This is my wife's van. We love it. She drives 100 miles per day to RN school. We bought a small car for her to drive now. The van gets about 21mpg going in and out of the city. The little car is not nearly as comfortable, but ti gets 34mpg.

All of the maintenance  has been done. The two back tires were put on at the end of last year and the front have been on there two years. The timing belt and related parts were changed. All of the brakes and rotors have been changed. The belts and all the filters have been done. The spark plugs were changed. I use full Synthetic oil and keep up with the times it needed to be changed

My wife, three kids, and I have taken a bunch of sort of local vacations in it. My family lives in Louisiana, about 275 mile one way per trip. We have gone there at least 10 times and we have never had a problem.

Someone asked me about the mileage. I honestly believe that this van will pass the 300,000 mile mark in its lifetime. Ask yourself this, how many Toyota vehicles do you see in a junk yard that are 9 years old? Unless they are totaled, I've seen none. They last a long time. There are the normal scratches and dings on the car. In one picture I am jointing to two dings. one has the red paint off of someone else's car. The paint code is 4Q2 (Desert Sand Mica) and the interior is LB41 which I think means Leather Seat Trim is Tan / Mocha.

The van was not washed. This is undetailed in every way. No joke, I had to drop my son off at school and go to the dentist today. I drove the van. When I got home, I pulled in the front yard and took some pictures. I pulled in the garage for a few because of the glare of the sun. There is a spot on the back left that has a dent that I forgot was there. I took a picture of it. The inside has the normal wear and tear, there is a small tear on the driver's seat. (I forgot it was there and I had a tough time finding it. I took a picture).

Someone asked me how confident I felt with the van? I told them for an extra $1100, I will drive the van to them across the United States and fly pack to Pensacola, FL. I am a "Wounded Warrior", so it would take me a few days.

So, why sell it? We are only selling it to help make sure that RN school is paid without any issues. We don't have to sell it but I don't want it to sit in the garage.

Here are some of the options. To sum it all up, I do not have the Navigation system. It has EVERY OTHER OPTION that I have seen

Leather Interior
Heated front seats
The middle row has captains chairs that can change location and be removed.
the back seats fold down into the compartment where the "Pharmacy" book in the picture is.
(With the middle seats out and the back seats down, an entire sheet of plywood will fit inside, not that my wife would ever allow me to put wood in her van. lol)
Front and Rear A/C
Automatic climate control
Individual climate control for driver's, passenger's, and the rear passenger's area
Sliding sunroof
Privacy glass from Toyota
Power Sliding doors on the driver's and passenger's side
Power rear door
Remotely control the power sliding doors and rear door
JBL 5.1 Surround Sound Synthesis Audio system
6 disk CD/AM/FM audio system
DVD entertainment system
Deluxe wood trim
Running boards
Trailer hitch (I put it on to carry the tray that holds luggage. I never got a chance to use it.)
There is a luggage rack on the roof, but I have never used it

I am sure there are more things I have forgotten, so please email me and I will answer the questions.

Toyota follows Tesla, makes hydrogen patents open source

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Back in June, Tesla said All Our Patents Are Belong to You as it released its electric vehicle patents to the world. CEO Elon Musk said at the time that patents, "serve merely to stifle progress, entrench the positions of giant corporations and enrich those in the legal profession." Despite some disagreement on which gasoline alternative (electricity or hydrogen) will power the automotive future, it looks like the folks over at Toyota like the idea of making advanced technology easier for others to get their hands on. Last summer, Tesla said that it would, "not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology." In an announcement today at CES, Toyota said it would let "automakers who will produce and sell fuel cell vehicles, as well as ... fuel cell parts suppliers and energy companies who establish and operate fueling stations" get free access to 5,680 fuel cell related patents around the world. That means if you're interested in building your own Mirai H2 car, you can now get some of the instructions. There's a catch, though, in that Toyota's H2 vehicle patents will only be free, "through the initial market introduction period, anticipated to last until 2020." Patents about making and selling hydrogen will be free "for an unlimited duration." Toyota's Senior VP of Automotive Operations, Bob Carter, said that, "At Toyota, we believe that when good ideas are shared, great things can happen. ... By eliminating traditional corporate boundaries, we can speed the development of new technologies and move into the future of mobility more quickly, effectively and economically." Toyota generates a lot of patents each year – 1,491 in 2012 in the US alone, for example – but it did not see fit to make them all open to competitors. While we don't know for sure how many automakers have decided to use Tesla's patents since they were made public, but it appears that interest in the technology is muted. We'll have to wait and see how the industry reacts to the influx of H2 information. We hope this will be one of the topics Musk addresses in his Reddit AMA later today. Raising A White Flag To The Competition
We all benefit from highly competitive battles. In the automotive sector, few campaigns are so closely fought as the decades-long struggle for supremacy in the fullsize half-ton pickup truck segment. The Ford F-150 has dominated for ages, but Chevrolet, Ram and GMC have been closing the gap with freshly redesigned trucks that are rocking the industry.
Today's half-ton trucks are better than they've ever been, and we have fierce competition to thank for that.

Ram takes out frustrations on Camry

Fri, May 29 2015

No, not a Ram pickup truck. This is an actual ram, as in a male sheep, headbutting the hell out of a Toyota Camry that made the unfortunate decision to interrupt its battle with a rival member of the flock. Now, before you say, "How dare that Camry harm that cuddly sheep," we'd like to point out just how viciously the two males were fighting before the Toyota butted in. And after smashing the driver's side front fascia, the ram goes right back to attempting to beat down its opponent. All things considered then, we'd call this Ram: 1, Camry: 0.
