Here is a nice 2001 Prius fully refurbished and ready to go. In July of 2012 a Re-Involt Generation II battery pack was installed from the leading facility, Taylor Automotive of Sanford, NC, at a cost of $2156.52. The system has performed flawlessly and came with a 12 month unlimited miles warranty which is still good to 7/12/13. Other new parts installed after the Re-Involt include these: 4 new tires; new starting battery; and rear hubs both sides. In addition, all belts, filters and fluids were changed, the car was tuned up and the throttle body was cleaned. We have driven it in all kinds of weather since and logged on a couple thousand trouble-free miles. This car is ready to provide great, reliable transportation to work or school. Consistently achieves 40 mpg despite the urban hilly terrain of the part of West Virginia where the car is. AC works great. Everything on the car works as it should. Exceptionally clean interior and trunk. Jack and spare like new. No rust. Some parking lot dings and scrapes but no wrecks. If you buy it and come down to drive it and are not completely satisfied 100% then I will refund the down payment and you will not be obligated to complete the purchase. If you have any questions feel free to call Bill at 304-389-3900 (leave message and I will call back same day).

Question of the Day: Ever consider driving a minivan?
Thu, May 12 2016Since I'm supposed to know something about cars, it happens all the time: friends and relatives ask me advice about what kind of vehicle they should get. Very often, the only type of vehicle that can check every item on their wish list (e.g., hauls lots of people and stuff, gets good fuel economy, has great crash-test ratings, can take four Great Danes camping, and so on) is a modern minivan... and, of course, nobody wants to hear this. I'm not a minivan person, they will wail, and so they end up with a cramped, fuel-swilling SUV or a not-so-space-efficient minivan-in-disguise CUV. So, is it worth becoming one of those minivan people in order to get the incredible usefulness of these masterpieces of vehicle engineering, or do you hold your head high and drive something that doesn't quite meet your needs? Japanese spark plug giant NGK pleads guilty to price fixing, to pay $52M fine
Wed, 20 Aug 2014The ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice into price fixing in the automotive industry has nabbed one more company breaking the law. Japanese parts giant NGK Spark Plug Company agreed to plead guilty to a felony count of pricing fixing and bid rigging in the in the US District Court in Detroit. Its punishment is a $52.1 million criminal fine and to continue to cooperate with the DOJ's sleuthing into the problem.
According to the DOJ, NGK conspired to fix prices on spark plugs, standard oxygen sensors, and air fuel ratio sensors on vehicles from major automakers in the US, including the former DaimlerChrysler, Honda and Toyota, in a scheme that ran from at least January 2000 to July 2011. The charge claimed that the company and its co-conspirators held meetings where they agreed on bids and price quotes that were submitted to the automakers.
With the latest plea, the DOJ has caught 28 companies and 26 executives for price-fixing and bid rigging in the auto parts industry, and they have collected $2.4 billion in criminal fines. In 2013, the feds brought nine Japanese suppliers down at once, to collect $740 million. Scroll down to read the DOJ's complete announcement of the case.
