I bought the cruiser in November of 2013 and have loved every minute of it. We have taken it on vacations throughout Oregon and Washington. We have pulled our camping trailer around with it. I ran it everyday in the last snowstorm we had in the area (yes I had to work while everyone else played). It has been a great truck for us and we will miss it. This was also my daily driver so it is no stranger to being used daily.
We intended on keeping it but my wife decided she wanted a vehicle that had a third row for taking other peoples kids around town. So the cruiser is the vehicle that gets to find a new home. Alright here is the breakdown of good/bad/ugly/etc... I have taken it in for regular maintenance (oil changes and such). I have had the AC converted to a newer refrigerant. I put in a stereo with bluetooth (I drive a lot and once you get used to that type of system its hard to get away from it). I also replaced the stock antenna with a whip antenna that has a plug for a cb on it. The new antenna fits right into the old antenna whole so it actually looks like it belongs there. This means you can attach a cb and not have to add an additional antenna to the rig. I replaced the gas struts in the back (would not even hold the window open when I got it). I also redid the water lines in the back window (washer fluid) because they had cracked and were leaking fluid all over the inside of the back window door. The prior owner put a second battery into the back (fairly common addition if you intend to use it as an expedition rig/camping rig). He was also responsible for adding the second set of lights on the roof rack. Other than that the rig is stock as far as I can tell. The interior is clean compared with what I have seen of other rigs in the price range and it was by far the best under 10k when I bought it. The engine runs great and I have never had issues with power or starting. There are a few quirks of these rigs related to the fuel and temp gauges. Every so often you will find the fuel and temp gauges spike all the way to the red (temp) and all the way full on the fuel. It freaked me out the first time and I almost towed the vehicle but quickly realized that there wasn't really a temp issue. It is an electrical issue within the gauge. If you are truly interested there are blog posts out there about fixing/changing the gauges to make it less annoying. Overall the fuel gauge shows full when full. then runs down to empty by the time you run through about half the tank. The transmission has a tendency to drop into reverse hard on occasion. I am not sure why this happens but wanted to give full disclosure on anything I noticed wrong with the truck. Rust. This truck has a very clean exterior (not perfect by any stretch of the imagination). It does have a crunched spot on the rear passenger side. You can clearly see it in the photos. There is almost zero rust on the exterior and very little underneath the truck. The rack, jack and lights all stay. I also have a Hi-Lift recovery bag with a bunch of fun toys inside (it stays with the rig) I have a clean title in hand. I will not ship the car and I don't even care if you mom really needs a land cruiser. I only accept cash. I won't take a check or anything similar. I hope it goes to a good home; someone that can take it out and play often. |

Where the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X fits into the hierarchy of off-road trucks
Fri, Oct 22 2021The world of off-road pickups sure seems like it's getting crowded, but the reality is that half-ton trucks were always pretty capable, even with what seemed like fairly basic 4x4 packages. It wasn't until recently that manufacturers really started to carve out different off-road niches for their mainstream pickup offerings. With the introduction of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X (alongside its mechanical twin, the Chevy Silverado ZR2), the crowd has grown even thicker. Even we have trouble keeping up with the increased segmentation of off-road pickup trucks, so we threw together this handy guide to help you understand just where these various packages fit into the broader pickup hierarchy. Let's dive in. Your basics If we say "Z71" or "FX4" to you, both will probably ring a bell. That's because they've been around a few days short of forever and their respective customers have grown so used to these package codes that OEMs got into the habit of just plastering them on the side of so-equipped truck beds. Anybody who sells a pickup truck offers some sort of basic off-road prep package like this one. Z71 is found on GM vehicles; FX4 is Ford's. Ram just calls it "Off Road Group," but no matter what you call them, they're all pretty similar. Typical upgrades for this category include some additional ground clearance, a basic all-terrain tire, heavy-duty suspension upgrades and likely either a limited-slip or locking rear differential. These are pretty handy for anything beyond a rutted dirt road. On newer trucks — especially on higher trim levels — you'll probably also get some dedicated off-road drive modes. Mid-range This is where things start to get interesting. To qualify for this category, a locking rear differential is a must. Most of the names in this segment are well-established too, though some (Nissan Titan Pro-4X, anyone?) may not necessarily be on your radar. The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro checks in here, as does the Ram Rebel, Chevy Silverado Trail Boss and GMC Sierra AT4 (no X!). Realistically, if there's somewhere you need to go and one of these trucks won't do it, you might want to consider a helicopter. But it's 2021, and our thirst for capability is strong, so of course, there's a way to spend more of your money on this type of thing. Onward! Entry-hardcore Here we are, the home of the new 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X and Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. This is a tiny niche, otherwise occupied only by the Ford F-150 Tremor.
Momkhana goes drifting with a V8 minivan in the 'burbs
Thu, Feb 19 2015Ken Block probably never expected that he would launch countless imitators when he released Gymkhana years ago, but by now we've seen the concept broadened for everything from toy cars to Crazy Carts. The latest parody is Momkhana, and it moves the setting to the suburbs for a trip to the shoe store. Before you completely write off the idea, though, keep in mind the vehicle making the commute is a drift-happy, rear-wheel drive Toyota Sienna boasting an LS3 V8 with an estimated 550 horsepower. The significant increase in muscle certainly makes a drive to the strip mall a lot more entertaining. In addition to the engine transplant, the minivan gets a massive handbrake to allow for big slides through the neighborhood. The clip replicates many of the classic stunts from Block's Gymkhana videos but in new, rather absurd surroundings. So instead of long, smoky donuts in a warehouse, they happen at the end of a cul-de-sac. If you're curious to see how the video was done, Famous Footwear, which created the clip, also made a featurette showing off some of the van's preparation and filming behind the scenes. Linde spending $4.3 million on two new hydrogen stations in California
Wed, Aug 6 2014If California is going to sink millions upon millions to expand its hydrogen-refueling infrastructure, shouldn't at least some of that infrastructure be operated by a company that actually produces hydrogen fuel? Why, yes, and that's the case with Linde North America. The company has announced it will build two publicly-accessible hydrogen stations in Northern California, courtesy of a $4.3 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC). One of the stations will be at Oakland International Airport while the other will be about 20 miles east in San Ramon, next to Toyota's regional office and parts distribution center for the San Francisco Bay Area. That's only fitting, considering that Toyota is going to release a production fuel cell vehicle next year, first in Japan, then in the US (it will be limited to California at the beginning). The California Air Resources Board recently outlined the Golden State's intention to spend $50 million on getting 28 hydrogen refueling stations up and running by the end of next year and as many as 100 new stations added during the next decade. A large chunk of those (19, to be exact) will be built through a partnership betweetn Toyota and FirstElement Fuel Inc., so things are happening. Check out Linde's press release below. Linde to build two additional retail hydrogen fueling stations in northern California - Receives $4 million grant from California Energy Commission - Fueling stations slated for Oakland International Airport and San Ramon MURRAY HILL, N.J., and NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J., Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Energy Commission (CEC) awarded $4.3 million to Linde North America to construct retail hydrogen fueling stations in Northern California. The stations will be located at the Oakland International Airport and on Toyota owned property in San Ramon, California, adjacent to Toyota's San Francisco Regional Office and Parts Distribution Center. The award is part of $46.6 million funding program the CEC has committed this year to expand the retail hydrogen fueling infrastructure within the state. The grants, made through CEC's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, were made to eight applicants and will add 13 new hydrogen fueling locations in Northern California and 15 in Southern California, strategically located to create a refueling network along major corridors and in regional centers.
