| Up for auction is my built 1991 Supra Turbo Targa White Package. This car has been my baby for almost 5 years, but I am needing money for a down payment on a house, so I have decided to part ways with it. I purchased the car in 2009 from the original owner after it had sat for about 7 years from a blown headgasket at 116,xxx miles. I purchased the car and proceeded to build it over the next 3 years to the state it is in now. It is a built 7MGTE with a Precision 6262 Bolt-On turbo, and an R-154 5-speed transmission. Following is a list of specs and parts (all have less than 6k miles on them)and work done to the car since...

The car is currently un-tuned, and I would highly recommend trailering it home for that reason. I do drive it to work once every couple of weeks to keep the battery charged and the fluids circulated. The body is in very good shape with only a couple of dents (driver's side fender), a few door dings, and a slight warping to the lip under the front bumper. The paint is coming off the rear bumper across the top, which seems to be pretty common on the white package cars. The original white wheels will be included with the car. All targa seals were replaced with factory units recently. The car is not perfect, and does have a few items that need some attention. As stated before the car is un-tuned, and will need to be tuned prior to being driven regularly. There is a squeak that comes from the clutch area when the clutch is released in first gear. It does not have any effect on the drivability of the car at all, but I am unsure of the cause of the noise. The leather on the front seats is torn in spots, and the tops of the rear seats are sun cracked. The airbag light is on for unknown reasons. If anyone has any questions please send me a message. Thanks for looking! |

Scion iA and iM rolled into Yaris and Corolla lineups for 2017
Thu, Mar 17 2016The Scion brand may be going away, but most of its cars (sorry, tC) are living on. We'll see the 2017 Toyota 86 (nee Scion FR-S) at the New York Auto Show next week, and the automaker already confirmed that the Scion iA and iM will be rebadged as Toyotas. But instead of standing on their own, the former Scions will be rolled into existing model lines. "Yaris iA" and "Corolla iM" will be the official names of the cars, effective for 2017. It's a smart move, paring the relatively new Scion nameplates with well-known, existing Toyota monikers. Scion spokeswoman Nancy Hubbell tells Autoblog that the iA already exists as the Yaris in the Canadian and Mexican markets, so "that connection was already there." Plus, it's better for marketing. The combination of the two vehicles all under the Yaris nameplate means Toyota can focus its advertising dollars on one vehicle line, simply saying that you can now have the Yaris as a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback. "The same goes with Corolla," Hubbell explains. She says the existing Toyota sedan and the Scion iM "paired really well," and again, it means Toyota can advertise the Corolla as having two body styles moving forward. There are benefits from a sales perspective, too. Never mind that Scion division sales were already included in Toyota's overall numbers – calling the new cars Yaris iA and Corolla iM means the company won't have to report these cars individual sales separately. It's like when Toyota made the Matrix – its technical name was Corolla Matrix, so its individual sales didn't have to be broken out. That means an extra boost in overall numbers for the Yaris and Corolla, even if the cars would have been reported under Toyota's numbers had they kept their Scion badges. Question of the Day: What (non-Skyline) JDM car to import?
Wed, Apr 13 2016I have been looking into the idea of bringing a four-wheel-drive kei van over from Japan, something like a Honda Street or perhaps even a Mitsubishi Minicab Bravo Route 66, and so I have been researching the various bureaucratic hoops I must jump through in order to bring such a car into my state (Colorado). When I finally tracked down the state official who knew the answers, his very first words were "OK, so what year Skyline do you want to register here?" Yes, Nissan's not-sold-over-here factory-hot-rod of the 1980s and 1990s is what gets shipped over most often, but there are other worthy JDM vehicles. Say, for example, a stunning 1990 Mitsuoka Le Seyde (above), which was far classier than the Excalibur and based on the sporty S13 Nissan Silvia, aka 240SX. Of course, the king of JDM cars is the mighty Toyota Century, and you can get nice legal-to-import examples for reasonable prices. No, you can't get the V12 Century legally – yet; the V12-powered cars don't hit the 25-year-old mark until 2022. So, what's your choice for a 1991 or earlier Japanese-market car to import, assuming that the Skyline is off the table?
