1969 vw bus.

USA originally sold in Los Angeles
type 2 transporter baywindow microbus
7 passenger walk thru
It has a strong type 1 dual carb, dual glass pack exhaust that purrs
well maintained with fresh oil turnkey ready to go, runs drives and stops good.
Breaks were just bled and filled with new fluid
It has been a pleasure cruiser for me that you could use as a daily driver.
Being an original west coast bus it is mostly dry...has had some small rust issues that come with almost any 40+year old bus.  Nothing you could put your foot thru on the sheet metal, frame and underchasis is solid minimal rust
Sitting on brandnew rubber, 2.5" white walls with new beauty rings and moon caps.
New headliner so ALL window seals except rear hatch been replaced. New windshield installed too.
front door seals are brand new and in fact the doors have to be shut harder than previously because they arent even broken in yet.
I bought replacement shocks, but the ones on are solid and didnt need replacement
motor mounts are good

What you might call the bad or expected:
could use ball joints replaced if desired
I broke the antenna when covering the bus from a storm so no amfm
driver seat bottom has tear
rear seat not mounted, I take it out most of the time
small ding in the driver rear corner behind the bumper, was there previously not sure why but in my opinion is minor so I never spent the money to fix it.
key was jb welded into the ignition, I have the replacement to change it out.

She runs great...turns heads and 99% of the drivers out there give respect on the road while driving.
I can help with international shipping, nearest port is New Jersey, maybe Norfolk VA??
Please only bid if planning to buy. I have been honest in my description and only hope to have a smooth sale with a happy new bus owner. Raleigh is the nearest airport, I can pick you up if needed.

I have received a few requests for my reserve price, also if I will accept any offers to end the bidding, and my answer is respectfully, no. This bus will sell here and I will ride out the length of the auction. It will not get taken down early...thank you for your interest.  I have removed my local listing and am selling thru ebay so I dont have to do the test drive, tire kicker, "I have half now and the rest in payments?" kind of scenario...I do not have the time with my current schedule to deal with this, thank you for your understanding.

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.

Former chairman Piech opposing his nieces' VW board nominations

Fri, May 1 2015

Someone needs to option the rights to the Ferdinand Piech story for an HBO series, because it perfectly mixes the corporate intrigue of Mad Men with the family drama of The Sopranos. Plus there are some cool cars. In the latest episode, Piech isn't happy with Volkswagen's appointment of two of his nieces – Julia Kuhn-Piech and Dr. Louise Kiesling – to replace he and his wife on the automaker's supervisory board. The recently ousted chairman could try to stop them. According to German publication Bild, Piech thinks his two relatives lack the necessary automotive experience to serve on the board. Therefore, he suggests one-time Ford Premier Automotive Group boss Wolfgang Reitzle and former Siemens manager Brigitte Ederer to take the seats. However, a VW spokesperson told Automotive News Europe that there were no objections to the women's appointment, except for this story from Germany. Piech's nieces are already officially appointed to the VW supervisory board, and it's approved by the Braunschweig Local Court in Germany. His only real option to challenge them would be to file a lawsuit, according to Automotive News Europe. While the new appointees don't have their uncle's decades of history in the auto industry, they do have business experience. Dr. Kiesling has a degree in vehicle design from the Royal College of Art in London and is the managing director of an Austrian textile maker. Kuhn-Piech works in real estate sits on the supervisory board of German truck maker Man.

German authorities claim 2.8 million VW diesels evaded testing

Fri, Sep 25 2015

While Volkswagen admits that there are 11 million diesel vehicles around the world that may be able to evade emissions testing, investigations by government authorities are starting to provide a glimpse of where some of those actually are. According to German Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt, there are 2.8 million VWs in the country with the tech to cheat environmental rules, Reuters reports. In the US, at least 482,000 cars are believed to be affected. German regulators claim not knowing about the automaker's emissions testing evasions until quite recently, and Dobrindt didn't begin a fact-finding mission into the situation until just this week. Environmental agencies around the world have also begun their own inquiries into the scandal, including in Canada, South Korea, and many countries in Europe. In the US, where the story originally broke, the Department of Justice has started a criminal investigation into VW, and a maximum fine from the Environmental Protection Agency could tally $18 billion. The automaker has responded so far by setting aside about $7.3 billion to fix the affected models. CEO Martin Winterkorn is also already gone, and Porsche boss Matthias Muller is taking the top spot. The company's next moves still aren't clear, though. "VW needs to be very open about what has happened, how it was possible that this could happen to make sure that this never happens again in the future," an anonymous, top shareholder in the company said to Reuters.
