This Westy is in good shape with clear title and doesn't need much to hit the camp sites. Body is straight with newer paint that looks good. Was a Florida and North Carolina Westy. Engine has new seals and runs great with great power! Oil and transaxle fluid has been changed. The Weber carb conversion is a big upgrade, the old primitive fuel injection computers were notorious for quitting on you, the simpler the better basically. Carb could use a rebuild, I have to feather the gas when I drive it around the block, also gas pedal linkage could use some attention, it comes off the back of the pedal sometimes and seems loose. Has electric fuel pump with manual cutoff switch. 4-speed manual transmission has all the gears, linkage is squeaky and a little stiff but gets better each time I drive it. Clutch is good. Brakes work but pedal travel is low. Not sure about emergency brake. Brand new OEM ($400) tent for the pop up top comes with (see pic), current one has holes, and roof seals have been replaced, no water gets in. The appliances are all there and are clean, never tried to put propane or water in it, but was told they work, can't guarantee. Heater hoses are disconnected from heat exchangers and the controls are back in the dash like some one was about to remove them. Interior and dash is the original and not all torn and cracked but is a little worn and faded. Seats pivot properly. Window tint is getting old and faded and looks like someone started to remove it from the drivers window. Tires have been replaced and are very good quality. No stereo but has a cut-out for a modern one along with 6x9 speaker cut-outs under the rear bench and 5.25 cutouts in the doors. All glass is good. Battery is tired, it dies after a couple days of being charged, I usually put my truck battery in it if I'm driving it around my neighborhood or messing with it. I have most of the electric working
Please feel free to ask any questions you have. I have described this the best I can and have not owned this long but would be glad to go look at something specific for you and take a picture. If you would like to talk on the phone, send me a message and I'll send you my number. Vehicle sold as-is with no implied warranty, buyer is responsible for arranging shipping. This is basically an easy and even drivable project depending on how nice you want to make it. Body, Interior and engine are better than most Westy's you see!!!
I noticed on the last trip around the block that the odometer isn't working so mileage is unknown, I also noticed that the history report shows 166,000 in 1994, so I don't know if the odometer was reset after an engine install, or if the gauge cluster was replaced (most likely scenario) or if it stopped working a while ago and that was an estimate. Needless to say mileage is unknown.

VW confirms new TDI for second half of 2014 in Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle
Tue, 18 Mar 2014Diesel lovers rejoice. Volkswagen is bringing the latest iteration of its 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine - dubbed the EA288 - to the 2015 model year Golf, Jetta, Passat, Beetle (2013 model pictured above) and Beetle Convertible, and the cars will be on sale in the second half of 2014.
While it shares its moniker with the old diesel, the new engine produces 150 horsepower, a 10-hp boost, and 236 pound-feet of torque. VW promises improved fuel economy as well, but it hasn't announced specifically what amount yet. The company claims that despite the same displacement, only the bore spacing is shared with the previous version. The mill includes new features like exhaust gas recirculation, an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold and low-friction camshaft bearings.
VW Group of America has had great success with diesels in the US recently. Vee-Dub and Audi sold 105,899 diesel-equipped models in 2013. It was the first time the group ever sold over 100,000 diesels in a year, and they accounted for 24 percent of sales. Scroll down to read the full press release about the announcement.
Volkswagen Tiguan tunes up for Frankfurt show
Fri, Jun 12 2015Volkswagen is in the phase of testing where it's simply beating the crap out of the next-generation Tiguan. The German manufacturer is conducting high-altitude towing tests in the Alps of mules wearing the production-ready body of its second-gen compact CUV. This is the first time we've seen the Tiguan in its production body, and despite the ample camouflage, the resemblance to not only the Passat sedan, but the Cross Coupe GTE and CrossBlue concepts, is clear. That's particularly true based on what we can see of the new Tiguan's grille and headlight treatment. In back, the Tiguan will adopt a more sporting roofline, particularly in the aggressive rake of the D-pillar. It's significantly different than the current car, and frankly, that's no bad thing. Expect the usual array of gas and diesel four cylinders with both front- and all-wheel drive on offer. On the high end, meanwhile, our spies claim a 300-horsepower R model could eventually be added to the range. Aside from its new look, future variants could see the crossover spawn both a long-wheelbase version and a coupe-like model. That said, we're wondering how a long-wheelbase Tiguan would fit into the VW range alongside the long-rumored, American-built, three-rower. According to our spies, though, neither one of those vehicles would arrive until well after the vehicle shown above debuts. As for when we can expect to see the second-gen Tiguan, our spies point to September's Frankfurt Motor Show. Be sure to check back then.
VW's Winterkorn to stick around through at least 2018
Thu, Sep 3 2015Volkswagen may yet to have found a new chairman, but it's not about to get rid of its chief executive any time soon. The German automaker has announced its intention to renew Martin Winterkorn's contract through the end of 2018. That is, assuming that the Supervisory Board heeds the recommendation of its own Executive Committee when the full 20-member board meets on September 25. 68-year-old Winterkorn joined the Volkswagen Group back in 1993 after a decade and a half at Bosch. He was named head of Audi in 2002, and chairman of the Board of Management (effectively the chief executive officer) of the entire Volkswagen Group in 2007. Just a few months ago he faced off against Ferdinand Piech – chairman of the company's supervisory board and grandson of Ferdinand Porsche – that resulted in Winterkorn's victory and Piech's resignation. The executive committee's endorsement, then, is effectively a vote of confidence in Winterkorn's leadership. It still leaves unresolved the question of who will ultimately take over as chairman to succeed Piech. Winterkorn was touted for a potential promotion, but if the supervisory board renews his contract – currently set to expire next year – he'll be staying right where he is and a new chairman will need to be found. The chair is currently filled on an interim basis by Berthold Huber, former head of the union that was instrumental in Piech's ousting. Wolfsburg, 02 September 2015 Resolution of the Executive Committee of the Volkswagen AG Supervisory Board The Executive Committee of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG unanimously agreed a resolution for submission to the Supervisory Board at its meeting on September 25, 2015 under which a new contract as Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG for a term until December 31, 2018 should be concluded with Professor Dr. Martin Winterkorn. "Together with Professor Martin Winterkorn at the helm we will continue on our successful path of recent years and systematically implement the goals of Strategy 2018", Berthold Huber, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, said.
