volkswagen iBeetle gets integrated iPhone dock, little else
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Apple fans have been itching to see the tech giant flex the full muscle of its iOS operating system in an automotive infotainment system for years, which is why we turned all sorts of excited when we caught wind of the Volkswagen iBeetle. The machine is headed to the Shanghai Motor Show for a debut, and VW promised it would be one of the "first cars in the world to have a genuine integrative interface for the iPhone that was coordinated with Apple." Listen closely, and you can hear the contented sigh of a million wallets opening.
Go ahead and close those up, kids.
In reality, the iBeetle offers little more than a dash-mounted dock and a special app that shows a few vehicle functions, which is about as far from an infotainment revolution as you're likely to find. In fact, the setup is little more than a factory rehash of aftermarket items, and hardly worth a whole model debut at an international motor show. And that's to say nothing of the fact that Apple relishes in changing the shape and form of its darling handheld at every generation. Volkswagen better be prepared to keep pace with appropriate docking mechanisms for the upcoming iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, et al.
Yes, a family of 5 can live in a 1981 VW Westfalia van
Fri, Feb 14 2014Automakers and marketers trying to reach environmentally conscious consumers who desire the simple life basically have two strategies: promote electric vehicles that can be charged through green energy or sell a 30-year-old Volkswagen van on Craigslist. Nicolas Boullosa and Kirsten Dirksen opted for Plan B and turned a 1981 Volkswagen Westfalia camper into a "micro-living" experiment. The co-founders of the simple living website faircompanies packed up their van and three young children for a road trip through the Pacific Northwest. They even turned the adventure into a documentary called Summer of (Family) Love, which you can view below. It's two hours long, so maybe add this to your weekend viewing list. They limited themselves to one backpack per person into a camper that they purchased off Craigslist and named "Westy." They stuck to their original intention of cooking all their own meals off a propane stove, creating a new little home every night in a different location, mostly spaces outside RV parks. They met up with other enthusiasts of the "tiny house" community who live like nomads. They were able to interview a few of then and, "With each stop we picked up some new piece of wisdom about life's essentials," Dirksen wrote in the faircompanies blog.
