Sadly the time has come to find my Prius a new home. I never understood why Prius drivers are so happy about these cars until I actually owned one. They're fantastic. Amazing gas mileage, quiet, surprisingly fun to drive, cheap to maintain and insure, and really roomy inside! I was absolutely shocked when I noticed that the rear seat legroom and cargo space with the rear seats folded down was more than my Grand Cherokee!
This Prius is the top of the line: Touring with Package #6 (Additional $4,550 in options). Basically, it has everything:
Rear camera parking distance sensors; Smart card/smart key; includes central locking ; includes ignition starter; Card key power locks; JBL audio system with six CDs (reads MP3 format); Stability control; Anti-theft protection includes: peripheral; Garage door opener; Coming home device; Nine speakers; Bluetooth hands-free cellular phone; Xenon headlights with projector beam lenses; Front fog lights; Navigation system with full map and voice; Voice activating system for phone and navigation system; Bluetooth bluetooth; 6-disc in-dash CD changer; Auto-dimming rear view mirror; Leather-trimmed, steering wheel; Leather upholstery; AUX;
The Touring model adds 16-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, xenon HID headlights and foglamps.
I've had it for 3 years, and it has driven beautifully with no issues at all. Maintenance is super cheap too. It really is the perfect car for LA. I actually find that I miss driving it when I'm driving my other cars for long trips or in traffic. It basically pays for itself in fuel savings alone, but unfortunately we have too many cars and are out of garage space, so my girlfriend says the Prius has to go!
As you've probably guessed from the price, this is a salvage title car. I know the original owner, and the body shop that did the work specializes in Priuses. This car was originally purchased and has been serviced at Santa Monica Toyota its entire life. The damage was relatively minor on the front end, and the frame was NOT bent. It is in great condition inside and out! Tires still have about 60% life on them, and the car was recently serviced.
Please give this car a good home!
Thanks for looking.

Recharge Wrap-up: New and old Audis get greener, as does US electricity
Thu, Aug 21 2014Audi has made environmental improvements to the its TT while boosting performance. The new TT sees an 11-percent reduction in emissions, and up to 14 percent more power. Audi says that each TT will save around 5.5 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over its lifecycle. Additionally, the TT's manufacturing process has been cleaned up a bit, reducing emissions by about nine percent. Read more in the press release, below, or see Audi's lifecycle assessment here. Speaking of greening up Audis, Al Swackhammer of Washington converted his 1960 Audi DKW 1000S to run on electric power. Swackhammer first fell in love with the Audi Ur-Quattro, became an enthusiast of Audi and Volkswagen cars, and has owned nothing else ever since. With his DKW, he combined his passion for the classic car with his responsibility to the environment. "I am pleased that I did this project," says the happy owner, "and I enjoy driving it very dearly." Meet the man and his beloved electric Audi DKW in the video below. Toyota has chosen a sustainable design firm, Corgan, as the lead architect for its new North American headquarters. The new campus will be built in Plano, TX, and will be the workplace of about 4,000 Toyota employees. Corgan, who has already done 47 LEED certified projects, is already designing a temporary office for the site while it finishes the project. Toyota expects to begin working from the site in late 2016 or early 2017. Learn more in the press release below. In July, all new electrical generating capacity in the US came from renewable sources. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Office of Energy Projects' newest "Energy Infrastructure Update" report says new electric generation put into service last month came from wind (379 megawatts), solar (21 megawatts) and hydro (5 megawatts). So far this year, 53 percent of new energy generation capacity has come from various renewable sources, and none from coal or nuclear. Currently, renewable energy accounts for 16.3 percent of the US electric generation capacity, providing about 14 percent of actual electricity. 2014 Toyota Corolla and Tundra production underway
Fri, 02 Aug 2013After months of leaked photos and speculative reports, Toyota finally unveiled its 2014 Corolla to the world in early July at a star-studded California party. The confetti has been swept up and the champagne flutes washed and stored, and now the real work can begin: production. Toyota has announced that its new C-segment player has begun rolling off the lines at its plants in Mississippi and Ontario, Canada this week ahead of the planned start of sales in September. What's more, the refreshed 2014 Tundra pickup has also segued into production in San Antonio, Texas.
Corolla production in Mississippi is still a relatively recent phenomenon, with the plant having begun assembly of the outgoing model in the fourth quarter of 2011, while Toyota's Cambridge, Ontario plant has been churning out the compact volume king since 1988. Conversely, the Tundra has been in production at the Texas facility since 2006, and Toyota projects that the plant will build its milestone one-millionth new vehicle in September, right around the time the reworked fullsize pickup goes on sale.
Toyota's Texas move could boost state's economy by $7.2B in 10 years
Thu, 15 May 2014They say everything is bigger in Texas, and apparently that includes the Toyota's effect on the economy. The giant Japanese automaker's new headquarters in Plano, TX, will add an estimated $7.2 billion to the state over the next 10 years, according to a new study commissioned by the city and cited by Bloomberg.
The benefits appear to be an absolute steal compared to the direct incentives that Plano and the state are giving Toyota. The report finds that by the time the automaker's campus is complete in 2018, it could have 3,650 full-time workers there at an average salary of $104,000. The city has prepared $6.75 million in grants, plus property tax discounts, according to Bloomberg. In addition to that, the state is offering the business $40 million in incentives from its Texas Enterprise Fund. This is still a fraction of what Toyota is estimated to bring in.
Toyota announced in April that it would move its US operations to Plano after being headquartered in California since 1957. The move affects thousands of employees from the sales and engineering divisions. The first workers will arrive there this fall, but Toyota will eventually have a whole campus in Plano by late 2017. The move is expected to save it huge amounts in taxation and offer employees a lower cost of living. Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz also says that the Texas location puts the headquarters closer to more of the business' factories in the south. Texas certainly appears to be showing it some southern hospitality.
