Hello All, I bought this car almost 2 years ago. If you are serious about this type of car search 1ZZFE oil burning. Anyway, I bought this aware of the issue due to its terrific body and condition. I had the motor completely rebuilt. This included new bore, pistons, rings, oil pump, timing components, crank polish, all bearings and wear items, A valve job was done also. This was at approx. 71000. After completion, it runs perfect. I drove it that way for 1000 miles or so, and noticed it revved excessively on the highway, so I looked for solutions. I bought a brand new Toyota 6 speed trans that is an exact replacement. You can research this on Monkey Wrench Racing. This includes a Limited Slip Differential. It made all the difference. It is much more relaxed on the highway now and is now 6 speed with all genuine Toyota parts. I changed the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, slave cylinder and surfaced the flywheel at that same time ( approx. 72000 miles) using OEM parts. Within the last 1000 miles, I replaced all brakes and struts. The tires are getting near time for replacement. They have ample tread, but are getting old. I don't remember exactly how old the tires are, but I think they are over 5 years old. I did not list each and every maintenance item I changed while working on it, but rest assured, if it was a wear item, I changed it. This car is extremely reliable and so much fun to drive. It is very light, so it handles great!! I really enjoy this car, but it is one of many vehicles I own, and storage and insurance are becoming a burden. Every item works as it should, and it recently passed NJs stringent inspection testing. I recently purchased a hardtop for this, but did not yet buy the mounting kit. It is on there with 2 of the 6 hard mounting points. It will not harm it being on there as long as it isn't driven without the mounting kit. The top has a value of approx 2000, so the buyer can recoup some of the price if it is sold. The top was shipped to me from a friend in England. This is a Toyota factory top ( ROW got hardtop option) and is in excellent shape. I have also bought a new Clarion stereo with Sirius and Bluetooth for this car, but never installed it. It is new in box. I bought it so I can talk on the phone when I drive. I will include these with the purchase. If you have any questions email me or call at 800-421-9494 X7128 M-F 11-8 Eastern Rich |

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
Toyota's HaMo urban mobility carsharing program comes to France
Mon, Sep 22 2014We're guessing no one's nuts enough to try to take one of Toyota's three-wheeled leaning electric i-Road vehicles up into the French Alps. Still, the town of Grenoble, France, which sits at the foot of the mountains, has received 35 of those vehicles as part of a carsharing pilot program. Toyota's thrown in 35 four-wheel Auto Body COMS vehicles into the program as well. Grenoble, which is about 200 miles north of Marseille, was presumably chosen because of existing carsharing programs run by Cite-lib. This program, dubbed "Cite lib by Ha:mo," goes a little more futuristic, though, as it's part of what Toyota calls its "Ha:mo" plan (Ha:mo is short for "harmonious mobility"). The program will run for three years and includes 27 charging stations near bus lines and train stations. The public will be charged anywhere from three to 19 euros ($3.80 to $24.50 US) to use the vehicles for between 15 minutes and four hours. The good news is that drivers can pick up the vehicles in one location and drop them off in another. Toyota started testing the i-Road vehicles in Toyota City, Japan, this past March. The trike is about three feet wide and has a top speed of 28 miles per hour. Check out Toyota's press release below and read AutoblogGreen's "First Drive" impressions of the i-Road here. "Cite lib by Ha:mo", a New Type of Urban Mobility Based on Ultra-Compact Electric Vehicles Connected to Public Transport, Launches in Grenoble, France This innovative car-sharing service aims to prepare the City and agglomeration of Grenoble for electric mobility within a comprehensive multi-modal mobility plan. The three-year trial project brings together the competencies and services of five partners: the City of Grenoble, the Metro Area, French electricity company EDF and its affiliate Sodetrel, Toyota, and Cite lib, the local car-sharing operator. 35 three-wheel Toyota i-ROAD and 35 four-wheel Toyota Auto Body COMS will be available for short city trips in 27 charging stations installed and operated by Sodetrel - including for one-way trips from one station to another. A total of 120 charging points for the project and 41 for other plug-in vehicles will be added to the city's transport infrastructure. A simple pricing plan dubbed "3, 2, 1 euros" for respectively the first, second and third 15-minute increments will be proposed to Grenoble citizens.

Audi plans to give its electric vehicles looks that differentiate them from the rest of the lineup. "In early 2018, we will launch a battery-powered sports activity vehicle in the large premium segment with a range of more than 500 kilometers," says Audi's head of development, Ulrich Hackenberg. "It will have a new, very attractive design, which we are developing especially for the E-Tron range and for battery-electric vehicles." According to analysts, part of the reason the Toyota Prius was so successful was because it was easy to distinguish from other Toyota models with conventional powertrains. James Lawler used mostly scraps to build the tiny house – complete with tin roof, chimney, and stained glass window – for just $150 Australian. It took him about a week to finish. Lawler made use of his creation at the Meredith Music Festival so he didn't have to sleep in a tent. He was, however, fined by police for driving the makeshift motorhome.
