Got a 85 Toyota MR2 here, its one of the nicer ones left here in MN. Its light blue, obviously. and its a 5 speed too! I saved this car from a owner who didn't know what they were doing, I've thoroughly gone through the car and fixed everything that's needed to be fixed so it is reliable again, you can thank me later. Comes with original wheels, 2 boxes of all this really rad extra stuff and every part the previous owner deemed necessary to take off, except the timing belt cover, the gnomes took that one. This car is great! It gets awesome mileage, i deliver sandwiches part time and usually get 35-40 mpg, its also one of the best handling cars I've ever owned. Also this car pulls the ladies harder than Burt Reynolds in a DeLorean with Phil Collins in the tape deck, a few guys too if that's your thing, i wont discriminate, personally not my thing though.
The engine is a 4A-GE, same as AE86 Corolla and AE111 Corolla fame. I love this engine, it falls on its face under 4500rpm because Toyota decided to make the intake ports the size of baseballs so it ruins the flow of the head at low RPM but otherwise is a stellar engine especially for being designed in 1980, and is one of the best sounding 4 cylinder engines ever (second to the Honda B16B, and Subaru EJ257). If you're wondering where you've heard 4A-GE before its because Takumi Fujiwara in Initial D has that engine in his AE86 but he has the 20V from the 90s i just got the 16v from the 80s. pfft the 1980s were cooler anyway, AND this engine you can actually find parts for at Autozone, unlike that JDM 20v Crap. Speaking of such, parts for this are cheap as hell, alternator $80, water pump $30 i love it!
The exhaust on this sucks though, get a new one. I just was in a pinch and fabbed this up with a friend in like an hour.
I'm a semi motivated seller but I'm ready to sell it if anyone wants it. If you are out of state you are responsible for shipping and there is no warranty expressed or implied.
Pros:
-Water pump, thermostat, alternator and serpentine belt all done in last 2 months
-Ignition Coil/ plugs/ Distributor cap and Rotor all done in last 3 months
-interior pretty solid
-Mechanically sound
-comes with box of extra parts
-comes with stock wheels
-New headlights, and fresh tires (literally 200 miles on them)
-Just put in a new windshield yesterday (6/8/2013)
Cons:
-small rust in front of rear quarter panel $300 extra and ill get it fixed for you
-no radio
-sway bar end link clicks if you hit a really big pothole
-the exhaust is pretty jank
-that whole being mobbed by women thing

2018 Honda Odyssey bests Pacifica, Sienna in minivan crash, LATCH tests
Thu, Aug 16 2018Honda has a lot to be proud of following the latest round of passenger small-overlap crash testing by the IIHS. The safety organization tested the 2018 Honda Odyssey, 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Toyota Sienna, and the Odyssey managed the best rating of "Good." The Pacifica followed behind with an "Acceptable" rating, and the Sienna brought up the rear with just a "Marginal." Both the Pacifica and Sienna lost points because the structure around the passengers collapsed to differing extents, leading to parts of the structure intruding into the passenger compartment. The Pacifica didn't intrude enough to harm passengers, with each injury area still having a Good rating, but the Sienna's structure intruded far enough to potentially harm the leg and foot areas, leading to an Acceptable rating in those specific areas. In addition to the small overlap crash test, the IIHS evaluated all three minivans for LATCH child seat anchor ease of use. Once again, the Odyssey aced the test with a Good+ rating, which is awarded for both ease of use and offering multiple anchor point options. The Pacifica and Sienna swap the crash test ratings, with a Marginal for the Chrysler and an Acceptable for the Sienna. The Odyssey and Pacifica can both brag that they're Top Safety Picks, and they'd get Top Safety Pick+ awards if they weren't hampered by headlights that only get Acceptable ratings. The Toyota Sienna fails to earn the regular Top Safety Pick award because both small overlap tests yielded results that were too low. Only one other minivan tested by IIHS has the Top Safety Pick rating, and that's the Kia Sedona. It earns an Acceptable rating in LATCH usability, and its headlights actually earned a Good rating. It hasn't undergone passenger-side small overlap crash testing yet. If it fares well, it could get bumped up to a Top Safety Pick+ rating. Recharge Wrap-up: Minnesota first to require biodiesel, maglev in Israel, Toyota FCV in Aspen
