Here’s my NICE 1964 Deluxe 21 window Safari Microbus offered

1964 Deluxe 21 Window Ragtop California Black Plate Microbus with SAFARI WINDOWS. This Samba was restored 17 years ago, driven less than 5,000 miles, then stored away in the garage hence the low miles since the restoration. The body is very straight and presentable. This 21 window has more cool factor than any other vehicle on the road. It will create more memories and smiles than ever. This was the first year Volkswagen offered the Deluxe 21 window microbus. If you search around, there are very few 1964 Deluxe 21 windows on the planet remaining today.

It left the factory wearing its most desirable L360 Turkis paint and when it was restored, it was repainted its original L360 Turkis and looks gorgeous. Though it’s not perfect, it still looks great for having been restored 17 years ago. It has safari windows which are great for those hot summer days. It was ordered with 6 popout windows which is a MUST option to have on a 21 window. The interior was tastefully done at the time of restoration as well. The headliner will need some help and that’s it. It still retains all its correct seats including the rare middle seat. It has custom 2 tone interior panels throughout which really compliment the theme of the bus. You will get compliments all the time so please be prepared to talk to everyone that encounters it! This Deluxe 21 window is ROCK SOLID throughout. The undercarriage is SOLID and detailed to the MAX. Its not a perfect show bus, but a nice clean driver that will make the new owners very happy.

Under the decklid it sports a FRESH 1600cc dual port with only 5,000 miles on the engine and transmission. It runs and drives great and just had a complete servicing. The engine was built with reliability. It has a 68 Bug transmission while still retaining the original shifter. It just had ALL new brakes and brake lines from front to rear. It has a custom hideaway exhaust system that sounds great. It was built to cruz down the roads while keeping up with today’s traffic in STYLE. She has been tastefully lowered with an adjustable beam and straight axle kit in the rear. It rides great while maintaining a INCREDIBLE stance that makes you wanna lock up the minute you set your eyes onto it. It’s riding on 15” polished Empi 5 spoke wheels wrapped in new 195/50/15’s. All numbers match proving its authenticity.

Volkswagen Scirocco GTS set for Shanghai reveal

Fri, Apr 17 2015

Though we still can't get one over here, buyers in other markets can get the Scirocco in an array of trim levels. And at the Shanghai Motor Show this month, Volkswagen is introducing another. The new Scirocco GTS slots between the base models and the R performance version. Reviving the spirit of the original introduced more than 30 years ago and picking up where the last model left off, the new GTS splits the Scirocco lineup the way the GTI fits into the Golf range. It even packs the GTI's engine: a 2.0-liter turbo four with 210 hp, mated to either a six-speed manual or DSG. The GTS also packs standard 18-inch (or optional 19-inch wheels), a further departure from the R-Line aero kit and racing stripes running up the top. The interior is similarly upgraded with special trim, a golf-ball shifter (on manual versions) and more. All of this makes the Scirocco an even more tempting proposition – if only we could get our hands on one. Wolfsburg/Shanghai, 16 April 2015 Comeback of a GT icon: World premiere of the 220 PS Scirocco GTS in Shanghai - Exclusive GTS trim with new 18-inch alloy wheels - Scirocco GTS* has a new generation of infotainment equipment on board as standard Ten key facts about the Scirocco GTS*: 1. The new Scirocco GTS makes its debut as a separate and especially sporty GT version 2. 220 PS Scirocco GTS has a top speed of 246 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds 3. Individualised exterior with new 18-inch alloy wheels and optional GTS decor (decor standard in China) 4. Red brake callipers as an identifying feature 5. Exclusive GTS interior with black trim features, red stitching and the legendary golf ball gear knob 6. Included as standard: the "Composition Colour", from the latest generation of infotainment systems 7. Modular infotainment matrix (MIB II) available for all Scirocco models from the end of May 8. The Scirocco GTS can also be ordered with an extremely quick-shifting 6-speed DSG gearbox as an option 9. The spirit of the first Scirocco GTS (which made its debut in 1982) was carried forward into the year 2015 in the new GTS 10. With over a million sold, the Scirocco is one of the most successful sports cars in the world Some cars live for ever because they are constantly reinvented. The Scirocco, a pure-bred European sports car, is one of these cars that is forever young. Presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 41 years ago, it became an icon of compact German coupes.

Meet ZelectricBug, the amazing '63 VW Bug converted to EV power

Thu, Feb 27 2014

No word a lie, we here at AutoblogGreen are fans of classic cars. What we are not fond of, however, is the pollution that their inefficient engines create, and so it's great to see our old favorites lovingly up-cycled with electric drivetrains. The ZelectricBug is a beautiful example of how new, cleaner life can be breathed into an old Volkswagen Beetle. Now, we first came across this particular automobile during the Refuel event last summer and we were struck by its cleanly done conversion then. Aside from a few snaps in our gallery, though, we didn't give it the kind of attention it deserves. Fortunately, the good folks over at Roads and Rides have rectified this by turning their pro video camera skills onto the 1963 V-Dub and producing a nice little segment to accompany their write up. Scroll below to see the finished footage and head over to their website for some stills. If all this gives you a hankering for your own Zelectric, the company does have plans to sell to the public starting this summer. If you don't want to wait, EV West, the guys who did the drivetrain work on this car, have conversion kits available for Beetles, as well as a number of other vehicles. In wake of Volkswagen scandal, cheating may actually get easier

Thu, Sep 24 2015

The three crises that rollicked the auto industry in recent months – a rising death toll related to the General Motors ignition-switch defect, the Jeep Cherokee hack and now the Volkswagen cheating scandal – all have one thing in common. Outsiders discovered the problems. In the new matter of Volkswagen rigging millions of cars to outsmart emissions tests, researchers at West Virginia University and the International Council on Clean Transportation first spotted irregularities. In the hacking of a Jeep Cherokee, it was independent cyber-security researchers Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller who found and reported cellular vulnerabilities that allowed them to control a car from halfway across the country. And lest we forget in the case of General Motors, it was a Mississippi mechanic and Florida engineer who first made connections between non-deploying airbags and faulty GM ignition switches that had been altered over time. They worked on behalf of Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old Georgia woman killed in a Chevy Cobalt. "That argument is built on a whole string of trusts, and now it is clear that we should absolutely not be trusting." - Kyle Wiens Amid the Volkswagen scandal, the role these independent third parties played in unearthing life-threatening problems is important to highlight, not only because it shines a light on the ethical indifference corporations paid to life-and-death problems of their creation. The role of the independents is noteworthy because, just as their contributions never been more relevant in protecting the driving public, they could soon be barred from the automotive landscape. Since May, a little-known but critically important process has been playing out before an office within the Library of Congress, which will soon decide whether independent researchers and mechanics can continue to access vehicle software or whether that software, which runs dozens of vehicle components, is protected by copyright law. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act criminalizes measures taken to circumvent security devices that protect copyrighted works. When the DMCA was signed into law in 1998, it was intended to protect the likes of movies from being pirated and companies from ripping off software. At the time, few had a clue that some 17 years later cars would essentially be mobile software platforms run by millions of lines of code that potentially fall under the law's jurisdiction.
