1965 Volkswagen Beetle The prior owner told us he did a rotisserie restoration on the unit. The bottom had no rust and do damage from a accident. The entire bottom was cleaned and repainted and looks as nice as the top. I had a local VW guru stop out and give me some pointers, he said this is one straight beetle and who ever get it is getting a great car. Now back to the "BUG", the inside has been done with exception of the head liner. The seats, dash, carpet all done. The engine in the car is from a early 1970s super beetle, wish I could give you more details. Runs great and shift as it should. It is a heater and radio delete car, the tires are new just as the painted alloy rims are, I believe that it has less then 20 miles since the restoration was done. Look at the pictures and you can see how nice the car is, the only flaw is minor cracks on the tail. By no way does it take away from the car. I am not sharp on VWs so that is why I am selling it, it is 98% done so don't think you are getting a car and box parts....Only thing it needs is the headliner. DONE! If you are the lucky winner I will need a 500.00 deposit at closing of sale, full payment with 5 working days. Wire transfer, cash or certified funds. It it is certified funds the car will not LEAVE until funds have cleared. I have it stored in a heated building and do so for a fee until 4-12-13...I do not accept bidders with under 5 transactions unless you contact me first..319-533-1770 Jeff Beisker....Winning bidder is responsible for transportion..The unit is sold as is...... CHEAP-CHEAP-CHEAP....Unit is for sale local so I reserve the right to end the sale early..I AM RELISTING THIS UNIT DUE TO A EBAY BUYER NOT FOLLOWING THRU WITH THE SALE..DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MINE PLEASE......

Tesla tires turning on Stretchla Vanagon EV conversion project
Tue, Jan 7 2014It is one thing to say you are going to Frankenstein a Tesla Model S with a pair of Siamese-twinned Volkswagen Vanagons and quite another to actually start taking your newly-acquired, smashed-up electric sedan apart in an effort to bring it back to life. Otmar Ebenhoech is doing just that, and having no small successes along the way. The Stretchla project, as it is being called, has officially started and our protagonist has put together another bit of video to document his progress and let us know about some of the different challenges he's encountered and conquered. While our original post about this endeavor featured video of the stretched Vanagon's drivetrain removal, this latest installment focuses on the Model S. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition and has been tackling some of the basic problems one might expect to encounter: lots of error messages and an electrically disconnected battery pack. Without the aid of a manual or technical diagrams, he's removed the battery pack and discovered why it wasn't sending power to the car. Scroll below to watch the ten-minute presentation and celebrate some initial victories. You can also check out the official Stretchla blog for more photos and updates, including the most recent one that discusses how he talked himself into paying (*spoiler alert) $42,000 for a wrecked, non-functional electric car, along with more recent struggles with the steering rack. Hit us up in the comments to let us know what kind of trouble you would get into with a Model S drivetrain of your own. This content is hosted by a third party. Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires
Mon, 11 Mar 2013There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.
Peugeot will prove it doesn't offer cheater diesels
Thu, Oct 29 2015Our diesels are clean, really. That's the message from French automaker PSA/Peugeot-Citroen as it plans to go on the offensive in response to Volkswagen's diesel-emissions scandal. PSA will go out of its way to prove its diesels are as clean as advertised. The company is looking at disclosing "real-world" fuel-economy statistics as soon as next spring and will use an independent entity to vet the numbers, Automotive News Europe says, citing comments that PSA/Peugeot-Citroen financial chief Jean-Baptiste de Chatillon made to reporters this week. Such efforts may be vital, since roughly two-thirds of the vehicles Peugeot-Citroen sells in Europe are powered by a diesel engine. Last month, VW admitted that as many as 11 million of its diesel-powered vehicles were programmed with software designed to cheat emissions-testing systems. The news shook up the industry, especially companies that sell a good chunk of diesels. The EU itself may start instituting "real world" fuel-economy and emissions testing as soon as 2017. French regulators have said they may eliminate diesel-fuel subsidies that currently make diesel fuel cheaper to customers than gas. That adjustment may occur as soon as next year, since it's been pushed up in response to the VW scandal. Peugeot-Citron continues to reiterate that it has never installed software that was designed to cheat emissions-testing systems. Additionally, the automaker was more than a decade ahead of European Union mandates for engine components designed to cut soot emissions, so the company is hoping its track record makes a difference. It wants to be perfectly clear about that.
