 Hiya Volks Folks.
For your consideration we have this 1962 cabriolet.
It's dressed to look like a 1958.
It's on a 1966 pan, & is registered as such.

- Front disks ( your standard Ghia swap )
- New tires
- Recent front end rebuild ( ball joint boots dried out already though )
- Select-a-drop
- Stainless braided brake lines.
- New master cylinder.
- Powder coated wheels
- Good running 1600 single port
- The body is very solid
- Top frame is pretty complete with great glass ( only missing latches )
- New windshield, rubber & trim
- Correct convertible rear seat & low back front seats included
- It's very close to daily driver status now.
- It runs & drives, but I wouldn't trust it at highway speeds just yet.
- A lot more new parts ! receipts included.

** The car is pretty solid, but does have small holes in the passenger side pan.
I'd replace the lower body rails too, but they are solid enough to drive on.
The package tray has already been replaced
If you want to paint it, it'll need some body work. I think it looks cool as is though.
It's missing the side glass & window regulators.
The wiring has been chewed on by someone who didn't know what they were doing....I'm working on it.
Of course, it needs all the soft goodies, but you know how cheap that stuff is.

I picked this up for a summer driver & thought about selling it in the fall.
Let's face it, that's not the time to sell a convertible.
I'll be working on it daily & updating as needed.
It's being offered at no reserve.
If bidding doesn't reach a respectable level, I'll pull the listing & keep building it.
Get your bids in early.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have & more pictures will be added upon request.

On May-05-14 at 19:40:46 PDT, seller added the following information:

I understand.....everyone wants to know what kind of value I put on the car. Since you're looking at the listing, you already know what it's worth.
If it gets close to what I have invested ( not including labor ) by Sunday, the auction will run to completion.
I really don't mind finishing the car & making all the profit.
You know it's "vert season" & this one turns heads. I'd be a fool to sell it in fall & next summer is ... well, next summer.

Good luck to all bidders & thanks for looking.

On May-07-14 at 04:30:04 PDT, seller added the following information:

Added a few more pictures, thus maxing out what eBay will allow.

I think I can attach more pictures to question replies, so if you request pictures & also want to send a phone number, use separate messages ( so I'm not posting your phone number to the public ) *** as you can see, the lower rails are pretty solid, I just planned on replacing them next winter so people aren't worried about a couple tiny holes.

From the way things look today, I should be able to get a full speed road test in this week, I'm just waiting on a couple parts.

On May-09-14 at 04:07:27 PDT, seller added the following information:

Ok, so I guess I CAN'T post public replies with pictures....the "post as public" check box gets blocked out when I add pictures. eBay should fix that

Anyway, I'm throwing time & money at this car as as if I were going to keep it. I'm still waiting on an beam seal from AppleTree so I can do an alignment, it should be here today. The wiring is coming along very well, professionally done of course. ( soldered & shrink wrapped where needed....also picked up a later model front harness ) I'm looking to give her a good shakedown tomorrow night.

Bidding is ... well, not exactly where I feel comfortable just yet. ( pretty close though ) I'm a betting man, so if we get a little closer, I'll let it run.

I'm working on a lot of stuff you wont notice, unless I didn't do it. I'll continue building it as if it'll be my driver & still haven't decided if I'll relist this year. I'll probably be having too much fun with it to do so.

2019 VW Jetta vs. 2019 Honda Civic vs. 2019 Kia Forte: How they compare

Tue, Jan 16 2018

The 2018 Detroit Auto Show was dominated by trucks, but there were also two all-new and completely redesigned compact sedans introduced: the 2019 VW Jetta and the 2019 Kia Forte. Follow their respective links to read our first driving impressions of each, but in short, both compacts are better positioned to steal potential customers away from the segment-leading 2019 Honda Civic, which itself was updated for 2019. Besides taking a look their specs and photos, I had the chance to go between them all here in Detroit, crawl around their interiors, sit in the backseats and figure out which of these not-especially-compacts, which all grew with their latest redesigns might have a practicality advantage. We also have full specifications on each model, which are laid out in the handy chart below. Exterior design There's honestly a little bit of the previous-generation Jetta visible in the 2019 Forte profile — especially around the doors and greenhouse. The Jetta, meanwhile, has the same sort of radically swept-back roofline as the Civic that's become all the rage throughout the automotive industry. The 2019 Jetta is also a little more visually interesting than the car it replaced, though neither the Jetta nor the Forte were as radically transformed as the Civic was two years ago. Alright, let's go to the slideshows. View 20 Photos 2019 Kia Forte View 61 Photos View 28 Photos Engines and transmissions The 2019 Jetta, 2019 Forte and 2019 Civic have considerably different powertrain options, with additional choices possible once the VW and Kia go deeper into their lifespans. Both the Forte and Civic rely on naturally aspirated four-cylinder engines in base specification, with the Civic's 2.0-liter engine making more power and a smidgen more torque than the Kia's. The Jetta goes the turbocharged small-displacement route with its 1.4-liter engine. It makes the same power as the Forte, but smacks down both in the torque department. It makes roughly 50 more pound-feet of twist than both naturally aspirated engines. The Honda Civic is the only one to offer an optional engine, which follows in the footsteps of the Jetta as a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder. Its 174 horsepower is ahead of the others by nearly 40 ponies. However, its 162 pound-feet of torque still falls short of the Jetta. Impressively, all three sedans still offer a manual transmission option, and all of them are six-speed units.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.

Recharge Wrap-up: VW CEO mulls battery factory, voters approve $201B in transportation funding

Mon, Nov 21 2016

Volkswagen Group CEO Matthias Muller says that it would "make sense" for the automaker to begin producing its own batteries. As the company moves toward electrification, Muller says it would be a smart move to build a battery factory. "If more than a quarter of our cars are to be electronic vehicles in the foreseeable future then we are going to need approximately 3 million batteries a year," he says. Volkswagen has agreed to cut 30,000 jobs in its restructuring, while committing to creating 9,000 jobs in Germany through battery manufacturing and mobility services. Earlier this month, voters in 22 states approved ballot measures adding up to $201 billion in funding for transportation projects, according to the American Road & Transportation Builders Association. California passed 15 transportation measures, including one in Los Angeles worth $120 billion for roads, bridges, and transit. The state of Washington secured $54 billion for light rail and buses. Atlanta approved about $4 billion for road and transit projects. Illinois and New Jersey passed measures to prevent the diversion of transportation user fee revenue to other industries. A Delaware federal judge ordered the DOE to give the documents – which concern a presentation by Fisker to the DOE in which it falsely claimed to meet milestones set forth in a government loan – to lawyers in a case in which investors claim Fisker lied to them about financial troubles. While the DOE has given over documents already, they were incomplete and heavily redacted. "I understand that such disclosures may have a negative impact on future DOE analyses," says US District Judge Sue Robinson. "but conclude nonetheless that under the circumstances at bar – the public money at stake, the Congressional hearings, and the fact that Fisker Automotive is now a defunct company – the balance of interests favors plaintiffs."
