Brookings, Oregon, United States
FOR SALE IS THIS 1968 VW BUS WITH LOTS OF MILES.....YOU MAY HAVE SEEN US AT VARIOUS NORTHERN CALIFORNIA VW SHOWS OR THE OREGON COUNTRY FAIR.... WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET...THIS BUS HAS BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT TEN YEARS, IT RAN WHEN IT WAS PARKED, THE MOTOR STILL TURNS OVER WHEN YOU USE A WRENCH ON THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY. THE MOTOR HAS ABOUT 60,000 MILES ON IT AND THE LAST REBUILD WAS WITH 88mm SLIP IN PISTONS FROM NIPPON PISTON RING COMPANY. I DON'T REMEMBER WHERE THE HEADS WERE PURCHASED BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GERMAN PARTS THAT I HAD. THERE MIGHT STILL BE A FEW MILES LEFT IN THE MOTOR BEFORE A REBUILD IS NECESSARY. THE ENGINE CASE IS A VW UNIVERSAL REPLACEMENT CASE THAT HAS NO NUMBERS STAMPED ON IT WE PARKED IT WHEN MY MOTHER IN LAW CAME TO LIVE WITH US AND WE HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW SUV THAT SHE COULD GET IN AND OUT OF AND NO ONE WANTED TO DRIVE THIS OLD GIRL ANYMORE THE FRONT SEATS CAME FROM A VOLVO. NO SEAT BELTS. TIRES ARE LIKE NEW. LOTS OF LITTLE GOODIES ARE ON THIS RIG AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES. I HAVE RECENTLY SEEN BELTLINE TRIM SETS IN MUCH WORSE CONDITION THAN THIS GO FOR $200 +. THE WINDOWS(AIR CONDITIONERS) ROLL UP AND DOWN ALTHOUGH THE REGULATORS ARE STIFF FROM SITTING FOR 10 YEARS---THEY SHOULD BE CLEANED AND LUBED....THE SLIDING DOOR RUNS SMOOTHLY AND LATCHES WELL. TWO DIFFERENT KEYS ARE NEEDED TO LOCK HER UP SECURELY DUE TO REPLACING DIFFERENT LOCKS/HANDLES DURING THE YEARS THAT WE DROVE HER, I DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL LOCK RIGHT NOW WITHOUT A BIT OF CLEANING/LUBE THE BODY HAS SOME MAJOR RUST ISSUES WHICH I HAVE TRIED TO SHOW WELL IN THE PICTURES I AM SURE YOU WILL WANT TO GO THROUGH THE BRAKES ETC. BEFORE DRIVING THIS, BUT IT DOES ROLL I WELCOME INTERNATIONAL BUYERS BUT REQUEST THAT YOU CONTACT ME WITH THE NAME AND PHONE NUMBER OF YOUR SHIPPING AGENT BEFORE BIDDING. IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN AGENT, I CAN RECOMMEND ONE THAT I HAVE WORKED WITH PREVIOUSLY. VW recognizes second union at Chattanooga plant
Wed, Feb 18 2015The ongoing story of organizing workers at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. Following an independent audit, the automaker has now recognized a second union at the plant called the American Council of Employees. The group was founded there last year to offer an alternative to the United Auto Workers. "I'm not anti-union. I understand that a properly run union can benefit people. We will be that union," Sean Moss, president of the ACE, said to Reuters, according to Automotive News. The group claims to represent at least 15 percent of the workers at the plant. Acceptance of the ACE has led to an interesting situation in Chattanooga because VW also recognized the UAW at the factory in December 2014, and the group has claimed to represent at least 45 percent of workers there. According to Automotive News, each union has access to management, but the UAW has more because of its larger contingent of supporters. However, neither organization has a collective bargaining agreement with the automaker. Moss may have a rough time increasing support among employees at the factory. According to Automotive News, many anti-UAW workers there are completely against unions in general. Getting these folks to join his group isn't an easy task. The UAW has been working to fully represent the VW factory for years. However, the group lost a vote to do so in 2014. It eventually created a union local there to try to build support. All of the effort comes ahead of a $900 million plant expansion to add about 2,000 jobs and build a new crossover in Tennessee. Former chairman Piech opposing his nieces' VW board nominations
Fri, May 1 2015Someone needs to option the rights to the Ferdinand Piech story for an HBO series, because it perfectly mixes the corporate intrigue of Mad Men with the family drama of The Sopranos. Plus there are some cool cars. In the latest episode, Piech isn't happy with Volkswagen's appointment of two of his nieces – Julia Kuhn-Piech and Dr. Louise Kiesling – to replace he and his wife on the automaker's supervisory board. The recently ousted chairman could try to stop them. According to German publication Bild, Piech thinks his two relatives lack the necessary automotive experience to serve on the board. Therefore, he suggests one-time Ford Premier Automotive Group boss Wolfgang Reitzle and former Siemens manager Brigitte Ederer to take the seats. However, a VW spokesperson told Automotive News Europe that there were no objections to the women's appointment, except for this story from Germany. Piech's nieces are already officially appointed to the VW supervisory board, and it's approved by the Braunschweig Local Court in Germany. His only real option to challenge them would be to file a lawsuit, according to Automotive News Europe. While the new appointees don't have their uncle's decades of history in the auto industry, they do have business experience. Dr. Kiesling has a degree in vehicle design from the Royal College of Art in London and is the managing director of an Austrian textile maker. Kuhn-Piech works in real estate sits on the supervisory board of German truck maker Man.
Volkswagen Golf R wagon promises to be fast and functional [w/poll]
Tue, 25 Mar 2014Volkswagen's array of performance-oriented Golfs keeps getting bigger and bigger. What started with the GTI has since grown to include the diesel GTD, the hybrid GTE and the most powerful Golf R. But the additions haven't all come down to powertain. There's been cabrio versions of the GTI and Golf R as well, but before all is said and done, there will be one more bodystyle to join the lineup.
That, according to these latest spy shots, would be the Golf R Variant. For those unfamiliar, Variant is what Volkswagen calls the wagon version of the Golf (in some markets, anyway). It offers the Golf Variant with a variety of engines, but as the spy shots reveal, it is now working on bringing the Golf Variant and the Golf R together into one high-powered, long-roofed model.
The VW Golf R Variant would in all likelihood pack the same 2.0-liter turbo four as the hatchback, splitting 290 horsepower between all four wheels. Only in the wagon, it would offer that extra bit of utility. Of course there's no guarantee that Volkswagen would offer the Golf R Variant in the North American market, but considering that the Golf R hatchback will soon be joined in American showrooms by the Golf SpotWagen (as it's tipped to be called here) in place for the Jetta wagon, the possibility is definitely there.
