You are bidding on a beautifully restored 1964 11 window walk thru standard Volkswagen Bus. The bus has been painted Turkis and Blau white and has stainless Wolfgang safaris and six (6) factory side pop out windows.  This bus is extremely solid and RUST FREE. Originally from Las Vegas, NV with no rust repair needed!  Floors, chassis, outriggers, jack points, doglegs, etc all solid and original and rust free.  Everything on the underside of bus has been left in its original rust free condition, including paint color. The exterior has been painted its original colors of Turkis and Blau White two-stage paint, ppg nason base.  The interior is painted Turkis rather than white. The original paint is retained on the ashtray, and radio block off plate.  The bumpers are German originals that have been sand blasted, epoxy primed, and painted in the correct color of Silver white. The rear bumper has new brackets, new over riders, and towel bars.

There are new Wolfgang stainless safaris window kit up front, 6 factory side pop out windows with original frames which have been powder coated and painted to match. All original side glass, front cab glass, and rear hatch glass. All new rubber seals on windows, doors, bump stops, etc.

A complete new wiring harness from Wiring Works and a new 12 volt battery have been installed. The original rare trip odometer was refurbished and reinstalled; both mirror arms are original to the bus, as is all the glass, door frames, doors, etc.  There are new bulbs throughout, new headlight assemblies, new turn signal lenses, tail lenses, etc.

The interior is superb and is complete with new headliner, new VW door panel kit in Como green, hand stitched seat stand wraps, and new seat covers on all seven (7) seats. The front and rear seats are original split window seats and the middle seat is from a later bus.  There are new rubber cargo mats front and rear, new seat stand covers under the front seats, new pedal pads, and a new turn signal switch. The overhead vent assembly was disassembled and refurbished with new seals, etc.  The hinge covers in the rear are new as well as new side, upper and lower panels in the luggage area.  Also, a new steering wheel, horn button, and dash grab handle, etc. have been installed.

Mechanically, this bus has been gone through and upgraded for performance and handling with lowering kit and 1915 dual carb motor. Yes, it has been lowered and it is fast!  Handles awesome! There is a CB performance 2 inch narrowed beam up front with all new brake wheel cylinders, hoses, master cylinder, etc. All new tie rods, steering dampener, drag link, shocks, etc.  New lower profile tires. The rear suspension lowered with the best: A Butcher shop straight axle kit with clearance spring plates and type one transmission. No more reduction boxes to slow you down.

The engine is a professionally assembled 1915 cc motor on a brand new case, with counterweighted crank, and all new bearings, cam, lifters, cranks, pistons, cylinders, oil pump, etc. The compression is set conservatively to run cool in this bus. There are big dual Italian Dellorto 40’s to make it scoot down the road. A custom external oil cooler mounts to the bumper bracket. The breather kit is mounted behind shroud, a serpentine belt pulley system installed, roller bearing accelerator tube mount, and powder coated engine tins. The engine compartment is fully painted in single stage Turkis paint with new seals, etc.

Overall a fantastic 1964 VW Bus which runs, drives, and looks great! A bus in this extremely rust free and mechanically sound condition is getting hard to find. Here is your chance to be the proud owner of this classic Bus.

VW Super Bowl teaser with Jimmy Cliff is like a less-mean Tosh.0 Web Redemption

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Reggae super-duper-star and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jimmy Cliff has been using music to send positive vibes out into the universe for decades now, so its no surprise that his message on behalf of Volkswagen is one of redemption.
Dubbed Sunny Side, this web-spot is VW's warmup of sorts for what promises to be another blockbuster year in the world of Super Bowl commercials. Without giving away the game, the euphonious commercial sees Cliff opening his arms and his heart to some YouTube 'celebrities' that might see courser treatment from the likes of Tosh.0, for instance. We can't help but be reminded of Coca-Cola's legendary 1971 Hilltop spot with the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" lyric, too.
Enjoy the pre-Super Bowl VW spot below, and don't forget to pay it forward... your karma will thank you. For those of you that just can't get enough of commercial-making magic, we've included a "making-of" video, as well.

Get ready to Camino-ize your fourth-generation VW Jetta with this kit

Tue, 05 Aug 2014

Inexpensive, small pickup trucks used to be everywhere in the US, whether they were from Japanese brands like Datsun or Toyota, the truly weird Subaru Brat or even from Europe with the Volkswagen Caddy based on the Golf. These days that market has completely disappeared, but if you're willing to pick up some tools to build your own, there's a company out there bringing the Caddy back as a kit for the Jetta.
Mark Smith knows a thing about building a vehicle at home. He has over two decades in the DIY-car business as a co-founder of Local Motors and the company that became Factory Five Racing. His latest venture is Smyth Performance and already offers a mid-engine, VW-based kit called the G3F. His new product, though, started as a fluke. "I just wanted a shop truck," said Smith to Autoblog. He already had a Ford F-450 but found that he was driving around with the bed empty most of the time. The result was a pickup truck based on the fourth-generation Jetta that he dubbed the Ute.
The kit retails for $3,500 and ships in three, big boxes, and it's designed to be built and painted in a weekend. Buyers get fiberglass exterior panels, a fiberglass rear window surround, sliding rear window, an aluminum reinforced bed with a tubular steel subframe, taillights, a fully functional steel tailgate, and other parts. In the end, you get a vehicle with a six-foot bed and a payload of around 700-750 pounds. The Ute maintains all of the factory suspension, fuel tank and emissions equipment and requires just a few cuts in the body to complete. "We did a modern Caddy," admits Smith.
