Rare Diesel Clean Low Miles Rh Drive on 2040-cars
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States
| I am listing for sale an all original, Rare, 1988 Toyota LJ71 Land Cruiser 2.4L Diesel, Right Hand Drive, Manual Transmission. Excellent condition. 88,000 km (approximately 48,800 miles) One small scratch on the left hand side door. Power windows, power locks, cold Air Conditioning, Fog Lights, AM/FM/CD/MP3/USB/Bluetooth Player. New tires. I am the second owner. I imported this vehicle from Japan starting in January, took possession in late April after shipping and going through customs. The vehicle is in excellent condition. No accidents or damage. Runs and drives great, as expected. The roof rack in the pictures is included if the buyer wants it. I took it off because it wouldn't fit in my garage.   The actual VIN is: LJ 710004224. eBay only allows for 17 digit VINs.  What I've done to the vehicle: Replaced the aftermarket Japanese CD player with a new Kenwood Unit. Replaced the original tires Replaced the front steering stabilizer (shock) Removed the aftermarket tint Eliminated the clutch booster and replaced the master cylinder The roof rack in the pictures is included if the buyer wants it. I took it off because it wouldn't fit in my garage. What needs to be done: Fill it up and drive This vehicle runs and drives great. I have taken a couple of 100+ mile trips on the highway. It cruises along at around 65-70 comfortably. Rides great. Most of the miles I have put on it are local, daily driver miles. I have thoroughly enjoyed owning it and driving it. It is a joy to drive. It gets looks everywhere I go. It is incredibly rare here in the US. Gets excellent gas mileage. The interior carpet is a little worn but isn't bad. The seats are in great condition with no tears or rips. The body is in near perfect condition. It is as nice of a 70 Series Land Cruiser as I have ever seen. You won't be disappointed.  I have the vehicle listed locally as well as on another site. I reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell it elsewhere. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Feel free to ask any questions.  |

Autoblog fan favorite car ads from Super Bowl XLIX
Mon, Feb 2 2015Super Bowl XLIX is in the books, and the New England Patriots emerged victorious. Of course, if you're like us, the big game wasn't so much about the battle between the east coast and west, so much as a fight between the world's automotive advertisers. We collected and collated all of last night's new ads and put them together for you to vote on. And yes, we're limiting this year's contest to last night's new features. That's why you aren't seeing Dodge's epic Wisdom among our collection of commercials, and it's a similar story with Chevrolet's Truck Guy Focus Group series, which highlights the new Colorado. You can still vote for your favorites. We won't be closing the voting on our Super Bowl page, so while the winners and losers are correct as of this writing, it's entirely possible that there could be some changes in the rankings as time goes on. So, without any further ado, here are the winning ads based on your voting. Nissan: With Dad Fiat: Ready For Action Jeep: Beautiful Lands BMW: Newfangled Idea Mercedes-Benz: Fable NASCAR: America Start Your Engines As for those ads that failed to impact you, loyal readers, Toyota was the absolute, undisputed loser. The Japanese brand ran four ads in total – two for Toyota and two for Lexus – and all of them have negative tallies as of this writing. Lexus' Make Some Noise and Lets Play and Toyota's One Bold Choice and My Bold Dad both had very weak showings among the commercials that aired, although they weren't alone. Neither Mazda nor Kia scored particularly well, despite featuring celebrity magic act Penn and Teller and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, respectively. Chevrolet was the winner of the losers, as of our writing, recording the fewest downvotes for its audience-punking The Big Game ad. If you want to take a second look at the losing ads, you can head back to our Super Bowl page for the complete collection. But for now, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the results.
Toyota celebrates 30th anniversary of Land Cruiser 70 with Japan rerelease [w/videos]
Tue, 26 Aug 2014It's a common refrain among auto enthusiasts to bemoan the current models being sold for being overly complex and expensive and to wish that automakers would just make vehicles like the old days. Sure, they might not have been as safe or efficient, but there was often a certain rugged simplicity that's gone today. Well, Toyota is actually doing it and thinks there's enough demand to put the Land Cruiser 70 back into production in Japan for its 30th anniversary. Sadly, it's only for one year.
The original Land Cruiser 70 served a long life in Japan from 1984 to 2004. Even today, the proven model remains in production in some regions abroad. People in its home country still love the vehicle though, and Toyota is brushing off the mothballs to give customers what they want. For the first time ever there, it's also offering the double-cab pickup version in addition to the traditional enclosed body. The company thinks that it can move about 200 of these classic trucks this year, which isn't too shabby for a vehicle that's three decades old.
Looking at the pictures above, these look like the same old Land Cruisers, but Toyota is updating them slightly to meet modern safety rules. The grille, hood and headlights are all tweaked, and they now come with airbags and anti-lock brakes. A 4.0-liter V6 is under the hood making 228 horsepower (170 kilowatts) and 266 lb-ft of torque (360 Newton-meters), and the only available gearbox is a five-speed manual. Part-time four-wheel drive is standard. If you're really afraid of getting stuck in the wilderness, locking front and rear differentials and a winch are available as options.
Toyota, Mercedes, BMW top automakers included in List of Best Global Brands
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Interbrand, a consultancy firm, has published its 13th annual list of the best global brands. Besides seeing some shakeups at the top - Apple and Google unseated Coca-Cola (a company that has dominated the survey since its birth), the 100-item list features 14 automakers, most of which enjoyed double-digit gains in brand value.
Toyota managed to retain its spot as the study's top automaker. It finished the survey in 10th position overall (the same as last year), despite a 17-percent improvement in its brand value, from $29.33 billion to $35.34 billion. Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Honda all made the top 20, at 11th, 12th and 20th place, respectively. Hopping a ways down the list, we come across Volkswagen in 34th place, up from 39th in last year's study, with a brand value of $11.12 billion, a 20-percent improvement over 2012. Ford and Hyundai round out the automakers in the top 50, at 42 and 43.
Porsche made the largest year-over-year gain of any automaker, with its brand value increasing 26 percent to $6.47 billion. Chevrolet meanwhile, cracks the list for the very first time at 89th place. As Interbrand notes, Chevy's inclusion is notable because of the sheer number of vehicles it moves for General Motors and its recent push in developing markets. The final interesting note on this survey is the position of an automaker that takes its name and logo more seriously than perhaps any other - Ferrari. The Italian exotic manufacturer finished 98th out of 100, with just $4.01 billion in brand value, a six-percent improvement over 2012.
