1976 Volkswagen Bus - Transporter - Type 2. Seven Passenger.
4 Cylinder 2.0L Air Cooled Fuel Injected Engine. 4 Speed Manual Transmission. Being sold AS-IS. I purchased this bus with the motor already taken out because the previous owner had dropped a valve while driving. The motor needs a new head and piston on the left side. Head has been removed from engine so you can see the piston damage. Rest of engine is intact and is in passenger compartment of bus. Replace head and piston and reinstall motor.. All other original parts to put back together are in bus. I had bought to fix and enjoy but it has only sat in my yard since . No time. Interior is dirty and does have some mold from sitting for a year. Interior needs a cleaning and there is some headliner rips. Body is not too bad. Bottom of side rockers need repair, drivers front has a rust spot, drivers door has a crease, rear valance under engine compartment door needs repair and drivers side after rear tire needs repair. Also passenger side spot bubbling thru after rear wheel. Front tires are new and rear tires have 40% tread left. Underneath is clean and wheel wells are clean. I do not know how the brakes or clutch are. I also do not know if everything works ( lights, horn, radio ).The ignition key seems to be stuck and will not turn. It worked last summer when I unloaded bus from flatbed. It mite have some corrosion inside from sitting. I am going to try to free up. The previous owner did say when I bought it he did have the heating system repaired to working order. If any questions I hope to be able to answer them. It does have original owners manual and also comes with Haynes repair manual, How to keep your VW alive by John Muir, How to rebuild your air cooled engine and a HotVW magazine special issue on VW engines. No international buyers. The bus will need to be flatbed towed or on a trailer . Thanks for looking.

VW could fight Uber Black with Porsche and Audi vehicles
Fri, Jun 3 2016Last week, the Volkswagen group dumped $300 million into Gett, a taxi hailing-cum-ride sharing app that's big outside of the US. Now, the company has revealed that it's pondering a rival to Uber Black by offering private drivers access to its higher-end vehicles. Details are scarce since it's a single line reference in a very long press release, but VW says that it's looking at a "special chauffeur service" that features "premium brands, such as Audi and Porsche." What that looks like in reality is anyone's guess, although the idea of getting ferried around in an Audi RS 7 does have some appeal. The deal with Gett will concentrate on getting Volkswagen cars into the hands of Gett's drivers with the promise of juicy discounts. For instance, the firm will offer a special package that'll bundle car insurance and servicing with the purchase price, which can be paid by a would-be operator in installments. It's a similar deal to the one that Uber offers would-be drivers, letting them buy cars from manufacturers like Volkswagen, Ford and Toyota at a discount. Uber, however, also lets prospective cabbies rent their vehicle on a monthly basis, thanks to a deal with Enterprise. Both of which will likely become more muscular now that Uber has a further $3.5 billion in its back pocket. The troubling fact for the auto industry is that people will still need cars, but it's likely that they won't need as many as they do right now. On-demand services and self-driving vehicles are, after all, intended to shuttle around cities like an ersatz taxi-cum-metro system rather than sitting in parking lots. The concepts of ownership that we currently hold dear (and the profits that car companies get from them) are likely to fade away in the next, say, fifty years time. As such, conglomerates like VW will have to reinvent themselves as both manufacturer and transport company in one. But these changes are never easy, especially when the biggest car firms have tons of baggage that slows down their progress. Many are still devoting time and resources to producing thousands of new cars with combustion engines that will be on the roads for years to come. Looming in the shadow, however, is the emissions scandal, with the financial and reputational penalties likely to be felt for years to come. Younger, more nimble rivals without legacy businesses, like Tesla, are working on mass-producing electric cars for mass-market prices.
Volkswagen Group's Vision 2030 strategy could bring revolution to the brands
Sat, May 11 2019One would expect a corporate plan called "Vision 2030," looking 11 years ahead through wildly tumultuous times, to involve great change and numerous forks in numerous roads. According to Automobile's breakdown of Volkswagen's path forward, though, the plans contain some lurid potential surprises. The ultimate aim is return on investment, and that means ruthless reorganization of a conglomerate with eight primary car brands, two car sub-brands, and Ducati motorcycles. The first two Vision 2030 cornerstones Automobile mentions are near boilerplate: Production network restructuring, and "streamlining of key technologies." The latter two are the ones that could upend what we know as the Volkswagen Group: focusing on the Group's core brands — meaning Audi, Porsche, and VW — and transitioning to EVs, autonomy, and other mobility solutions. Based on the report, a quote from Audi's CTO referring to the Audi brand could cover how the Group plans to handle all of its brands: "We need to find a sustainable solution for the indefinite transition period until EVs eventually take over." The boutique divisions adjacent to carmaking, Ducati and Italdesign, look likely to be spun off. For the halo car brands — Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini — apparently shareholders want double-digit returns on investment, and the trio doesn't have long to hit the target. One eyebrow raiser is when the report states, "Bugatti is tipped to be gifted to [ex-VW Group Chairman] Ferdinand Piech." Piech fathered the Veyron during his tenure at VW, and it was thought he commissioned the La Voiture Noire, but he's lately stepped so far back from VW that he sold all his shares in the Group. Automobile quoted a senior strategist as saying of money-losing Bentley, "Why invest on a backward-looking enterprise when you can support a trendsetter? A proud history and excellent craftmanship alone don't cut it anymore." We guess no one at Ferrari, McLaren, or even Porsche got that memo. Bentley is reportedly close to being put in time out, and if brand CEO Adrian Hallmark can't right the Crewe ship, the hush-hush Plan B is to prop the Flying B up enough to lure a buyer. As for Lamborghini, caught between two masters at Audi and Porsche, even record-breaking numbers at the Italian supercar maker barely staved off sacrilege. It's said that VW brand CEO Herbert Diess considered putting a 5.0-liter Porsche V8 into the Aventador successor.
Volkswagen bringing new Tiguan to Frankfurt
Sun, Sep 6 2015As expected, Volkswagen will introduce the new Tiguan crossover at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. While the brand hasn't quite gotten on the endless teaser train, VW's German Facebook page has released a simple shot of the new crossover covered up on the Wolfsburg factory line. We're not able to learn much from the single image released by VW Deutschland, as the sheet being used hides virtually all the body's details. The caption for the image is no help either, simply saying that the first Tiguan for Frankfurt has rolled off the Wolfsburg line. So yeah, that's about it. But while this image isn't terribly informative, we already know quite a bit about the new Tiguan. Its looks will likely be inspired by the Cross Coupe GTE and CrossBlue Concepts, while additional body styles could be offered later in the CUV's life. For performance fans, there will likely be a 300-horsepower R model, in addition to the standard array of gas and diesel engines. Check out the image from VW Germany's Facebook page, and then be sure to head back in a few weeks for the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