Thu, Jun 26 2014A new Minnesota law that requires biodiesel blends goes into effect in just a few days, says KELO. Diesel drivers in Minnesota will be pumping soybeans into their tank beginning July 1. Every year, diesel will be sold as a B10 blend (ten percent biofuel) from April through August, and will scale back to a cold-hardy B5 blend from September through March. The biofuel largely comes from soybean crops grown within Minnesota, and the biodiesel industry pumps more than $900 million into the state economy every year. According to the National Biodiesel Board, using the B10 and B5 blends will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1,342,000,000 pounds every year. Minnesota is the first state to require diesel to be sold as a biofuel blend. In Japan, Isuzu Motors and Japanese biotech venture Euglena are teaming up to create biodiesel using algae, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. The goal is to create a new type of fuel that doesn't need to be mixed with light oil to be used in engines. "As long as we use light oil for diesel engines, emissions of carbon dioxide are inevitable," says Isuzu president Susumu Hosoi. Euglena has also been using algae to develop jet fuel with airline operator ANA Holdings. Isuzu and Euglena hope to have the new biodiesel developed by 2018. Aerial maglev transportation is coming to the campus of a defense contractor in Tel Aviv, Israel, Wired reports. The SkyTran personal rapid transit system uses small pods on an elevated magnetic track to move people from place to place. The pilot program will see SkyTran come to the corporate campus of Israel Aerospace Industries as soon as next year. The pods are hailed by phone, and carry passengers along the magnetic rail system at speeds of up to 44 miles per hour. The passive magnetic system levitates the pod attachment a centimeter above the rails, while a burst of electricity propels the pod forward. If the test at the campus goes well, SkyTran could spread to Tel Aviv at large, moving up to 12,000 people per track per hour with top speeds of 150 mph. The pre-production prototype of the Toyota FCV will make its North American debut at the 2014 Aspen Ideas Festival on Friday, June 27. The hydrogen car's finished exterior was revealed in Japan on Wednesday along with its nearly $70,000 price tag. It will go on sale in Japan by April of next year, and will come to Europe and California in the summer of 2015.
Toyota sold record 1.52 million hybrids in 2017
Fri, Feb 2 2018Toyota has been selling electrified cars for more than two decades now, launching the Prius hybrid in Japan in 1997. Back in the fall of 2015, the automaker announced a number of goals as part of its "Environmental Challenge 2050." One of those was to sell 1.5 million hybrids (including its Lexus brand) annually by 2020. Toyota has announced that is has already achieved that goal, selling 1.52 electrified vehicles in 2017. That's an 8 percent increase of Toyota's 2016 hybrid sales, and means the company has sold more than 11.47 million electrified vehicles since it began. Toyota says that represents a reduction of more than 90 million tons of CO2. Last year's achievement "is a testament from our customers to the quality, durability and reliability of our electrified powertrains," says Toyota Executive VP Shigeki Terashi, "and, thanks to them, has led us to establish a solid and sustainable foundation for mass producing a more diverse portfolio of electrified vehicles across our range moving forward." Other goals of Toyota's Environmental Challenge 2050 are 30,000 annual fuel cell vehicle sales by 2020, mass production of battery electric vehicles in 2020 and annual electrified vehicle sales of 5.5 million by 2030. These are all part of Toyota's larger goal of reducing new vehicle CO2 emissions by 90 percent by 2050 (compared to 2010). Prior to 2016, Toyota hybrid sales peaked in 2013, at 1.28 million before slumping slightly in 2014 and 2015. Toyota saw an uptick and a new record in 2016, at 1.4 million, before setting yet another record in 2017, at 1.52 million. Related Video:
