Up for sale is a 1991 toyota mr2.  It runs very smooth, and is very fast.  The car is located in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, and is garage kept, winning bidder drives this machine home!  I would NOT be hesitant to take this car anywhere in the country!  Drive it home today and start boosting/drifting.  I have owned this car for a couple years.  I have built it to be a drift car, it is 100% street legal.  This Mr2 NEEDS NOTHING, drives great, pulls hard, and smooth, and never overheats or leaves me stranded.

I purchased it with a seized up engine and broken speedometer cable amongst other things.  I pulled the engine and junked it.  I replaced it with a rebuilt 2.2 liter, and the following upgraded parts all in the last 20k miles and 2 years.

I have put less than 20k on the engine and following parts:
Rebuilt 2.2 liter 5sfe Turbo,
Complete Gasket Set,
New Head, Head Gasket, ARP Head Studs,
Water Pump,
Timing Belt and tensioner,
100amp Alternator,
Distributer Cap and Rotor,
Spark plugs, Wires,
Stainless steel High flow Tubular Exhaust Manifold,
Rebuilt and Balanced CT-26 Turbo,
Braided Steel Oil Feed and Return Lines and Fittings, Oil pressure sensor tee, Oil pan tapped for return,
Braided Steel Coolant Feed and Return Lines and Fittings,
high flow Stainless Downpipe,
Dual Exhaust Stainless Steel with Titanium Coated Tips,
255gph Fuel Pump
Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator with gauge  1:1 lb:psi
315cc light green top feed injectors
Braided Steel Fuel Feed and Return Lines, and Fuel Filter,
2.5" Intercooler piping, heavy duty couplers
High Flow Side Mount Stainless Intercooler
SSQV Super Sequential BOV and Tig Welded Polished Flange
3" Intake pipe and Filter
Automeeter Boost gauge 10psi
3sgte 2bar Map Sensor
Poly-Urethane Motor Mounts
New CVs left and right side
Rotors Slotted and Drilled left and right side rear, Calipers left and right side rear, and Pads all around,
Speedometer Cable
All new fluids: Coolant, Oil, trans, power steering, brake, etc

I am sure i have forgotten some things i've replaced/upgraded.  The car runs excellent, cranks and starts every time the first time.  Rides smooth and Engine was broken in correctly not revving past 3k rpms, oil changes at 100 miles, 500 miles, 1000 miles, and every 3000 miles after that. It idles smooth, runs like a rapped ape at about 10psi. All the power locks work perfectly, the power windows as well, and even the power mirrors.  It gets around 20mpg around town, a little better on the highway.  The exhaust has a nice deep throaty tone, and amplifies the spooling sound of the turbo.

I also swapped in a Black Interior ; carpet, dash, trim all in excellent condition. (was blue).  Flat Black paint job, not professional and not perfect some chips and drips (was white).  All the locks match including the t-tops.  All the glass is good, no cracks including t-tops (even have the cloth shades).  All gauges work perfectly, speedometer, tachometer, voltage, fuel level, except temp gauge.  There are no trouble codes or lights on, but all work when they should.  The tires all hold air perfectly and have no bumps or bubbles, drives smooth down the road, wheels are stock painted black (even have a spare wheel).  The front left fender has some imperfections from where it was grazed, i pulled it back into shape  (could be replaced).  The front hood release is a cable.  the trunk and gas door springs are a little lazy, and the trunk lock is not there, (must be opened from the cab).  the ashtray is missing, and so is the leather shift boot.  There is a small tear in the original drivers side seat, still has original steering wheel.

This MR2 runs excellent and smooth, I set it up for a drift/race car but its 100% street legal and is currently registered and driven regularly.  All the turn signals, brake lights, parking brake, headlights, brights, running lights, and e-brake work perfectly, even has cruise control still.   has no A/C but its all there (compressor lines etc, just needs charged, never bothered after the swap ), heater core is bypassed, power steering works great.  Car runs a little rich for safety and longevity.   My next mods would be a Wideband AFR gauge and AFC, with these two things you should be able to tune the car flawlessly, but again these mods are not necessary, it already pulls hard and safe under full boost, and never hits fuel cut or max injector duty cycle.  This thing is sick and an absolute pleasure to drive, i dont abuse it but i drive it regularly, always let it warm up, and perform regular maintenance.  It has tons of power over stock and great torque for breaking loose the wheels.  nice stiff suspension handles great around turns.  Brakes stop fast and hard.

I have described everything to the best of my knowledge.  If you have questions please feel free to contact me 330-241-9911 ask for justin.  Ask all questions and voice all concerns, prior to bidding as this is a binding contract.  This Mr2 is for sale locally as well, and i reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time.  A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction.  This is an as is auction and there is no warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied.

Construction of Lexus' first US assembly line underway

Thu, 09 Jan 2014

The ES is Lexus' top-selling sedan, but the Japanese luxury marque has never manufactured it outside of Japan. In fact, Lexus has never made any cars in the United States, one of its largest markets worldwide. But that's about to change.
Yesterday, construction began in Georgetown, Kentucky, on the first Lexus assembly line in America, the first concrete (or steel) step in a $360-million expansion of Toyota's plant in the Bluegrass state that will create 750 new jobs. The expansion was announced last April by chief executive Akio Toyoda at the New York Auto Show.
Once the new assembly line gets online in the fall of next year, Toyota plans on building some 50,000 units of the ES each year. Lexus sold a record 72,581 examples of the ES in the United States last year - 30 percent more than the previous year - so Lexus will either have to import some more from overseas or leave some buyers disappointed.

Autocar pits McLaren MP4-12C against turbo Toyota GT86

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

The Toyota GT86, in all of its forms, is one of the best-handling cars money can buy, a trait that can put a smile on the faces of all but the most jaded car enthusiasts. But if good handling isn't what they're looking for, then what is? Our first guess would have to be more power, something the 200-horsepower Toyota would benefit from. Autocar tries out that theory by driving two turbocharged GT86s on track, then pitting the more powerful one against the 616-hp McLaren MP4-12C in a track battle.
The first GT86 turbo Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe drives makes around 255 rear-wheel horsepower and a bucket-load more torque than the stock car. That's plenty of power to either have a lot of fun or get into a lot of trouble. But the GT86 that Sutcliffe tails in the McLaren is race-prepped, stripped to the bone and wears slicks to harness a heavy-hitting 335 hp at the wheel. Weighing in at under 2,500 pounds, the Toyota can't overcome the MP4-12C's power-to-weight ratio of 5.3 pounds per horsepower, but it comes pretty close.
Enjoy a lot of chasing and drifting fun in the video below!

Toyota to buck engine downsizing trend, may go larger and turbo-free

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Turbocharging isn't really Toyota's specialty, and the Japanese automaker isn't being shy about acknowledging it. Koei Saga, a senior managing officer in charge of drivetrain research and development, says that eschewing turbos and increasing displacement of engines using the Atkinson cycle can produce better power gains without sacrificing fuel economy, Automotive News reports.
Toyota is investing heavily in larger-displacement Atkinson-cycle engines in addition to turbocharged engines, but Saga doesn't think the automaker will use turbocharging across many product lines. He apparently remains unconvinced that the technology "makes the world better."
In Toyota's eyes then, Atkinson cycle engines do make the world better, and here's how. Their pistons complete four processes - intake, compression, power and exhaust - in one revolution of the crankshaft, and the power stroke is longer than the compression stroke. Traditional Otto cycle engines require two crankshaft revolutions to accomplish those same four operations and have equal-length compression and power strokes. Atkinson cycle engines are more efficient, but less power dense, though increasing displacement can offset that shortfall.
